Mayfair Academy, Port Caroline. The reception hall was being rented out by a charity helping children learn to read. Every year the charity held an annual fundraiser gala at Mayfair. Several important people were there, international as well as domestic. The sun was slowly dying down, and the lazy twinkle of chandeliers mingled with smooth jazz. The more daring guests took to the dance floor, while most were sitting back and sipping champagne, with the occasional cough or sneeze being met with a venomous glare.
Caroline sat at a central table, and though her parents were chatting away, she was eying a handsome man. She looked at him with intrigue and mystique, as if an angel had shot love into her. Her stare was interrupted by her mother. "What are you looking at?" Her mother asked. Caroline was then led away to a group of bankers and debs, and she lost sight of that gorgeous man.
