6:25 AM, Korongo Petroleum oil well near Otago
The oil well was running smoothly as the workers turned up for another day in the oil business.
"Hey John, was it a boy or a girl" one of the workers asked.
"Boy, we are going to call him Adam" the other worker said.
"Nice n..., wait whats that noise" the worker said as he heard a whining noise coming out of the sky. Next there was a large explosion, the oil well was destroyed and fire was spreading quickly the there was another explosion, it had destroyed the site office. "What is going on" a worker yelled as another explosion crippled an oil well and it fell on the man. Flames were everywhere, a worker was running around screaming as the flames slowly burned him.

9:42 AM, Korongo Petroleum oil well near Otago
The flames were still burning but fire teams had the fires under control but they estimated about 10 workers to have been killed and another 20 injured.

12:16 PM, The Imperial Palace, Korongo City
"According to survivors there was a loud whining noise before the explosions that came from the sky" the man said to the Emperor.
"What, like from artillery" Emperor Robert Bruce V asked the advisor.
"We are not sure but it could be a possibility, the United Districts of 1 have been conducting exercises" the man replied.
"Ok, i shall send a message" the Emperor said.

Johansen looked through his large scoping system on his 90" gun. "did we get the scrap" his gun had been assigned to destroy a wrecked platform. However their target was three miles north of where they had been told to look. "I don't know if we did" a worried look crept across his face." The frigate began to steam back towards port diamonto. The shocking news had been confirmed with a closer look at the charts. "Were not even in our waters" the young navigator spoke with an almost sob. They had slain innocent workers and ran away.

The frigate regrouped with the taskforce. This large fleet consisted of four super-carriers each holding 25 F-16 fighters and several other aircraft. Ten cruisers these ships were the brawn of the fleet with large guns and missile launch racks. On the inside were EM ships with heavy radio gear and large jammers. Next to those were fuel ships carrying large amounts of fuel. On the outermost ring of the fleet were the frigates. Light ships made to combat subs.

Five fleets like this were spread around the peninsula that was the UD1. They were arranged in a picket formation with several smaller ones dotting the water.

The Emperor recieved the message and wondered, 'did the UD1 really attack the well' but just to be safe he ordered two Durango clas patrol boats that were in the area to move to the oil well and ordered the local airbase to be on alert, a detachment of the first fleet would also be sent into the area.

"Are they mobilizing troops?"
Two alligator class cutters had moved to the wreckage. They were there to insure that the attack had not left any discriminating evidence. Two pairs of scuba teams had pulled up a pair of corpses and removed several fragments of shells. They had also removed a pair of powder charges from the sea floor. "Is that a ship?" the two ships circled around the wreckage to see a boat very close.

"Captain, i there seem to be two boats" a lookout reported.
"Are they armed" the Captain asked.
"Not sure" the look out replied.
"Ok, get the Eurocopter Tiger into the air and get the Jupiter to launch theirs" the Captain ordered.

On the helicopter deck the blades on the Eurocopter Tiger span up and rose into the air and began flying towards the boats. The crew of the Saturn could also see the Jupiter deploying their Tiger.

As the captain of the DMS Bedu spotted the choppers. He ordered his stealth cutter to seal the deck and dive. With a loud klaxon it sank into the water. The other ship armed a sam and let a rocket launch towards the chopper. It missed by a clean fifty feet but a second was fired. It slid out of the pod and straight towards the chopper.

The helicopter made evasive manouvers and deployed chaff but the missile still hit and it began spinning out of control into the water. The other helicopter began firing it's cannon at the boat, the other seemed to have dissapeared.

"What the hell is going on" the Captain asked
"The Jupiter's copter has gone down from what seems to be a SAM and one of the boats has dissapeared" a look out replied.
"Fire the 57mm at the boat" the Captain replied
The 57mm gun began firing in bursts of 4 rounds per second at the remaining boat.

The large shells shattered the bridge of the Neros an killed it's captain. The ship began to steam towards the nearest port. The fires begun to spread an the ship slowed as it lost power. It's engines finally failed and it stopped. The boat sat still and it's crew jumping in the life pods.

The remaining helicopter began to announce to the survivors over a loud speaker that had been fitted for it's patrol role, "Cease all hostilites immediately, you are now under the authority of the Royal New Korongo Navy". The Saturn began to sail closer to the helicopter and the lifepods to collect survivors.

As the chopper circled the sailors fired a flare into the air. The flare burst into a bright green light and fell to the water. As it sizzled out the second cutter re-emerged and fired off two torpedoes towards the enemy ship. Its multiple deck guns fired 50 caliber rounds at the chopper. The sailors crawled onto the deck of the cutter and into it's interior.

The .50 rounds slowly began to tear apart the Eurocopter but it began to limp away towards the Saturn. Meanwhile the Saturn began to make evasive manouvers attempting to avoid the torpedo in the water and the Jupiter began to fire on the second boat. Thankfully a group of 5 LY910 Shadowhawks were on the way from the near by airforce base to support the patrol boats.

The cutter sealed the deck and begun to steam away to Port Diamonto. The picket defense spread was compacted to a line of defense around the area of Dezeo bay. Dezeo bay housed the two largest dry-docks in the UD. Several long range bombers had been deployed to New Korongo. Each carrying 10,000 pounds of bombs. War was here...

The remaining ship dissapeared again but did not resurface. The Saturn managed to dodge the torpedoe but barely. The detachment from the first fleet was only about an hour away now. The pilots of the Eurocopter Tiger had to ditch it in the water because it was too damaged to land safely.

