Today on the 10th of January 2011 has Government of Free Tristania delivered on a promise given by them to the people of Free Tristania that the overseas territory of Robbeneiland would receive greater homerule in the year 2011. Robbeneiland has now been designated an equal of the newly established Commonwealth of Free Tristania (comprising of the Community of Free Tristania and the Community of Robbeneiland).

Robbeneiland is located some 15 kilometres before the coast of Globexanter in the region known as the 10.000 Islands. According to the constitution it is set to become a democracy with it's own Island Assembly (Eilandraad) headed by the representative of the State President (Staatspresident), Goewerneur-Generaal or Governor-General S. de Swart.

It's Island Assembly will convene at Council House - which used to be a small former theatre and have a membership of 25 elected representatives.

The islands that are outlying are de Rots (4 inhabitants , a small lighthouse and communications relay station 9 kilometres from Globexanter) en Duikereiland (80 people in a couple of villages). The islands are almost completely demilitarised and there is only a local military police force present that will be recalled when the local constabulary is established. This by special request from the population.

There seems to be problem with the connection on Robbeneiland as they are facing very rough weather. Maybe the transmitter doesn't work. In that case we should be called via Globexanter very soon.

The economy of Robbeneiland is mainly agricultural as of yet.. although recently also fields of phosphate and natural gas were found. It is laying at a windswept position which means that some of the areas outside the coral ring can be used for wind power.

At the Raadshuys (Council House) islanders and members of the council convened to see the very moment of transfer of authority and the installation of home rule. Den Uyl who had landed on the island while en route home from Candonia officially signed the document that would transfer sovereignty to the islanders. Before his pen had even reached the paper the people were applauding enthusiastically prompting Den Uyl to jokingly ask Governor-General de Swart "how much the islanders wanted to get rid of the government. De Swart just smiled and said "not at all.. we are really glad with home rule. Now we can do our own thing - even when it is on a small scale."

Silence fell in the plenary hall when the flags of Free Tristania and Robbeneiland were hoisted up and Die Stem (the national anthem) was played. People stood there with tears in their eyes and Den Uyl personally wasn't sure whether it was because they saw their own flag hoisted up or the flag of the Commonwealth in general. He knew one thing. The Community of Free Tristania as a unitary state was no more. Today a Commonwealth was born consisting of Free Tristania and a couple of islands several thousands of kilometres away.

2_ Protection against Foreign Raids.
3_ Anti-Piracy patrols in your sector would seriously increase marine business.
4_ An underground tunnel may be able to be built to connect the United Kingdom of Globexanter and Robbeneiland.

The States-General has voted on the matter and consulted the local government on Robbeneiland and has reached a decision. The sea lanes and airspace above Robbeneiland can be used by the Globexian National Forces as well as being used by civilian and commercial parties. A joint Free Tristanian (plus local militia) -Globexian force will patrol the island on regular spotchecks to ward off encroachment by smugglers or human traffickers.

However it is the request by the local government that any slave escaping from the United Kingdom in the area of Robbeneiland is deemed a free person upon entry and cannot legally be retrieved.

When it comes to the tunelling project the government of Robbeneiland is considering it but has asked the government of the Commonwealth for advise on the matter and the government is proposing a joint Free Tristanian-Globexian geological survey of the area in order to establish the best route for a tunnel as it seems that the bedrock 2 kilometres short of the Globexian coast is unstable.

As you have seen, the Coastal area in that exact location is not too secure. However, a Search indicates that the area turns into normal ground after a few dozen Meters. Therefore, we tunnel would have to appear a bit more in-land in Globexanter and the slope to Robbeneiland will have to start earlier.

On the Slaves issue, the Government does not control slave trades. Globexanter " Mafia "'s control it and they dont let them get away. The only demand to the " Mafia "'s ( except the other ones ) on the Slave Trading is that all slaves are not from any Treaties ( such as our one with Free Tristania, and others ) and that they are kept in an area which is in a good condition.
