The ABMS-1 is a joint US-Khodoristan all-aspect air defence unit, capable of engaging aircraft, helicopters, cruise missiles, ballistic missiles, and sattelites. The J-4 missile is intended to intercept and destroy airborne targets at a distance of up to 400 km (250 miles). The radar system possesses advanced capabilities against low flying and low RCS targets. The LIP-7 Radar has a dectection range of 640 km, and has been able to successfully detect the F-117 stealth fighter in multi-nation wargames. The 4 missiles are mounted on a modified Oshkosh HEMTT 10x10 truck. Loading takes appx. 10 minutes, with re-loading around 20. A typical battery consists of 6 launchers, a command vehicle based on the LAV-25, target acquisition, designation and guidance radar vehicles, and crew quarter vehicles. The missile was tested near the town of Joer, near Kylmenburg, from 2003-2007, and entered service in the US in 2008, with the first batallion being deployed to guard New York City. Khodoristan received its first batallion in February 2009.
