Asevul In Revolution(MT)

Postby Asevul » Sat Dec 18, 2010 9:29 pm

A large black van pulled up to the security gate of the Presidential Palace. The driver seat window opened and the guard asked the driver for identification. The driver pulled out a python revolver and shot the guard twice in the shoulder before he fell to the ground. He yelled ''now'' to the rest of the inhabitants in the van and they rushed inside the office next to the security gate to open it. When the gate was finally opened, all the men got out of the van and began throwing several C4 plastic explosives inside the van. One man from the group got inside the drivers seat and put a forty pound weight on the brake and gas peddle of the car. He stepped outside, pulled the weight off of the brake, and the van went zooming toward the Presidential Palace. Seconds before the van hit the exterior of the building, he pressed a button on a detonator he pulled out of his pocket, and the van exploded a large hole in the side of the building. They ran inside the building through the hole where dozens of staff working at their desk began to flee in panic at the sight of the armed men. All nine men walked inside and began firing at the fleeing people. They killed and wounded several of them, and began to walk down the hallway that connected to the room and fired at more people as they went. They turned into another hallway, where five members of the Asevul Special Forces had taken cover behind a makeshift barricade in order to hold them back. One of the men threw a tiny green grenade-like object at the barricade and it released an invisible gas. The men began choking and died within half a minute. The entire group pulled out gas mask's and proceeded down the hallway they had just cleared. They approached an elevator with a silver exterior and one of the men, the captain, pressed a button on the panel and crouched in front of the elevator with his Stoner63 aimed at the door

''What are you doing Corstavi?'' asked one of his men

''I was a security officer here once, in the event of an emergency the special forces inside the building are deployed to remove the threat, and I have a feeling that they are coming now''

The rest of his men didn't dare oppose him and they quickly joined him. Sure enough, the elevator opened and several armed Asevul Special Forces were inside it. They were gunned down within seconds due to the surprise and speed of the attack. The group walked inside, and Corstavi pulled out a key and inserted it into a keyhole by the buttons in the elevator, and soon a panel in the back of the elevator was revealed. He pressed floor level thirteen, and when it reached its destination, he ordered his men to the sides of the elevator. When the door opened, the Asevul Special Forces that had barricaded themselves saw nothing inside the elevator. One of them threw a grenade inside the elevator, and it was soon thrown back to them.

''GRENADE'' yelled one of the men as the entire squad jumped behind the barricade. One of the men was wounded by the shrapnel and the room filled with smoke from smoke grenades. Seconds later, the men behind the barricade began choking and when the smoke cleared Corstavi and his men advanced down the hallway to a large wooden door. Corstavi kicked it down and his squad scurried the room. No sign of President Murat. He must of been retreated to his safe room during the attack. Corstavi ordered his men to follow him and several minutes later they approached a huge metal door. It was the president's saferoom that had recently been installed several years ago. Inside the saferoom, President Murat and the remaining seven men assigned to protect him were pushing furniture against the large door to block them out in case they succeeded in breaking through. President Murat pressed a button on a panel and a large video of the men on the other side was revealed on a TV in the room. He looked closer at the men, and saw a hammer and sickle insignia on one of their guns. The communist party was staging a coup. Before he could warn his men, Corstavi began to speak:

''I know you can hear me Murat. Nobody is arriving to help you, as the remainder of my men have already assured that nobody has escaped. You have fifteen minutes to come outside, or we will shoot every single hostage in the building. Also, we demand that you admit to the public that an economic crisis is in effect, or I will personally shoot you myself. Your time is ticking, time to decide Mr. President''

President Murat ran over to a desk that had not been used in the barricade, and typed in his password onto the computer. He used the webcam to broadcast a message to international media:

''This is President Joachim Murat of Asevul. The Presidential Palace is under attack by unknown men. I have reason to beleive that they are revolutionaries from the communist party attempting to seize power by brute force. I have a bad feeling that the same is happening all over Asevul, and I also have a bad feeling our army is in for a surprise.