One of the two E-2D AEW aircraft from the local Air Force Base showed up on the scene with the 5 Shadowhawks to search for a possible airborne attack.

Across the coast large bunkers were built on the small island that dotted the coastline. Heavy artillery emplacements were being built at major ports around the nation. A grid pattern had been established across the country. Each square was four mile by four miles. Twenty-five troops and two FAV's were stationed in each square. The bombers had been called back at the news of their detection.

Around New Korongo there was a hive of activity. The AADG (Anti-Aircraft Defence Grid) was being activated, a series of bunkers with long and mid range surface to air missiles as well as close range 30mm gatling guns. Personnel on leave had been called to their bases but conscription had not yet been declared.

The E-2D had detected some aircraft in the distance by the fighters were ordered not to attack unless the aircraft came closer. The detachment of the 1st Fleet had arrived, 2 fleet carriers and 5 destroyers.
The rest of the navy had began to evenly spread itself out to defend the coastline.

The Army began to deploy forces around New Korongo, mainly near the coast line and then thinning out inland but forces had also moved into major cities and towns.

There had been no news yet from the UD1 government.

On this solemn day the loss of several sailors and marines to a unprovoked force hath brought sorrow to the hearts of our people. The act of war has been determined the only appropriate response to these crimes. In a vote of 89-11 war has been formally declared on this day December 18 2010. The illegitimate nation of New korongo has been declared an enemy of the districts as a whole and their people. House majority leader the Southern District has confirmed the widely accepted proposal as a serious and reliable declaration of war. Secondary house leader the sovereign eastern commonwealth has showed little to no resistance. The same can be said for the west. The Emperor had recieved the declaration of war, he was annoyed, how could the United Districts government possible put the blame on New Korongo and he broadcast a message to the population to the people over TV and Radio.

"People of New Korongo, the United Districts of 1 has attacked an oil well off the coast of Otago, we estimate that over 20 people have died in the attack. After this two boats from the United Districts of 1 also attacked two Royal New Korongo Navy ships killing around 4 people. Now their government is attempting to put the blame on us. I have ordered conscription to begin untill this war can be ended."

Although conscripts would not be given the M82 they would be given stock piles of older weapons such as HK417 and the M16. Although some nations have made the mistake of not training their population New Korongo citizens recieve a month of military training once every ten years.

Volunteers poured into the recruiting offices. Many shouted the ancient chant of independence that had originated in the early decades of the UD1. zez Ve Kontaz vi mara they shouted meaning "Sovereign inseparable onwards we march." Out of 200 volunteers fifty were sent to the navy fifty to the army and 100 to the IDF. Each soldiers were issued a G-45 assault rifle. This weapon was the skeleton of a G-36 with a larger .35 caliber round. They wore light Kevlar weave and trained for five weeks at a time. Each soldier had already taken tactics, a required class in high school. What they lacked in physical skill they made up for in tactical know how. In public places signs were nailed up through out the nation. They read "Clato is watching"

The conscription had reached Noobvakia, although there was no AADG there were reasonable defences. The 5th and 6th Fleets began to spread out like the fleets in New Korongo. Weapons were handed out to conscripts and SAM launchers began to be mounted on top of buildings. The capital of the colony, New Franz, began to act as a command centre for Noobvakian forces.

The first tactical response force had been deployed to noobvakia. On board the 15 transports 35,000 soldiers sat worriedly in their seats. The fist tactical was only twenty miles out from the shore line and had met little resistance. Several stealth cutters had already been sent ahead to near major enemy ports and structures. The F-16's were readying up for take off in mere minutes. All ten of the first flight carried heavy bunker buster bombs. On the cruisers the first shots were fired as cruise missiles slid out of their tubes and towards the shore. They neared their targets with startling speed.

The cruise missiles began to hit costal targets, the main harbour in Beacon suffered heavy damage destroying several wharehouses and merchant ships. The enemy ships had been sighted by a small patrol boat off the coast of Shackleton and air force bases at Shackleton, Varley and Beacon began to scramble their MiG-29s to attack the invading fleet. Several Block-1 missile trucks drove from local bases to begin firing at the fleet, each truck had 4 harpoon missiles.

The fleet spread out over a five mile area. Several tons of munitions were loaded into the guns and readied. The F-16's roared towards the enemy shore with ferocious speed. They reached the shore but did not drop their bombs. The flights continued inward towards the inner-island bases and installations. Five of the transports came close to shore and off-loaded dozens of zodiak boats. The first boat hit the shore and five soldier jumped off.

The MiG-29s began to split into two groups, the first stayed on course to attack the landing force and the second broke off to attack the enemy F-16s. The first group was nearly in range of the enemy ships and began to arm their weapons, the second group was quickly approaching the enemy aircraft. On the ground the Block-1 missile trucks were mostly in position and began firing at the enemy fleet. Other airbases began to scramble aircraft.

The slaty spray of the ocean was fresh on Baltar's lips as he stared emotionless at the zodiaks coming towards the beach. Such primitive little bots, fast, but one well placed shot could ruin its day. The trick was to fire at just the right moment to catch the engine. Balthar looked to his spotter who gave him the 'Green Light' and took his place in the bush. Ganrag was preparing his MA5B assualt carbine, his black suit was almost daring someone to laugh at him, especially with the smiley face button on his collar. Balthar drew his breath centered his aim and loosed of one shot from his Wolohstinian 1905. the round screamed at a zodiak motor, hittine it almost dead center. With that being done he chambered a new round and moved his postion with the rest of his team. Silence.
