To the Current Government of Green Port
The glorious Confederacy of Hugora, that saintly bastion of Christ and God on Earth, has heard the pleas of your oppressed people. Your refusal to allow your citizens even the slightest sip from the cup of liberty is abhorrent and it is the holy duty of Hugora to put a stop to vile dictatorships such as yours.
You have 72 hours to hold free and open elections, under World Assembly observation. If you do not comply within this timeframe, a Marine Strike Force will forcibly enact regime change and install a more democratic government.
Signed,
Julian Bryce
President

To the Government of Astralsideria
The glorious Confederacy of Hugora, that saintly bastion of Christ and God on Earth, is disgusted that any civilized state would willingly support the destruction of liberty. Hugora is not swayed by your condemnation, for you have no moral ground upon which to base it. Our mission is unchanged, our resolve unwavering; we will bring liberty to Green Port.
Signed,
Julian Bryce
President

The die was cast; the dictator had made his refusal to cooperate clear. The Confederate Marine Corps would make him cooperate, or they would find a suitable replacement.
Task Force Dagger set sail from Norfolk, the 3,600 Marines of the 3rd, 7th, and 11th Battalions sailing on three Wasp-class amphibious assault ships. The Marines were commanded by Colonel James Pendon, one of the most experienced officers in the Corps. His face, marked by an eye-patch earned fighting African bandits in Liberia, was universally recognized by every Marine under his command.
Along for the ride was a full carrier battle group, centered around the Nimitz-class aircraft carrier HNS Comstock, packing enough aircraft to win a war with a Third World nation by itself. Escorting this marvel of Hugoran engineering were three Ticonderoga-class cruisers and eight Arleigh Burke-class destroyers, as well as a trio of Seawolf-class nuclear attack submarines, both for attacking enemy ships and land targets.
The Task Force was two days away from Green Port. Until then, it would be up to strategic bombers to show the country how modern war was conducted.
A flight of 12 B-52H Stratofortress bombers, escorted by 24 F-15C Eagle fighters, took off from MacMillan Air Force Base in Virgina Province and set off for Green Port. The bomb bays were loaded with bombs, but rather than explosive or incendiary bombs these munitions were packed with leaflets denouncing the Green Port dictator and urging the populace to revolt.
The aircraft were refueled in midair, and would strike that night. There was no idea of what kind of resistance would be faced, but everyone was confident it would be easily brushed aside.

Sir, I congratulate you on your return to power. My task force, originally designed to depose the dictator which had seized control, finds itself without a mission upon receiving news of your return to power.
If there is any mission my force can assist yours in completing, we will gladly render any aid possible. If not, then I will leave this situation to the diplomats.

“Well then,” Colonel Pendon said, reading the dispatch. “That settles it. Rescind the orders, and await new ones.”
With the apparent end of the dictator’s reign, Task Force Dagger was between missions. Deciding that the locals would know what was best, Pendon swallowed his pride and contacted them. To: The Emperor of Green Port

Indeed, a Hugoran diplomat was now under way, to negotiate a treaty and a lease on a base with this new nation. They could be a valuable economic ally, and a Hugoran base would allow the Confederacy to keep an eye on things.

To Emperor Bartelsman
Very well then. Hugoran forces will withdraw immediately, barring any unforeseen developments in the region. We look forward to establishing a free trade agreement with you, and opening your country to Hugoran missionaries.
Signed,
Julian Bryce
