Intergalactic Trade Hub (ITH) FT, open

Postby Balrogga » Tue Jul 21, 2009 9:45 am

OOC:

I am transfering the Intergalactic Trade Hub from Jolt so it exists on these boards too. Please note, I run the ITH as a seperate entity from my nation but use the same account. No transfer of any funding occurs

The origional Thread can be found here:

http://forums.joltonline.com/showthread.php?t=422493

The Balrogga Empire would like to officially announce the completion of a project that will establish the Empire as an Intergalactic Trade Hub.

We have undertaken a project that demanded a great deal of time and resources to develop the first programmable Worm Hole Device (WHD).

The Empire has taken a large number of unclaimed neutron stars and moved them to the Threshold System. We have arranged them so their gravitational influence acts as a lens to direct the other end of an artificial wormhole to just about any place in the known universe.

This means any Future Tech nation who wishes to use the WHD can get to any market to trade their goods. Using the WHD will cut time and expenditures to a minimum, ensuring a larger profit margin.

Any corporation who wishes to use the WHD will route their traffic to the Threshold System or any other system located within The Catalogue. The ships will be scanned and registered before the Nav Computer pilots the ships through the aperture of the wormhole.

The ITH will insist the following guidelines are followed:

1) There will be no commissions accepted to use the WHD against any star or planet. This is not a weapon.

2) All wormholes will appear outside the target system, never within it. This is to ensure the security of the target system is not breached. Again, this will not be used as a weapon.

3) All vessels must register and submit for a scan before they will be allowed to pass through the wormhole. The navigation will be done by a slave Nav Comp.

4) Records of the scan are kept for insurance purposes. They will be held for a period of 10 years before being deleted. They can only be viewed in person upon The Station, Threshold System.

5) There will be no fighting within 1 LY of the Threshold System. The ITH Police Force will be on site to ensure the peaceful passage of all craft. They will also protect ships from raiders within the Network and the boundries around the Gatestations.

6) Corporate and Government Accounts are welcome. The base cost per ship for usage of the WHD would be 100 Galactic Credits.

7) This service is open to any ships that are friendly to the ITH.

The ITH would like to compose a directory of nations who wish their worlds to be connected to this trade hub. All those interested, please contact the Empire and we will add your nation to the list.

Please note: If a nation is in the Directory, all worlds are open unless individual worlds are listed.

    Catalog of Destinations:

Thanks to The Sskiss, a Thread has been started showing Imports/Exports for some members. Please check out this link to list yours so other members can see what you want to buy and sell:

Imports/Exports

EDIT:

Please note:

The ITH may not be used to trasport military vessels for any reason. This is for intergalactic trade only. The ITH will not be used as a weapon of any sort. Guidelines One and Two clearly states this.

If you attempy to sneak them through, the scan will reveal the ship as a warship (the reason for the scan). The ships also will not be navigated through the Hub, resulting in them being sent to an unknown location where the police force would be waiting. It would also get your status reduced to Probationary.

Members on Probationary Status will have all ships searched by hand, instead of the typical scan. This would result in longer delays and increases usage fees. Any further violation will result in being removed from the directory, resulting in a loss of monitary gains to your economy the ITH provided.

Please do not try to use this for any military means.

If anyone see this being used for a military means please TG me immediately.

OOC:

If you have any OOC comments, please post them in the Experiment Thread.

NOTE: The size of the Wormhole is variable so a fleet may pass through.

Edit:

We will both divert one of our ITH Police fleets to patrol the corridors of the Transfer Hub to safeguard the passage of the cargo vessels. We will also place transfer stations at the Local Gates to assist the passage of ships into the WHD and to collect the usage fee. The fees will be collected from the ships right before they enter the conduit via electronic transfer or physical coinage. All Gatestations are protected by at least a Police Firgate which will not leave the juristiction of the Gate Station except in emergency situation on a case by case basis.

The greatest advantage to this system is the ships no longer need expensive interstellar FTL engines to get from world to world. They only need to get to the edge of the system, enter the Aperture into the conduit and travel a few minutes before exiting outside the target system, and then travel in system to reach their ports.

In the event someone attacks the WHD, the Station will Uplift to T-Space and all the Neutron Stars will be spun from the safety of T-Space, turning them into pulsars. This would effectively eliminate any invasion force but it will shut down the whole system for a while until the device can be reset.
(OOC: I was going to ask you if you thought moving this here would be a good idea :) )

IC: The Immortal Lands of the Great Lord Tiger inquires as to the limits of what goods can be transferred. Specifically, our merchant traffic is almost entirely arms trading. Would this disqualify us from application? Furthermore, all of our traffic is escorted by armed ships (a small number, incapable of offensive actions). This is simply a by-product of our goods' nature; if a delivery recipient decided to violently wrest 'their' equipment without finishing payment, we must be ready to disabuse them of their intentions. However, if there can be absolutely no exception, we will consider forgoing escorts within ITH passageways.

OOC: Although I concur with Great Lord Tiger, I am fairly sure however that at least some of the nations you have listed within the ITH probably no longer exist. Also, my listing is spelled wrong. I have another idea that I'd like to run by you. What would you think of a list of Imports/Exports for each FT nation or race?

I welcome this revival as a way to revamp the membership. However, Balrogga, perhaps it would be prudent to cull the absolutely known inactives, or perhaps start anew and let people rejoin?)