Murats hypothesis was correct, all over Asevul revolt's threatened the social structure of the entire nation. Police and riot police had been deployed to hold back massive riots by loyal members of the communist party. Thousands of citizens had already been killed in the struggle. They attacked Asevul International Airport and held over five hundred hostages, most of whom were tourist from other nations. For the first time in its history, Asevul was going to war.
Congrats on finding this

In response to the revolutionary attempts, many citizens of Threlizdun have pleaded for the current leading party of Asevul and the Communist Party to peacefully settle dissagreements. Citizens have begun writing letters, hosting rallies, and using other means to attempt to reach out towards the Asevulian people to find a peaceful sollution towards there problems. All violent revolutions are doomed for failure. They must realise this. If this many people believe in the cause, then surely you can elect people to the appropriate positions to get your ideas across. You could possibly even just stop supporting the government. The government relies on the people for power. If the people don't support it, then the government will fall apart. We simply plea that the people do not kill their brothers and sisters over matters such as these.

The People's Republic of Groko,
Haven City

The public was in uproar. Less then ten minutes ago, the city's downtown centers had been peaceful. Busy, but orderly as citizens when about their business. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs, in accordance with government policy, had quietly posted on their website that a diplomat was going to be heading to the nation of Asevul to "initiate relations". No one had paid it much mind, as Groko was constantly sending diplomats everywhere.

Then, as the clock stroked noon, all hell broke loose. Televisions and Digi-screens (What I call those big Screens on buildings in New York) across the capital suddenly informed citizens of a breaking news story. Then a dark-skinned anchorwoman appeared on screen, with a map of Asevul in the background. All over the map little fire logos marked the places where heavy fighting was taking place.

“It’s chaos in the nation of Asevul as riots and devastating shoot outs have rocked cities across the country.” She began, “There have been unconfirmed reports that the uprising is apart of a Coup d'état masterminded by the Communist Party of Asevul. Estimated thousands are dead and…”

The newswoman broke off. A look of deep anguish came over her face, and she stammered out the next words.

“It seems the insurgents have seized Asevul Int. Airport. My husband he’s.” She hesitated. “Over five hundred! Seventeen are from Groko…Jani.” And then she fainted.

At first, everyone merely froze. The story had been shocking yes, but civil wars and the like were constantly breaking out. Why should it matter to them? And then, the newswoman got to the seventeen grokoans trapped in Asevul. At the point, the story went national, covering virtually every TV in the nation. Phone masts across the country were overloaded as nearly 870 million panicked people, relatives of traveling citizens, tried to reach their loved ones. Those who weren’t on the phone gathered at government centers to rally and protest, some demanding the peaceful return of Grokoan citizens while others demanded war.

People's Republic of Groko
Consul Duncan's Office

Chancellor Duncan looked up as a series of heavy knocks landed on his door. The knocks, which followed a pattern used to transmit messages, signaled that something was wrong in an allied nation.

Seconds later, the Chancellor’s desk phone rang. Immediately alert, he answered on the first ring.

“Denak, what’s going on?” Duncan knew without asking that his Minister of Defense would be on the line, briefed with the details.

“I just got off the line with the Foreign Affairs Minister. It’s Asevul; there’s been a communist uprising. Satellite confirms. Furthermore, some of our people have been caught in the middle of it. Seventeen are stranded at AIA, being held hostage from my understanding, and another eighty-six are unaccounted for. We suspect they went into hiding when the revolt broke out, but we can’t say how many are alive.”

“Shit.” Duncan cursed in a very Chancellor like manner.
“Do we have any battle groups in the area?”

“The nearest one is three days away, it’s a Deux” (Meaning it contains two aircraft carriers).

Duncan nodded. “Send them immediately, and get the United Guard (Grokoan Special Forces) prepped immediately. Have a couple squads flown over to the carriers. I’m going to call an emergency Senate meeting. Meet me at the Senate building in half an hour.”

