The Kingdom of Costa Luna
War, and violence and strife stop here; they simply cease to exist. There is no misfortune, no hardship. There is never a lack of anything; and here evil does not exist. This is neither a boast nor propaganda, but the simplistic truth of being a happy people that the world has forgotten and left to their own devices. The small island state was no larger than the Amerikan's 'Maryland' and no smaller than that either. Sparkling white beaches and tropical trees covered the coasts while the interior had many towns and only two things that any westerner would recognize as a city.
A good deal of what was once forest was half-cleared to create half-wild farms that the people grew their stock of food from; simple stuffs that thrived in the environment provided by nature. What plains there were found themselves consumed by either live-stock, or small townships. The people themselves seemed out of place; in a region were people were notably dark due to the descent of labor-slaves. These people were different, Castellian in descent they had the look of native Spaniards; spoke the same language without a dialect and their culture half-mirrored that of their mother country; the Spanish Empire.
The idyllic atmosphere, the simple way of things made the place comfortable to the feel and the sight. A place to escape the woes of the world, a last safe haven. The Island of Paradise.
New Madrid - 1951
His Royal Majesty the King of Costa Luna was one of the few remaining absolute monarchies on Earth. A compassionate and caring ruler [as were all Costa Lunan Monarchs] he cared more for the welfare and being of his people than he did for the greater matters of the world, leading to a rather isolationist population who knew little of the world outside of their island, in fact; their world was that island. They had no international friends, and lost sight of contact with Spain many years before. Radio was absent, and so were many other modern comforts but at the same time they did not see themselves as backwards simply because they didn't know there was another way to go about things.
Still there were a few Costa Lunans who knew better; who knew the amazements of the greater world even if the King (as great as he was) did not. So there were a few ministers who spoke with him, and a letter was written and it was sent to a place that probably didn't know they even existed. They held their breath then, and awaited a reply.
