A soldier leaped off the tram when it stopped and urged the people to step back. They were now standing on a small square, surrounded by houses. With a fountain in the middle and trees and flowers everywhere. An ideal place for something to hide.

"I am calling the radio station asking them to get people indoors." Coetzee got his cellphone out and called a number. He walked away a bit and began talking to someone on the other side. "They have to get off the street in no time. If there is something here then it will be a massacre. Yes I am a police officer. We are standing here with army people. Guns drawn and all." He signalled Andrews and walked into a small alleyway "Yes.. come on already. Broadcast it." Suddenly he stopped. People on a small stairway leading down to the bay stopped walking when they saw a couple of sailors going into a house and dragging out people. "Keep moving !" One shouting "Up against the wall !" while a group of men got thrown up against a whitewashed wall. One sailor tore a man's pants down "A weapon !" he shouted.. using his free hand to hand over a pistol to his colleague.

"These are MilInt folks getting arrested.." Coetzee said to Andrews. The officer took got Maxime and turned him around. "You don't have to watch such stuff." he said.

" Good to see. However, the warning to the crowd is taking too long. " said Andrew.

He pulled out his most noisy pistol and a flare gun. He pushed his way into the middle of the crowd.
Using a trick he learnt, he fired the flare then shot it with the pistol, making a massive explosion similiar to a missile exploding.

People dove to the ground and panic ensued for a moment and the officer climbed up a a wall that was standing there knowing that if someone would shoot him it would be all over for him. "People.. go home. There is a small war going on here. This is not the place to be at all !" He pointed at the MilInt people that got searched and dragged away "They could have fired into the crowd at any moment. Pass it on !"

In an attempt to make it clear to the entire town, andrew took a large rocket launcher from one of his men, which he fired upwards.
He then fired a flare, shot the flare which hit the rocket, which created a medium explosion mid-air and an even bigger noise.

(OOC: It's a big city with millions of inhabitants but a relatively small Old City)

From a shop a radio broadcast could be heard that was put up aloud "The National Military Movement urges people to stay indoors. There are snipers active within the city and outside the city there is combat going on. Celebrating now while it may cost you your life is unforgivably stupid. Parents.. bring your children indoors. There are snipers active within the city."

People began to disperse but Coetzee knew that in the next square it would be the same mess. A couple of soldiers began to escort civilians away from the square. "Get on a bus, a tram, a metro.. anything. Get out of the city. NOW." A soldier told a couple of students in their school uniforms. "Are you trying to get yourselves killed ?"

The men who knew how to talk the National language started using microphones to pass the radio message calling for everyone to stay inside, whilst looking out for any possible foes.

Coetzee walked into a street and heard the roar of tanks driving by. Also here were people greeting them with enthusiasm. Flowers were given to some soldiers. Coetzee was shocked to see that there were those that put a flower in their rifle. Without him knowing it. A name for the revolution was born on that street that would be passed on from person to person. Die Blommerewolusie , the Revolution of Flowers. For the people in Handelshaven it seemed to be a relatively bloodless coup - at least until then.

He quickly dragged a soldier aside "We have to get those people off the street. MilInt could be anywhere. He looked up to the windows of the buildings. A soldier nodded. "This is a crazyhouse. Like the war is over already ?!"

Meanwhile before Parliament House and the headquarters of MilInt itself the streets were closed off and soldiers tried desperately to keep people at bay. A young captain stepped forward "You have 20 minutes to surrender. If you refuse I have orders to have this place levelled to the ground with whoever is in it."
He made a gesture to his lieutenant. "Get those people out of here. MilInt is armed to the bloody teeth and they can turn this square into a slaughterhouse and I know they will !"

Coetzee took them to a street leading up to MilInt headquarters. Parliament House could be seen from there. The square was sealed off by the army and tanks were standing there with facing the buildings. "They are trying to keep them away" he pointed "He noticed that soldiers stood with their backs to the crowd trying to hold them back while other soldiers before them took two firing lines aiming at the building. Others ran up to the doors and positioned themselves there.

The captain tried to have the square cleared "Soon.. we will use heavy artillery and personal weapons. I don't want anyone to get killed here.. least of all you people. For God's sake.. go home !"

He looked up and shouted up "Five !" meaning that they in there were running out of time. Suddenly a window opened and a rifle came out. The next what happened was that some agents from above suddenly opened fire on the crowd. A soldier could only manage to get away in time. Left and right civilians were falling down. Coetzee dove against the side of a building shielding Maxime with his body and he could only look on with an expression of disbelief.

"Sweet Jesus !" Smuts pressed Kruger down while they laid down behind a car.

Kruger signalled Andrews.. "they are not even aiming at the troops.. but directly at civilians !"

Andrew's men had orders to only fire if fired. Immidiatly, five men answered with supprissive machine gun fire, two started to aim them with sniper rifles.
Behind a truck, one of Andrew's men grabbed a RPG-17 and fired at the top of the building.

Coetzee told Maxime to stay down and don't look up. He took a dive to the other side of the street where a young girl was laying. She had been hit several times in the chest and she couldn't be older then twelve. He had to take cover quickly.. there was nothing more that could be done.

From the road, ten A.P.C.'s suddenly turned up. The 2nd row of the Amphibious carrier, they knew the situation and put their effort into blowing the top of the building into pieces.

While soldiers took cover and a tank aimed his gun at the building a soldier quickly put a young student under a bench "keep laying there.." he begged her. There was horror in his eyes.

The tank fired directly into the building and the central part collapsed. Immediately after that troops began to fire with every weapon they had. "Whoever comes out.. dies on the spot" their captain ordered.

A man in an APC warned in three languages to stay back.

There was silent from the APC's, then they all launched simultaneously a same shell. On contact with the building, the shell burst into flames, quickly breacking more than one hole.

" If that doesnt get them out, nothing will. " Said Andrew.

A tank lobbed another shell in the building and by order the troops ceased firing. Coetzee took his chances, ran across the street and grabbed Maxime. He kicked a door to a shop wide open and pushed him in "You stay there !" he told him.

The troops that they had met before now joined their comrades at the fromt "We are going to take that ruin. If there are prisoners in there we try to rescue them and if there not we shoot whatever lifts as much as a finger !" The captain said.

Soldiers now started to move forward while blazing away.

In the middle of the street, one of Andrew's men was moving to cover, as he tried to move, a sniper got him in the legg.
Andrew saw him and swore.

He grabbed a shield and began to run as quickly as he could to him. Someone tried to shoot but missed by an inch. He then dived to cover next to the man, which he threw back and hailed an APC closer. As soon as it was close, it opened the rear door, dragged the man in and then climbed in himself.

" That was too fucking close. " he said to him, driving to where he ran from.