Duncan wasted no time calling his Minister of Foreign Affairs. The man was already busy, but when he heard the Chancellor was on the line he picked up immediately. Duncan ordered the diplomat heading to Asevul to turn back, but kept her escort fighters (two Mig-29s) in the air, just in case. Those two fighters were the closest things to Asevul, only three hundred miles of their coast, and Duncan couldn’t be sure they wouldn’t be needed. A tanker was dispatched to refuel the jets.

Duncan also authorized the Minister of Foreign Affairs to threaten force to get the hostages back.

TO: The Communist Party of Asevul
FROM: The People’s Republic of Groko, Ministry of Foreign Affairs
SUB: Grokoan Hostages

There comes a time in every administration its power is tested by some unexpected disaster. More then often, the administration overcomes and survives the crisis, emerging stronger then before. To all communist forces currently sanctioning the internment of Grokoan citizens, you will cease and desist to do so immediately, our face the wrath of our people. You have got some nerve to call yourselves communists, killing innocents when Karl Marx intended his ideals to help people! And kidnapping the citizens of a socialist nation to boot! No, this will not be allowed to stand. You have twelve hours to release our people. The grounded Grokoan Air flights will escort them home. If one of our citizens is hurt, we will wipe you and your despicable party off the face of the earth. Your acts will not scare us into submission, and we refuse to be subjugated.

~ Signed,
Bobbi Flaptao
Minister of Foreign Affairs, of Groko

A message was sent via undercover channels to President Murat. It had been decided in advance that they would refrain from allying themselves with the Murat administration until all Grokoan citizens had been evacuated. Because of the situation, the Grokoan government could not contact him directly and was forced to transmit the message in code for fear of it being intercepted by the Communists and used as a reason to kill Grokoan civilians. No matter what, Groko's own people came first.

Fyrkanteryr Building, The Inistei Quarter, Central Anemos Rei
45th Floor, Room 1955
19/12/10, 23:46

One of the men pushed the sheet of paper across the desk, and under the dim light, the Operations Officer for Section O, the group responsible for nations classed under 'Others', took it in his right hand, looking over the summary at the top before glancing over the information within. It had come from the Anemonian consulate in the nation of Asevul, shortly before they, mostly DES agents with Holy Office of Foreign Affairs credentials, had taken dispersal measures, splitting up into their operational two-man cells and setting up shop in less noticeable areas to continue monitoring the situation. The consulate itself had been emptied of all vital equipment, then set alight as the revolutionaries approached. An apparent act of vandalism, it would go unnoticed by most; DES cells were well trained in the arts of subterfuge, directly descended from the covert operations carried out from the 1970s onwards alongside the resurgence of the Anemonian Empire. Most agents would live out their careers without having to resort to two-man cellular operations, but those who did spent the vast majority of their careers preparing for covert operations. The DES field operator was just as skilled with a pistol tucked in his suit as he was behind a desk; flexibility was a must.

Unfortunately, the flexibility ended there. What information they obtained would have to pass through chains of foreign policy-makers and diplomatic decisions; the Imperyr Anemonei, despite its military might, was restricted by popular opinion and diplomatic restrictions in its display of force. It was with good reason; diplomacy often achieved longer term results with less casualties, but it also meant that quick responses to sudden political changes was out of the question. There was only so much a skeleton contingent of DES agents could do, and everything beyond that would be considered bellicose. The director of Section O found himself wondering why he had been given the notification from his subordinate; granted, it was in his remand to notify the director, but things of this nature generally ended up in the morning reports. Looking up, he asked "Why do you have to give this to me now?"

"The last page, sir." came the grim reply. Quietly flicking through the pages, he looked over a follow-up report from one of the cells operating in Asevul. Six Anemonian civilians being held hostage in Asevul International Airport by members of the Communist Party, with a genuine possibility of xenophobic backlashes that could result in Anemonian casualties.

