How ignorant can you get?

Wait the media not pay attention to sensationalist, unfounded bullshit? LOL. Remember next year is 2012.

I guess ignorance is good press....

Earth II Awards

It is time to actually have some Earth II Awards. We did this once (or twice) in the past when we were on Jolt and it was a resounding success and a big hit amongst the players. RomeW and Brink most likely remember them. It was fun to note that a fictional RP of a War with Penguins actually won major awards and why shouldn't it, it was hilarious and fun. With that in mind, here's how these awards will work, to make sure they are even and fair for all.

There will be five categories available with the following rules:

  • You must be a member (of any type) of Earth II as of this post
  • You must post with your registered Earth II nation and not a puppet
  • You cannot self-nominate
  • All nominees require at least two nominations to get onto the ballot in their specific category
  • Each category can have a maximum of one (1) nomination
  • All categories have specific criteria that must be met

Categories
  • Best RP
    • The RP has to have a minimum of 20 IC posts not including disclaimers and OOC info pages that take up a single post (obviously if these are within an IC post disregard)
    • The RP must be completed and have an ending
    • It can be a collaborative effort
    • It can be part of a larger RP (i.e. a single RP story within a larger chronicle, for example) but must meet the first two criteria
    • You can nominate an RP you started so long as at least one other participant has a minimum of 5 IC posts
    • You can nominate any RP you've taken part in or not taken part in
    • You must provide the name of the RP & a link [for verification purposes]
  • Best New RPer
    • Member must have joined Earth II on or after July 25, 2009, when we switched to the new forums
    • Member must still be active on Earth II
    • Utilize the Spreadsheet, which lists Join Date
  • Best Old RPer
    • Member must have joined Earth II before July 25, 2009, when we switched to the new forums
    • Member must still be active on Earth II
    • Utilize the Spreadsheet, which lists Join Date
  • Best Past Member
    • Member must not be active on Earth II anymore
    • Member must have left Earth II on or after July 25, 2009, when we switched to the new forums
    • Utilize the Archive Spreadsheet, which lists Join Date
  • Most Improved RPer
    • Member must have joined Earth II on or after July 25, 2009, when we switched to the new forums
    • Member must still be active on Earth II
    • Utilize the Spreadsheet, which lists Join Date

Please utilize the nomination form below and post your nominations here. Nominations will be OPEN UNTIL JUNE 1, 2011. You may submit only one nomination form. If you wish to change your nominations EDIT your original post and do not post a new form.

question:

does knowingly nominating the mods curry favor?
The Earth is a very small stage in a vast cosmic arena. Think of the rivers of blood spilled by all those generals and emperors so that, in glory and triumph, they could become the momentary masters of a fraction of a dot. Think of the endless cruelties visited by the inhabitants of one corner of this pixel on the scarcely distinguishable inhabitants of some other corner, how frequent their misunderstandings, how eager they are to kill one another, how fervent their hatreds.- Carl Sagan

So writing for Kaliningrad is going well. Not sure if you fellows know this but aside from the Emperor and Jack Delaney I do have another major character. He's received little play here on the New NS Forums but on Jolt he was used frequently. His name is Andrew Hunt and he's an MOI officer. He's got a long career that goes back to the 80s. He really made his debut in Kaliningrad, which was his first assignment as an agent. He had been an asset prior.

So here's sort of a character list:

The Emperor (Srsly???)
Jack Delaney (Force Falcon)
Andrew Hunt (MOI)
Roy Deckard (MOI)
Tricia Watson (Delaney's non-legal wife [they just never got married])
Rachel Wilson (Emperor's long-time wife [also non-legal])
Adam Fordham (ILAF)

Tricia & Rachel had a lot of roles in Ride the Lightning but not so much since. Tricia makes her debut in Kaliningrad too and Rachel Wilson was basically the Emperor's significant other since the 80s or 70s, one of the two.

INPEX Announce Development of Mammoth Floating Oil Refinery
24th May 2011
Hi No Moto National News

In a statement to the press this morning Naoki Matsuo, Chairman of the INPEX Corporation, announced the company’s plans to begin construction of a giant floating gas refinery, named the Ishimura, in a project that is to cost ¥818 Billion [$10 Billion]. The ship will allow gas extracted by drilling rigs and platforms far out at sea to be transferred to the ship where it will then be processed and will remove the need for pipe lines connecting the offshore rig to a refinery on land. It now means that INPEX will be able to drill for gas in new fields that are hundreds of miles from the nearest land. The Ishimura is the next logical development for oil companies as new supplies of oil and gas become much more remote in their locations allowing the companies to easily extract the oil and safely transport it back to land. The whole process of refining the oil on-board and transporting it to land has come under increasing inspection from the Ministry of the Environment who have questioned whether this floating oil refinery could pose a catastrophic environmental disaster if its safety parameters were breached or if it were beached. INPEX has however been working closely with the Ministry and the Imperial Diet as a whole to make sure its new venture is within strict government guidelines.

