HIA S39 Jeban (Viper) Multi-Role Aircraft

In a new age of warfare and prevention of warfare, from sea based carriers to land based airstrips and beyond, HAD proudly announces it's S39 Viper as an alternative to other aerospace weaponry. A 4.5 generation multi-role fighter aircraft, it is powered by the GE Auremena F424 afterburning turbofan, a procurement through trade relations that came about during an expo of the S39 to a purchasing country.

Compared to the S38 Mamba, the S39 Jeban (Viper)'s relocated main landing gear, the internal fuel capacity has increased by 40%, which will increase ferry range to 4,070 km (2,200 nmi). The new undercarriage configuration also allows for the addition of two heavy stores pylons to the fuselage. Its PS-05/A sensor adds a new active electronically scanned array (AESA) antenna to it's resources for detecting hostile threats.

In designing the aircraft, several layouts were studied. Haruspex International Armaments (HIA) in conjunction with Haruspex Aerodynamics Design (HAD), ultimately selected a delta wing-canard design with relaxed stability. The configuration provides for a high manoeuvrability along with better takeoff and landing performance. The S39 Jebann also has a low drag, enabling it to fly faster, have increased range, and carry a larger payload. The totally integrated avionics make it a "programmable" aircraft, changing the software can provide for additional mission profiles.

The S39 Jeban (Viper) was designed to provide for a fast sink rate and hard, short landings. While lacking thrust reversers that would allow the engine to aid braking, the aircraft's canards can be angled downwards to act as air brakes. The main wing is also fitted with flaps and elevons to change the flow of air around the wing. The canard configuration gives a high onset of pitch rate and low drag, enabling the aircraft to be faster, have longer range and carry a larger payload. In addition to being able to take off with up to 14,330 lb of rockets, bombs, or missiles, the S39 Jeban is also equipped with either a dual arrangement of 27 mm Mauser BK-27 cannons or a single 30 mm GSH multi-barrel cannon.

The Jeban (Viper) comes standard with integrated optical and laser systems, and it poses a significant challenge even to most enemy aircraft. This system is unique in the amount of tasks it can perform when compared to older systems. It can provide targeting solutions for ground and air targets at up to 15 km. It can detect missiles thanks only to the warmth generated by air resistance on their nose and can provide the pilot with a detailed trajectory and it can do all these tasks across the full 360 degrees of the battlefield compared to its predecessors that usually only provided a certain amount of coverage in front of the pilot.

The S39 Jeban's radar suite is of the Caan R2, an advanced variant of the original HAD R1 Upcanjan radar introducing advanced air to surface functions like mapping and terrain following. The radar forms part of the S39's specific equipment. The radar features improved signal processing and has a detection range of up to 120 km vs a 5 m2 RCS target for the export variant, and up to 10 targets tracked and up to 4 attacked at once in air to air mode. The tracking range is 0.83 - 0.85 of the detection range. In air to surface mode the radar can detect a tank from up to 25 km away and a bridge from 120 km away, a naval destroyer could be detected up to 300 km away and up to two surface targets can be tracked at once. The radar has a weight of 220 kg and a scanning area of +/- 85 degrees in azimuth and +56/-40 in elevation. The antenna is an electronically scanned slotted planar array and has a diameter of 624 mm.

Other than air defence, the duties of the S39 Jeban include destruction of enemy ASW, AWACS, and transport aircraft, anti-shipping strike, support of amphibious landing, escort, and reconnaissance.