"Call the Director." he replied. With a brisk nod, one of the men in the room quickly left, and as the door closed with a 'click', he turned to the other people left with him. "Send this information out to Kar-Fyrkondierikan under a CRITIC-3 label, and forward it to any DES assets in the area. I want information concerning troop numbers, leadership patterns, the like, as soon as possible."

"Troop numbers, sir? Isn't this a political entity?" came the question.

"They've taken Anemonian hostages. I doubt diplomacy will be on anyone's mind at this point."

To the Communist Party of Avesul
Comorostan would like to applaud the brave workers of Asevul for finally throwing off the shackles of capitalist oppression and seizing what is theirs by right. Power belongs to the people, not the corporations and their political lackeys.

The Ministry for the Advancement of Freedom and Equality pledges to do all that is possible to ensure the success of the people’s revolution in Avesul. As this message is being written, the cities of Comorostan are being combed for brave volunteers willing to fight for their oppressed proletarian brethren.

Signed,
Imran Zakhaev
Minister for the Advancement of Freedom and Equality

Sergei Farrishnikov
Supreme Comrade and Chairman of the Supreme Worker’s Executive Council

Farrishnigrad
The Vanguard was the Comorostani advance force, a unit designed to assist revolution in other states. Its members were from both Comorostan and elsewhere, recruited from other sympathetic socialist states. Its equipment was standard Soviet bloc, an incredibly common weapons type impossible to trace back to Comorostan.

Now, two battalions of the Vanguard were being deployed, a total of 400 men. They had assembled their weapons, their vehicles and their supplies, and were being quickly shipped out on a pair of old Tarawa-class amphibious assault ships. It was a piece of irony everyone laughed at, but apart from the ships themselves everything onboard was Soviet.

The ships would reach Avesul soon, and then the Vanguard could go to work.

Asevul Communist Party Letter
To:The People’s Republic of Groko, Ministry of Foreign Affairs
From: Corstavi

If you threaten us again, we will slowly murder every single hostage we have. Your pathetic and intolerant nation will not destroy us. All over Asevul revolutionaries are breaking free of the shackle of capatalist opression. If you make any attempt to intervene in the situation, we will kill every single hostage from your nation in the most brutal way possible. Back off, or they will die.

Presidential Palace fifteen minutes after the attack by Corstavi and his men:

The building had smoke emitting from it, covered in fire with damage to its exterior. Hundreds of Asevul Special Forces had surrounded the building and set up machine gun positions on all the exits. They were under the command of Vice President Alexander Croton who by law, was serving as President because the current president was being held hostage. He was much younger then Murat and had less experience, but he was portrayed as a national hero along with Murat. The Asevul police were also deployed to keep the media organizations a safe distance away. Almost every single person in Asevul was watching the news at their homes. Workers were dismissed early because of the crisis. He ran up to Captain Geo,second in command of the special forces and began to discuss the situation.

''We don't know if they have him hostage or not. We can't get in close enough to see if they have broken through the safe room, or if Murat even got their in the first place. It is too risky to attempt an extraction.''

''Is there anything else we can try to do?'' responded Croton curiously.

''No, there is only one entrance to floor level thirteen, and I have a feeling that it will be heavily guarded. Whoever these people are, they mean serious business.''

''How has the army performed against the rest of the revolution?''

''They have suppressed most of it, but the remaining opposition had resorted to guerrilla warfare in the northern regions. Once we mop up the remaining resistance, I will coordinate my men with the army to flush them out.''

Inside the Presidential Palace, Corstavi was growing impatient. The safe room door had several security features, a password, a thumbprint and a keycard. He thought for a moment and ordered his squad to put all their surplus C4 inside the elevator. When they did, he ordered his men as far away from it as possible, then he pressed the down button on the elevator, threw a frag grenade inside it, and ran out. The elevator closed and exploded on its way down, and their was no way that any hostiles could interfere with his plans. He began searching the corpses of the dead special forces, and found a keycard. He scanned it through the panel and a green light flickered. He went back to the same body he grabbed the keycard from and dragged it over to the thumbprint scanner. He pressed the corpses thumb against the scanner, but it failed to register.

