The two Mexican destroyers approached the beach. It had been a long trip, and life was miserable in the closed quarters of the two Oaxaca-class destroyers. Captain Jose Martinez was out on the deck, surveying the land. His eyes could spot nothing that could be of danger to his two ships. He was not worried. Why would they put him, a Captain, in charge of this operation if they knew there would be any risk involved? He smiled, turned, and headed back inside. They would soon be landing, and the supplies they had carried would be dropped off. They brought along with them a fresh shipment of Mondragon Rifles to assist the Mexican forces against the recent uprisings. Their mission was simple, drop them off and leave. Mexican troops would be waiting there to carry them inland, where the revolts had begun.
