Ten seconds in, the pathway was taken away, and demolished into scrap. If she had continued, she would've died.

A new pathway was put into place seconds later, this one comprised of gears. Moving forward would be difficult, but at least she'd be alive.

The Mechanical being nodded, and allowed her to continue on her way.

The being kept following her.

As all students progressed, Mechanus began teaching them about the energies of Law, how it related to Magic, it's opposition to Chaos, and it's importance in the overall scheme of things. It also taught them the plane's own importance to the scheme of things, as the enforcer of Natural and Physical Law. It was the cosmic housekeeper, as it were.

Eventually, Jenny came to a spot where she needed help to cross, in the form of a pair of scales that needed a second person to hold one down, while the other crossed.

"Could I ask a favor of you?" She asked

He stood on the scales, so that Jenny could cross.

"You are welcome." The being said, then it promptly jumped off the scales and into the depths of the machinery.

"He is not dead." Mechanus said reassuringly.

They reached the center of Mechanus, a collection of large buildings.

Inside one The Masters could be seen. A sign on the building read

"Welcome to The Warhaven Central Bureaucracy. You don't have an appointment, go away."

"What!" Thrower exclaimed "We came all this way because we were told to and now some sign is telling us to go! Bloody Bureaucracy!"

"That's why their stationed here." A mechanoid being guarding the entryway said.

The Masters gestured for them to come in.

"Can't let you do that. No appointment, no entry." The mechanoid being said.

"Their with us though." Xos protested.

"Irrelevant. All entrants must have seperate appointments." The being replied.

"Then just wait out there." Xos said.

"Not possible. There is no loitering in the Central Processing Units." The Being said.

"Then what are they supposed to do?" Xos asked.

"That's not my problem." The being said.

"It was just a statement." Xos muttered.

"Look, if your going to be this much of a problem, then I have no choice. Begone." The being said.

White light surrounded them all...

And...

They were back on the school grounds, in the cafeteria.

"What a headache that was. Take the rest of whatever week it is off, we'll start fresh monday." Xos said.

Thus came monday, and a return to studies, which became increasingly more complex, science, magic, combinations of the two, and potions. There were massive volumes of information to be learned.

Plus, The Apprentices had to begin giving opinions for the decisions of the Masters.

After being well rested the students returned to study with great gusto.
There were very few negative opinions given to the Apprentices, aside from the odd "Rahegalhoff is a sadist".
James himself suggested arranging a visit from The Minister Of the Ministry of the supernatural for Moral purposes, to show someone from The Floor Kippers who had excelled in the study and use of magic

This suggustion was taken up, and in turn, James was placed in charge of making it happen.

"There's something else we have to consider. Bureaucratic Schools have a Work-Study period, in which students of varying levels are sent out and work with various businesses and government entities. It serves two purposes.

The first is to help the students begin making long term plans for their life after school. I never promise adventure, but I do try to make sure they can have at least a desent life after school.

The second helps with that, in that it gives all those that they work for a chance to see the new blood in the workforce first hand. Many of the better students actually graduate with a career waiting for them.

That needs to happen here, too. I want to be able to graduate this class, knowing they'll be able to have at least a desent life after school." Xos said.

"Sir Baron will know of a few Places in need of Magic users" James said "He's had tons of requests for Magical non-emergency help but he's had to turn them down, He's too busy with other stuff you see"

"Sounds perfect. It won't be right away. Kalia needs to get the Spirit, Energy, and Written students officially certified as Registered Nurses, something their all qualified to be by this point. School doesn't end there, not by a long shot. No, after we're done, they'll be Doctors, or Healers, or whatever title they wish to use.

Dr. Tottenkauffen was her last student, and he's famous throughout The Bureaucracy for his skill.

My point is, Spirit Students will probably naturally gravitate towards the medical fields, and I don't want a silly license or certification standing in their way." Xos.

And with that, school continued on, the teachers beginning to talk about the work-study period, between subjects.

Meanwhile, Kalia bravely opened up the subjects of DNA, how to read it, how to write it, and how to change it. It was highly advanced medical knowledge, requiring very sophisticated equipment very few hospitals in Warhaven had.

It became clear then, Kalia, the other Masters, and the teachers were teaching things by The Bureaucracy's level of technology, not The Floor Kippers.

This caused a small amount of worry amongst the students and apprentices
"Um, Kalia, Isn't it a little dangerous to teach medical techniques for which the equipment doesn't exist in this country?" Simon asked

"Not really, because as you'll find in this next chapter." She started, then continued on to hyper-complicated spells that took the place of the machinery, requiring far more work, even with a computer, to pull off.

This technique was far more prevalient, and took several days to accomplish when properly used.