''Probably has to be alive'' he thought to himself

One of his men finished setting up a device that guessed random passwords. Eventually the password would be solved, and all they needed was the thumbprint scanner. He decided to transmit a radio message to the leaders of Groko:

''If you do not find us some way to open this door, then I will order my men to kill every single one of the hostages we have from your nation. You have fifteen minutes. Tik Tok''
Congrats on finding this

People's Republic of Groko
Consul Duncan's Office

Chancellor Duncan stared at the message in his hands. Not only had they denied to release the hostages, but they had openly threatened Grokoan citizens and insulted their national pride.

He sighed; some things would have to be done the hard way. He would get his people back though, no matter what. If that failed, he knew what he had to do. The Communist insurgents were now officially terrorists. Groko did not negotiate with terrorists. If all else failed, then he'd do everything in his power to ensure a swift death for his people.

Deux Carrier Battle group BETA,
Fifty Miles Outside Asevul

Two Gadasi Class Carriers, often known to foreigners as imitation American Nimitz classes, cruised swiftly towards Asevul waters. The massive vessels bore Grokoan markings and proudly flew the Grokoan Flag, as if unafraid of danger even in possibly hostile waters. The carriers, which had been designed to carry an aircraft complement of seventy-eight aircraft each, boasted better defensive capabilities then their Nimitz counterparts, sporting almost two thirds more defensive weaponry in exchange for reduced aircraft handling capability. All in all, the Gadasi were the pride of the People’s Navy, and rightfully so, considering they had cost nearly five point two billion per carrier. The Carriers also had improved radar/sensor capabilities, and had each been given a single multirole launch tube which donned the ships bow.

Accompanying the Carriers were two America class Airborne Assault Ships, with their contingent of forty-five United Guardsmen. These men and women were the top soldiers in the Grokoan Military. Entrusted with the protection of the Chancellor and other VIPs, Guardsmen were rarely sent out of the company of Grokoan government officials, and they relished this assignment.

Their briefing had been simple, break into the airport, rescue as all civilians still alive, then bust out, making sure to kill as many Communists as needed. Several V-22 Ospreys, each refitted to carry a variety of nasty air-to-ground weapons, prepped for landing on one of the Assault Ships.

The Carriers had already begun launching fighters, and well over a hundred jets were in the air. In two minutes the ground teams would be loaded, and the operation would begin. The Grokoans would go in hard and fast, making sure to strike fear into the heart of their enemies along the way.

Almost unnoticed on the second Assault ship, however, was a second group of Grokoan soldiers. These men were Manj, or Marines to English speakers. While these men were also cropped from the experienced and best soldiers in Groko, they were less elite and more numerous then the United Guardsmen. Similar to the comparison between U.S. Navy Seals and their Marines, these men were far from substandard. Close to one hundred of them were armed and ready for battle on the Assault Ship, and they awaited deployment to the Presidental Palace, where they would assist the Asevul special forces. Fourteen of F-35Bs were already enroute to the Palace to provide air support, and the Marines would be following momentarily. The closest F-35 sent a transmission to the Asevul Special Forces (ASF), informing them of their imminent arrival.

Presidential Palace Thirty Minutes After The Attack:

Captain Geo looked at the smoking building from his binoculars. His concentration was int erupted by a man yelling his name.

''What do you need'' he asked annoyed

''It's a message from Captain Grao of the Grokan Marine Air Corps. They say they are on route to our position in five minutes and that they need targets for long range missile attacks.''

