Venator Class Star Destroyer (Refit)
Acadia System
8 ACW
It was the perfect system.
Uninhabited, but with an asteroid ring containing a significant quantitiy of resources that could be harvested by the Republic for various uses. From continiueing the Rebuilding project on Coruscant, still recovering from the Clone Wars, eight years previous, to Starships includeing more of the Defender Class Star Frigates, two examples of which now flanked the Battle Lance. The system was also extremly close to the Republic, a little under six lightyears, and had a planet that would be perfect for a Republic Colony, another reason to mine the resoures avaliable. The Battle Lance and it's escorts had arrived the week before to oversee the construction of a relativly small mining station. Now, a week later, it was firmly up and running with the small mining ships moving back and forth between the resource-rich asteroids and the station.
"Captain Sir!" A young Lieutenant begged permission to report.
"Go ahead" Captain Toma Alvaran replied.
"Sir, Obsidian has returned from depositing the beacons in the outer system and the sensor bouys around the orbit of the 8th Planet" The Lieutenant Reported "Acadia Station reports that all systems are operational, and they thank us for our assisstance"
"Good" Alvaran replied "Tell them we're gonna stick around for a few days, theres something in the Hyperdrive Core that our intrepid chief Engineer doesn't like the look of, and doesn't recommend we go into Hyperspace"
"I'll pass the message sir"
"Oh, and all non-engineering personnel have some down time, recommend they use it" Alvaran added "WE've got a tough mission coming up soon"
"Aye sir"
The Lieutenant left Alvaran to look out the viewport in his office, just besdie the bridge. Looking out he could see the second of the two bridge towers on the Venator Class star destroyers, in the middile distance he could see the mining station and it's small almost insect-like ships moving around. If he looked far and hard enough he would be able to see the distinctive form of the Defender Class Star Frigate approaching. All in all, it was good day.