What I think I will do is leave the ITH as it is on JOLT for the player still there (yes, there are still people playing there) and restart a different one here with basically the same rules.

As far as lists of imports/exports goes...

I think that would be a great idea but there is not enough room for planets listed and imports and exports for them or just the nation as a whole. If you wish to post them in a seperate link as well as any other information I will make the name in the list a link to the Thread where you go into details.

As far as weapons on civilian transports go. Small calabure personal weapons only. Ship defense systems must be made inoperative before entry and any cargo of arms must be packages so that they cannot be used within the ten minutes of transfer.

This is to prevent anyone from acting as pirates once they pass through "customs". Armed escorts either have to be docked so they cannot be used (restraining bolts, unfueled, or something reasonable) or they can wait back at the starting point. If they are to escort, without being fully docked they would also incur the transfer fee. All logical stuff.

Of course I would still ask members to place a link in their sigs so they can identify each other and offer deals...

This was what I was getting at.

I would be willing to run a companion thread of imports and exports, if you wish.

Then the warship would have it's own military class FTL that would be able to use to get where it is going.

The biggest problem with posting the type of list for imports/exports is you cannot link individual posts here like you could on JOLT. The posts are not even numbered the last time I looked. If someone told you their info was in post #217 of you would not even bother trying to figure out where it is. Inless a way to link individual posts is provided, the next step is to have each nation make a post of their info or even provide a link to their FACTBOOK and have it listed there.

I have deleated the JOLT list leaving Sol, Threshold, and Balrogga. T

he Sol Gate is the default gate for NS Earth. Threshold is the system the ITH uses asd it's headquarters, research and development, and other things. Balrogga is a nomadic nation that abandoned their worlds years ago leaving behind NASTY ghosts. That is why they are under Edict. I will have another RP some day about approachng those dead worlds again.

Anyone wishing to belong will need to post here starting after this post.

On JOLT, I made almost 150 nations, lets see if we can beat that.

As a rather uncommon act, all the Interstellar Transhuman Trading Clans have teamed up to request a permission to use the ITH system to transport our vessels quicly through the vast distances of interstellar space. We have no homeworld of our own, nor are we bound by any central governmental organisation, beyond the leaders of any single Clan. We seek inhabited star systems in order to make profitable deals in tehchnology, artifacts and information.

We have a couple of great concerns, however. Not the least of these is the nature of our trading vessels, known as "Deep-space Superfreighters". They are vast freight/exploration/transport vessels, each of them housing an entire clan or community of modified Traders, plus their servants and slaves. They are not considered true warships, yet most of them carry heavy armament, with many bigger, Colossus- and Behemoth class ships rivaling heavy battleships of most star nations. Considering that our vessels are the very centers of our life - and, in some cases, indeed our entire lives - and therefore carefully protected and husbanded, we'd like to have a special permission to take these vessels through the ITH wormholes without having to fear a displacement or any other nasty consequences.
God was a dream of good government.

OOC:

Updated all the requests so far.

@ Sskiss. If you want to RP this first I would be honored. After the RP we can place your name on the list.

IC:

To: Interstellar Transhuman Trading Clans
From: Intergalactic Trade Hub
Subject: Usage of ITH

Greetings,

I have just been given your inquirery about the safety of the ITH and we do not understand what you mean by "displacement". The ITH wormhole network has been in opertion for centuries and we have yet to have any mishap. We take all profits and redirect them back into research and development to ensure we not only have the most up to date equipment but also so we have an advanced police force to ensure there are no raiders or pirates attempting to prey on our customers. We carefully scan every vessel passing through our system to ensure they cannot be used during transport for acts of violence and each Gatestation has a Police Vessel assigned to it to ensure a safe zone of 10,000 kilometers. If anyone should attempt to overpower the protections of the Local Gate, we can have sufficient police forces there within ten minutes to take out most military forces. In all matters political, the ITH remains neutral.

As far as taking ships through the network that are armed, the weapons must be disabled in such a way it would take more than ten minutes to restrore them or locked out by an ITH Navigator that will pilot your vessel through the system and depart once through the other end.

The Protectorate of the Cerberus Alliance would like to request that a few destinations within their space be made accessible through the trade hub. These locations are Port Station (just outside the Protectorate's heavily defended capital system, Cerberus), and the colonies in the Argus system and the Ancile system. The Protectorate looks forward to working with the Trade Hub, as previous experience has taught that reliability of the service it provides is quite welcome within the uncertain environment that is interstellar commerce.

I have added The Cerberus Alliance to the listing.

I have also added a link to the Thread started by The Sskiss for lists of Imports and Exports under the member list. Please check the Thread out and list anything you want to add.

Tajen, son of The Darkness, Lord Emperor of Warhaven desires that we join, adding the following locations:

Riptide
Mirroden
Ri-an

We also wish to inquire if an inter-dimensional location is too difficult, considering it would be in the dimension referred to by Aquamarinians as The Great Ocean, and as such there is no space, just unclassified fluidic substance that WILL flood the gate station. Also, the creatures moving about might wander a bit close occasionally. It usually doesn't spill over in our military portals, but then, we designed them to account for it. Not knowing entirely if this is possible, we also wish to least the Aquamarinian Homeworld of:

Oceanus.