''Tell them to negative on the missile attacks. We can't endanger Murat's life. Try to establish radio communication. I have already prepared an extraction team of about twenty men to clear the building and rescue Murat. We aren't giving into their demands, so they will kill him eventually. We might as well make an attempt to rescue him''

The man ran inside a special forces armored van where the communications relay was. He pressed several buttons and began to speak into a microphone:

''This is Private Johnson with the Asevul Special Forces attempting to establish radio contact with the Grokan Marine Air Corps, does anyone copy''?

International Waters
From the decks of the Vanguard ships, Yak-36 Forgers rose from the decks, their wings loaded with air-to-surface munitions. As they flew through the sky, the Vanguard soldiers climbed into Mi-8 Hip transport helicopters, AK-47s slung over shoulders. Some held RPGs or RPKs, and a few had SA-7 MANPADS.

The Hips began to rise from the ships, each carrying 20 soldiers. Their ETA to the Presidential Palace was less than an hour, and the Yaks would get there sooner.

Government Building in the Dominion of Inconcievable Power:
At a meeting of the high council, the absolute ruler, Jason, is handed a report on the ongoing revolution in Asevul. "Hmm...this could be an opportunity to show the world the might of our nation, and possibly gain something out of it at the same time. Have any of our citizens been taken hostage?"
The Head of Foreign Affairs shakes his head. Jason considers for a while and then continues "Perhaps if we offered to rescue hostages from other nations and in turn demanded military technology..."
"How?" demands the Head of the Military, "They seem pretty ruthless. The Commies, that is."
"Threaten a nuclear strike if they aren't released? No...if they refuse we'll either have to back down or kill the hostages...what if we offered military aid to the Commies in return for the hostages? We could even claim a different set of hostages are our own and say that we'll send in tanks to help them if they give us our hostages back."
"So, we're siding with the Commies?" asks the Head of Foreign Affairs.
"No...they're too ruthless to be good in government. What we'll do is double-cross them once we have the hostages. Deploy 2nd tank brigade by airship. Then send messages to the Asevul military informing them of what we're doing so that they don't shoot us down. And then message the countries whose hostages we plan on saving."

We are currently deploying a tank brigade to your country to help in the fight against the rebels. At first we will pretend to side with them, so as to rescue hostages, but will then double cross them and aid you. Please ensure that we are not shot down as we enter your airspace.

We congratulate you on your efforts to overthrow the government and are sending in an entire brigade of tanks to aid you. In return, we would be grateful were you to release our hostages to the tank brigade's commander when he arrives. They have undertaken the action required by our protocol for citizens trapped in a foreign nation during a war and are pretending to be from different nations (this, you understand, is to ensure their safety were one of the factions hostile to our country.) My information indicates that they are claiming to be from the People's Republic of Groko and from Anemos Major. Please, therefore, return the hostages claiming to be from those two nations.

Government Building in the Dominion of Inconcievable Power:
An aide runs to the Head of Foreign Affairs, saying: "Sir, Anemos Major has demanded that we leave them to rescue their own hostages."
"Very well," replies the Head of Foreign Affairs, "send another message to the Asevulian Communist Party, notifying them that our intelligence was mistaken and that none of our citizens are disguised as Anemosians."

It appears that our intelligence was mistaken in one particular - namely, that none of our citizens pretended to be from Anemos Major. All of them pretended to be from the People's Republic of Groko.

FROM THE DESK OF HIS IMPERIAL MAJESTY
ImageImageImage

The Most Royal, Holy And Imperial English Empire of St George has watched in horror and disgust as a once peaceful nation succumbs to the scourge that is civil war. The Empire wishes to extend the same hand of friendship we did some time ago, and hope that this time it shall be reciprocated in kind.
Image

As well as the offer detailed below, the Empire wishes to state that it shall dispatch 6 carrier fleets, totalling around 60 ships, to Asevul. Led by the Supercarriers HMS Douglas and HMS Thomas, and the Royalty-class Carrier-Cruisers HMS Florence, HMS Nemeth, HMS Edward III and HMS Robert IV, the fleet shall oversee evacuations of any English and Allied refugees residing Asevul. We also extend an offer of temporary subjecture to any Asevul citizens. They would become Wards Of The Empire, and would be granted temporary homes inside the Empire's borders. Upon conclusion of the conflict, they would be returned to Asevul.

