((OOC: Ah, it seems he added you both in before he quit, nevermind.
I don't understand why he quit like this, we were doing so well!

Also Opola, you do realize this is a FT alliance right? Mixing technologies is never a good idea, plus you just nullified your own alliance (arguably) without your constituents' approval, so I'd have to say no.))

IC: The Dominion thanks the Terran Alliances for its support, and we hope to have an election as soon as possible.

Okay, since US and OMG both have disappeared, anyone else want to simply merge IGSC and LAN into one or the other? They were lining up to be allies during the IRON conflict, anyway.

I don't have any problem with a merger, but I'd prefer to have the leadership election first so we have a democratically elected representative.

Current results:

Theline Dominion: 0 Votes

Terran Alliances: 1 Vote

Russian Empire: 2 Votes

Everyone else is welcome to throw their name into the ring, the more the merrier.

By the way, I'm quite new here, what exactly were OMG and US? I'm guessing they were alliances, but what was their exact nature?

(OOC:
Alright, my apologies people. Since every thread I'm in suddenly came to a crashing halt, or I got ignored in said thread, or, in this case, was just having a hard time getting peoples attention, so I was a bit upset. I like sticking to ongoing topics, not making new ones. All the tl;dr for opening posts is hard :P

We can go ahead with the election thing though. The Tsar is only opposed to popular democracy ;)

However, he will seek to oppose any attempts to merge the League with the IGSC. The alliances have fundamentally different purposes. The LAN is NOT an anti-IRON alliance except in a very temporary sense, and, to my mind, Sithy's IGSC declaration contains some rather dangerous language, which I pointed out. Anyway, the League is for states that want to stay OUT of conflict where possible.)

The Tsar will, of course, put his vote towards himself, in the belief that a vested interest in neutrality and free trade rights which the Russian Empire holds will serve as an excellent guiding force for the League.

I know exactly what you mean. I poured my heart and soul into a really nice FT RP in early May, I had half a novel (well, not really, it just felt like it) written in a backstory and I had all of the settings and characters and even plot twists all prepared, and when I finally posted it, it died in about an hour, killed by a newbish thread declaring war on the world. My thread barely got twenty views, it was really depressing.

Back on topic, that strongly worded language in the IGSC charter was part of the reason I hesitated to join at first, it seems very ... presumptuous. It may be needed on the international stage as a peace-brokering force, but it may not work very well if combined with a neutral party, especially if we want to remain objective with this whole IRON business.

We see no reason for a change in leadership at this time. Our confidence remains in the original founder.

OOC: I apologize in advance for the OOC post. However, TFU has recently ignored myself and Kostemetsia. As a result, it is the stance of IRON that you will play with 'all of IRON or none of IRON'. Resultantly, we cannot and will not accept any IC actions relating to IRON from or involving TFU. Therefore, while we certainly do not ignore the LAN (which contains many fine RPers), I feel it is my duty to inform you that in the event the situation escalated to war, we could not in good faith include TFU as an extant party in such a conflict.

It is the general line of IRON that the UTF was obliterated entirely by the Hermes Alliance previously, and we will roleplay that as part of our history accordingly. I hope this does not impact our cordial out-of-characters relations with other members of this alliance.

(OOC:
I'm going to nip this in the bud and ask that any arguments, accusations and flaming be carried out either in the IRON OOC thread or on some sort of messenger. While the notification is not a problem, I don't want this thread spammed with OOC from either side. No blame is being applied, and this is just a precaution.)

OOC: I'm just going to c/p an offer I made to the IGSC here in the LAN thread, removing the OOC argument from said post.

TFU is a reasonably large nation, but it doesn't change the metric of the RP that much, especially when we're looking at the scale we're playing at now. It seems a little unfair to the LAN and IGSC players who are down one of their larger members in case of war - which is one of the primary reasons I myself did not ignore Rob earlier on, in case it was viewed as nothing more than gross OOC powermongering. If we perhaps wanted to work out a compromise - perhaps a situation in which the LAN states are OOCly 'stronger' in the event of war against IRON to compensate for the loss of TFU, I'm sure something along those lines could be arranged.

OOC: And on that note, since most people involved with the IGSC and LAN are at the least concerned with the IRON stuff, the GA is going to be discussing IRON's shenanigans. It's an open forum with no membership to sign up for or treaty to legislate things, so if you want to send a representative just do so and assume that all the travel and docking is taken care of.