The Ishimura herself will be exactly 488 meters long and weighs an impressive 260,000 tons unladen and increases to an even more impressive 600,000 tons when filled with gas. The gas will be extracted from the ground by separate production platforms that will be piped to the ship and be liquefied on-board by cooling it to minus 162C. The process will reduce the volume of the gas by at least 600 times experts have said. The gas can then be transferred to tankers which can ship it to anywhere in the world. Sources from INPEX had revealed that construction will take place in Southern Korea which has surprised many who believed in would be constructed somewhere in Japan. A completion date has been set sometime in 2016 where the ship will then be moored in the Timor Sea where it is expected to produce a minimum of 110,000 barrels of oil in gas a day.

Chairman Naoki Matsuo said “This innovative FLNG [Floating Liquefied Natural Gas] that our experts have developed will allow us to develop offshore gas fields that would have otherwise been too costly to even try and develop. Our decision to go ahead with this project is a breakthrough for the LNG industry and is giving it a significant boost to help meet the Empires growing demand for the cleanest-burning fossil fuel. Because of this breakthrough we are also looking for other interested companies who can benefit from this design and make sure the LNG industry is very strong and competitive.”

So in relation to this would anyones countries be willing to gain the services of INPEX in the near future to reach some of those more distant gas fields? I'm not sure if anyone else has any companies which use FNLGs [which will suck if they do] so if not then INPEX is for you!

And yes this was heavily influenced by Shells recent announcement but who cares.

The Empire operates some of these around its territory off of Canada, the United States, Mexico, Ireland, and other small places. None are this large though but we do have a fair bit of them.

I think in the meantime project for Kaliningrad will be defining the Empire's various prisons and what not but really just the bad ones, the maximum security ones because who cares about anything else.

Yo, Georgia is in control of the Ushi so it is no longer a RP on the national stage. What I do need however is for interested parties (GLICK) to RP criminal elements or wealthy citizens as they try to flee before all bank accounts and such are frozen. The chaos of the riots you see, it demands that the Ushi be given access to all banks for the purpose of....safekeeping.

Will be elaborated but long story short, the Russian Mob has taken over Georgia and Russia herself is not far behind. RP some people who want to GTFO.

Also, I need more than just Glick for this girls though he is a talented writer on his own. By more I need quantity not quality.

Congrats.

The ILM now has a single trainer for both land & navy and it's better than the T-45 and T-38 combined. Woot! I'll actually be opening a new storefront soon on NS and I will export this as the F-54 Adder (T-54B for trainer). The F-54 is a dedicated COIN aircraft with a short take off, decent warload, and good handling.

So I'm looking at 4 army groups for a total of about 1,600,000 men. There should be around 21,000 tanks.

There's no formula really that I did that would suffice what you have there. I worked it from the ground up and started with the platoon / squad level and worked up to brigade. I had previously wanted to make the regiment by basic maneuver unit but I would have had like 5,000 tanks at that level, makes no sense I know. I organized it far better on brigade level. My division basically has 1 infantry and 1 cavalry brigade and the cavalry brigade can put the entire infantry brigade in its vehicles and move out if it needs to go somewhere faster. I think I can put 2 or 3 companies in just IFVs alone and the rest in armored trucks and regular trucks.

My airborne forces have vehicles as well and I will have 4 army groups, 4 corps of airborne, and 8 QRF groups (2 per airborne corps). The QRF group got meaner let me say that :).

My basic squad is 5 men (1 rifle team of 3 men and 1 special team of 2 men). Special teams are LMG, Marksman, Anti-Tank, etc. When I know the design is sound I'll print it to PDF and post it for people to see. I have to polish off the ILDF and ILMC now. The ILMC organization is done so far but I may have to redo the vehicles now since that is regimental organized and has to stay regimental. The ILDF will use the same organization as the ILA just not go to the group level. I'm thinking I'll stop at the corps level, which is 24,500 men.

Ya I plan on getting down to the nitty gritty here shortly so I can expand on the smaller units in my armed forces.