In accordance with this, the Empire wishes to offer Asevul a place within the Confederacy of English Interests. Such a move would benefit both our peoples greatly.
Asevul would merely be required to:
1. Allow the Empire to establish a 20 square mile military base in your nation, as well as a naval base.
2. Allow recruiters from the Empire's military offices in all major towns and cities.
3. Allow favoured companies of the Empire to circumvent certain business regulations.
4. Allow the Empire to set up a committee, comprised of both English and Asevulians, to oversee Asevulian administration, so that you may become economically stronger.
In return, the Empire offers:
1. Financial aid, in the form of both monitory and non-monitory measures of nation building.
2. Military protection, from the training, supplying and equipping of your troops to use the Empire's substantial anti-missile shield.
If accepted, the English Empire shall absorb Asevul into the Confederacy of English Interests. This partnership shall only last as long as both parties believe it to beneficial to their nations.

Asevul wrote:A large black van pulled up to the security gate of the Presidential Palace.

We wish to clarify, have any citizens of Phing Phong been taken hostage by the Communist Party? If so, we demand their immediate release as their detention is a violation of international law and common human dignity. Furthermore, we urge the Communist Party to use peaceful and democratic means to attempt achieving power and to seek negotiation rather than conflict with the ruling government. As fellow Communists in a democratic coalition we are proof that this is possible, and is far better for both your country, your people, and our shared ideology.

Yours sincerely,

Intervention

Postby Schindivia » Mon Dec 20, 2010 6:40 am

To: Asevul;
Subject: Revolution

I, The president of Schindivia, would like to extend the supportive hand of the Schindivia Military to you in your time of need. We cannot allow terrorists to think any old group of people can "overthrow" the government. People have already started marching on the streets of Schindivia, telling us to help and Intervene. Many Schindivians see Asevul as a popular Holiday location as well as an oversea's learning destination. This means that many Schindivians are currently residing in your country for education or Holiday.
We would like to Intervene, to first secure any Schindivian citizen and provid them with relative safety, and then to help Asevul restore it's government.

Sincerely,
PM Ryan Soper
SCHINDIVIA

EDIT:

To: All other Concerned Parties;
Subject: Intervention Meeting

Dear all,
I suggest that if you are thinking of intervening in the dispute, then we should all arrange a meeting. This should minimise friendly fire casualties, and also enable us to complete our objectives faster.
Schindivia troops for Instance will be wearing a Yellow Armband with a Gold cross on. These are to show other schindivians residing in the country they are fellows but also so other supportive troops can identify them as friendly. Could I suggest you also advise your troops to wear a yellow armband with an emblem of your choice?

Sincerely,
P.M Ryan Soper

Grokoan F-35,
Callsign "Crash"

The pilot checked his radar as crossed the invisible line that marked the maritime borders of Asevul. A bold line marking the border showed up on his GPS, also reminding him that he, and the thirteen other F-35s flying in V formation beside him, were less than two minutes out. The fighters were cruising at Mach 1.4, rotating their afterburners off and on to shorten their travel time.

“Crash” was leading the formation as the front most part of the V. His headgear beeped, alerting him to an incoming message from Asevul ground forces.

''This is Private Johnson with the Asevul Special Forces attempting to establish radio contact with the Grokan Marine Air Corps, does anyone copy?''

Crash responded immediately, cautious of wasting time.

“Roger Private Johnson, it’s good to hear from friendly forces. This is Crash of the Grokoan Marine Air Corps, how can we be of assistance?”

