The Foreign Relations & Trade Office mandarins have delivered their accreditations. It officiated the belated start of bilateral treaty of amicable trade between the Krakadaren Global Resistance Force on one hand, and Imperial Yohannes on the other. As I seated myself somewhat uncomfortably between the poorly dressed, dross Maxtopian to my left, and the fancy suited crisp, clean shaven Bigtopian to my right, the thought keeps going round the back of my head, up slowly… and down once again, doing my head in the process.

“The Global Resistance Force is not even a settled political entity…?”

“Huh…?” The Bigtopian to my right dropped his Orange iPac silver laptop, glancing to this Kiwi guy next to him, and no doubt wondering ‘Why did this weirdo muttered randomly to himself…?’ No matter, for even the weirdest of weirdos would shake their collective heads at the thought of overseeing the celebration of bilateral treaty formation - between a fully sovereign, settled nation state on one hand, and an unscrupulous, borderless organisation on the other: for how can an organisation be a sovereign entity at the same time?

“It quite simply is not making any sense… you hear me?” David Wong Tang Tun, the Imperial Attorney General next door expressed his frustration to me personally just last week. “What is His Imperial Majesty seriously thinking…?” He made his bewilderment known so openly to me. There seated were the two of us - a chardonnay socialist hiding behind his thinly veiled ‘Minister Resident of the Yohannesian Empire’ and a part time supermarket boy turned representative of His Imperial Majesty - on that fine morning, sipping our aromatic Arjuna tea, and pondering ever so slightly of the latest eye raising orders handed down from the celestial Emperor himself.

We have had quite the amusing chat then, and while the day was surely a well spent day, none of the two of us were able to conclude the reasoning behind the latest of the Emperor’s arcane dictations.

“What u lookin’ at der bro?” The Maxtopian to my left - scratching his unkempt long hair and picking his nose - joined in our conversation. Well, this plane ride will be quite the long trip anyway… might as well share in my thought and problem for the day… right?

“Gentlemen…”, I adjusted my tie.

“Negative, Sir… I am a lady”, the Bigtopian corrected me.

“Oh…?”

“Yes… you see; I have had my gender reassignment surgery…”

What the fuck is that, I thought to myself, smiling - somewhat unsuccessfully - trying to hide my surprise at this very much unnecessary piece of information.

“... fully paid for by the Bigtopian government at the time.”

Bloody hell, so we have got a flippin’ crossdresser and a die hard nanny state by product sitting next to me: this is gonna be one heck of an aerial ride of… joy.

“That is… quite the fantastic revelation”, I replied, and offered my right hand to meet his. “Baboushka von Helmuth und Freezer - to be accredited Minister Resident and plenipotentiary of the Yohannesian Empire to the…”, I briefly hesitated.

“... Global International Force.”

“Is that a nation's prefix?” still picking his nose, the Maxtopian inquired.

“No… that is indeed not the prefix of a nation, Sir”, I corrected him.

“How can an organisation be accredited to…? Oh by Weasley, please don’t tell me there’s a treaty involved here as well?”

I see. Even this drab of a failed creature can see through the absurdity of this charade I must represent.

“Yes… actually. There is a bilateral treaty involved here.”

“Ohhh…”, the Bigtopian and Maxtopian, wide eyed, looked at one another understandingly. “Is this one of those failed experiments involved with one of those unstable national leaders of our diverse realms?”

“I wouldn’t say His Imperial Majesty is…”

“Do not worry, my friend, what is not known are best left out open from the heart”, the Bigtopian nodded, smiling; to be followed with the same expression of approval from my other seated neighbour.

And through the flight, Dear Journal, I have had quite the outpouring of emotion and disbelief: at the apparent insanity of our Emperor, and at the issuance of ‘bilateral’ treaties being thrown left and right to accommodate regimes of dubious track record.

My flight should arrive in Krakadarek tomorrow morning, and let’s hope then and there that it will be one heck of a fine sunny morning indeed; for I will need all the psychological help I can get to get through this thing.