Grokoan Battle-group BETA,
Forty-Seven Miles outside Asevul

The flagship of Battle-group BETA, the Gedasi class Super-carrier UKS Hajsa, was a hive of activity. They had just finished launching two of the ship’s three Hawkeyes, putting a total of four Grokoan AWACs in the air. These AWACs then spread out around the Carrier fleet, boosting her radar range to over a two hundred and fifty mile radius. The Fleet had detected a suspicious cluster of ships not far from their current position, and the AWACs confirmed that they had launched planes. The launch of planes, the Battle-group Commander realised, meant the unknown Fleet contained Aircraft Carriers. He made a note of it and sent out a warning to all Grokoan craft.

The unknowns had been noted to be flying toward Asevul, and Groko wasn’t aware of allied reinforcements. He ordered the AWACs to keep watch over the unknowns from a safe distance and decided that if the bogeys continued their present course, he’d contact Asevul. In the meantime, he ordered the Fleet to General Quarters, and prepared them to make medium-range missile strikes if required.

Meanwhile, in the Grokoan Capital

The Chancellor was in a meeting with his cabinet when the message came in. They had been discussing the conflict and possible actions, checking occasionally for updates.

The message came in via the room’s fax machine, which had been connected to the Foreign Affairs department by an encrypted line.

“A meeting,” Chancellor Duncan said to himself.

“Sir, this could be a trap.” Denak, the MOD, chimed in.

Duncan nodded, of course that had occurred to him. If he or a Grokoan diplomat was taken hostage they could be used as a bargaining chip to force Groko to back down. That said, Duncan was also aware that if the meeting did take place it could hold promising results. Still, he felt it was too early to say. The conflict had just begun, and it was still possible it could be ended in the same week. In which case a meeting would be counterproductive.

He had his Minister of Foreign Affairs wire a telegram back to the Schindivian Prime Minister, and then they returned to their discussion.

“So what if we...”

We applaud your efforts to organize our constructive attempts to defeat the Communist insurgents and return Asevul to its former peace, but we cannot attend a meeting at this time. Our troops will be wearing their standard uniforms, Grokoan Flags attached, so identifying them should be no issue.

''We have a strike team ready to move into the airport. We need your planes to pull off a deadly operation. The roof of the airport is covered in a hardened form of glass, and if you can blow a hole in roof and drop several smoke and tear gas grenades, we can move in without any hostages killed. It sounds convoluted and impossible, but it's the only chance we have. After that, we can move into the Presidential Palace and secure the President, because the terrorist will not have any leverage over us. Over.
Congrats on finding this

Grokoan F-35,
Callsign “Crash”

Crash checked the GPS; their ETA to the Capital was less then thirty-seconds, the flight of F-35s was already passing over the Asevul landscape. There was no time for sight seeing however, and Crash kept his mind on the job at hand.

The message from the Asevulan ground forces relayed over the radio, and he ordered the flight to alter their heading so that they would pass over the airport instead of the Presidential Palace.

Before he could go any further however, the message a message from the Grokoan Flagship informed him that unknowns were heading his way. Their numbers were unconfirmed, but radar signatures had suggested troop transports mixed in. Others were closing in at speeds that emulated fighters.

Crash wasted no time in contacting the Asevulans.

“Asevulan Ground Forces, we concur. We will assist in hostage freedom operation. ETA to airport thirty-seconds, expect boom in thirty. Grokoan Ground Forces are enroute to assist in the rescue of President Murat. ETA 12 Minutes. We also suggest jamming Communist radio transmissions in the airport to deny communication to the enemy. Please be advised, we have picked up incoming airborne planes over a half an hour out, radar suggests guarded transports. We are unaware of any allied operations at this time. Are you aware of any airborne operations off your coast?”

As his mind returned to the prospect of an aerial battle, Crash was electrified. The unknowns could be friendly, but Crash secretly hoped they wouldn’t be. It had been years sense Groko had faced a real battle, and this could shape up to be an excellent and moral boosting victory for the People's Republic. Besides, Crash wasn’t worried, each pilot had years of training behind him, and he knew his men had some of the best jets in the sky.
