He then handed them out to the group.
"Now, You're here to see me because I'm going to tell you two what responsibilities being a royal in this country has. Of course this is assuming you wish to get married to Matthew or Fenchurch.
The King and Queen have the power to Veto any Act initiating a new law if they Judge it violates the guidelines of the TOP Agreement, They can send this nation to war Just as I can, Though Parliment has to agree with a Majority. They Allow A New Parliment to form when one is voted into power. They partake in a number of Public Apperences and Charitable events and generally make the general public Like them" Nigel said "Its is also the King and Queen's job to accept the pledge of Loyalty that the Alpha Dragon gives when they come to the throne and to dish out Knighthoods"

"That sounds more semi-constitutional then constitutional." Adela said surprised.
Anduin nodded. "I agree. Depending of course on what the TOP Agreement is?"

"The TOP Agreement is the Transfer of Power Agreement. It transfered the majority of ruleing powers from the Royal family to the government. It also sets out the rough guidelines for laws and what the government may not do. E.g. Turn Fascist, Invade the privacy of the homes of the people without good reason, Disband the Monarcy" Sir Nigel said, sipping his tea

"You actually have a law forbidding facism?" Anduin said fascinated. If there was one thing he didn't like about the Quendi constitution it was that it was nothing short of an excuse for itself with no rules outlined at all.

"Well It would Be Hypocritical of this nation not to have a law forbidding fascism given that we fought against it in the second world war" Sir Nigel said "Plus it brings nothing but trouble to a country"

"But plenty of states that has been at war with the fascist filth has no laws against it." Anduin replied. "Heaven knows that the People and Senate has send countless millions of fascists, both within the People's Empire's borders and beyond."

"The Government after the was felt that after the atrocities committed in Incendiox Calx under fascism was sufficient reason to take steps preventing anything like that from happening here" Nigel said "Plus Not doing anything about it in this country would be an insult to those who fought in the war and those who died fighting"

"An interesting idea though I doubt it could be imported. The People and Senate does not wage war against ideologies but only wages war FOR freedom and equality. As such even the most staunchly anti fascist Assembly adheres to the old saying "I disapprove of what you say, but I will defend to the death your right to say it" and would never reduce the liberties of even radicals to engage in the running of the country. Of course as a direct democracy it wouldn't make much sense anyway."

"Well the trouble is there sometimes comes a point where person A's free speech would result in Person B's Freedom of Speech being taken away if Person A came to power and enacted what he preached" Nigel said sipping his tea "People here have the right to free speech and often use it but a Politician's free speech must not disrupt someone else's free speech. Its the sort of grey area that makes a politician's nightmare. No doubt in 3 years time I'll get a Parliamentary Act proposal from a Backbencher that cancels out that part of the agreement"

"So it is a common problem?" Anduin asked curiously.

"Not at the Moment, Its become less of a problem since the Anti-Non-Human Party Disbanded. But there's always the future." Nigel said "Anyway, enough about Politics for the moment. I'm more interested in You Two"

"You flatter us prime minister." Adela replied with a coy smile. "We are just two out of thousands of Quendi princes. Not much to tell really." She continued comfortably resorting to the for her culture so distinct emphasis on humility.

"That doesn't mean anything to someone as old as me, I've met Thousands of People, Hundreds of thousands, there is always something to tell and I'll always be interested to hear it" Nigel said "I'm sure Matthew and Fenchurch would like to known a little more about you both but are too polite to pry"

"Well." Adela said wondering what would be relevant to tell. "I am a princess of the fourth order, sixth degree, of the line of Arabella." She said begining with the obvious. "For those not aquainted with Alcedina ranking of princess that is a fairly senior position." She added with a smirk realizing how strange it would have sounded. "I am duchess and governor of the most amazing tropical island archipelago in the world. My family hates me due to political disagreements, which is why I was recently refused promotion to third order. I enjoy diving, fencing and dancing." The princess said.

Anduin smirked a bit as Adela declared that her family hated her. A bit of an exageration in his oppinio. "I am fith order, sixth degree, of the line of Anarion which is also a fairly senior rank and one I am to be promoted from in the event of my thirtieth birtday. I function as count of a minor and bankcrupt fief when I do not serve in the special forces of the Imperial Navy. I have a falcon named Argenta which I am unsuccesfully trying to turn vegan." The prince said. Then after a moments hesitation he added. "My name in my own, Quenya, language is Macalaurë."

"So What do your family disagree with you politically about?" Matthew asked

"Have you tried feeding your Falcon Kessel?" Fenchurch Asked

Adela looked quite surprised at her cousin at his sudden revelation. Giving away quenya names was not something that was commonplace among their people. "They think that I have to much respect for the Quendi state rather then for our house. It is an ongoing dispute within the house to whom a prince owes the most loyality. House or State. I have the audacity to support the later."

"Kessel, whats that?" Anduin asked inquisitively. "I have tried feeding her fish to start out slowly, not with much succes though. Never heard of kessel though?"

"I'd Say respect the State over the house, but personally I'd try and keep a balance" Matthew said

"Its a Synthetic Meatlike substance, taste like meat and has all the same benefits of meat but is suitable for vegetarians" Fenchurch replied

"My own stance is even less moderate." Adela replied. "I believe one owes alligence to ones family before ones state but shouldn't deliberately work against the state for the interest of the family. But alas my family has coerced its member to suicide for less and those oppinions are far to radical for the most of them."

"That might be worth trying." Aduin said a little sceptically. While his efforts was unyielding he didn't serious think he would ever succed in making an animal such as a falcon a vegan. "So far I have had little succes and there is still some time til my nation will release in vitro meat for general sale."

"Is there a larger amount of older family members in your family?" Matthew asked

"I'll have some shipped to your home so you can try it out" Fenchurch said

Adela giggled slightly at the question. "Not really. My family is very reproductive so only a small percentage of people is above 60 years old. Yet it also happens to be a rather large family so there is probarbly several hundred elderly princes and princesses of the Alcedina."

"Thank you I would appreciate that." Anduin said pondering if his stuck up bird would as much as touch the product. Sometimes the prince wondered if perhaps not a falcon would have been a more fitting sigil then a kingfisher.

"Odd The elderly sometimes tend to hold more radical and fixed views" Matthew said "But then again So do the Adolescents"

"And If your falcon doesn't want it Its perfectly safe for ordinary consumption" Fenchurch said

"Tell me Adela, Anduin, Have you ever had training to deal with things like assassination attempts?" Sir Nigel asked "Or Have you ever had to deal with that sort of thing?"

The two young princes exchanged a brief glance of eyes at the odd question. The correct answer would be yes but that was hardly the most appropriate answer. Anduin shrugged. Why he often seemed more conservative then the radical Adela it was him who answered the question. Truthfully. "All princes of the Alcedina, some more then others admittably, spend time with either the special forces of the Imperial Quendi Navy or the espionage division of the Imperial Inqusition as part of their training. Both forms of training deal with such things so yes we have." The prince carefully left out the fact that both of them where also trained not only to repel assasination attempts but aslo enact them.

"Oh well that's a relief, a good head of state can always deal with the unexpected" Sir Nigel said.

No sooner had he said this when something slammed into the underside of the frozen surface of the river and cracked the Ice.
Fenchurch Leapt into the air with fright and Clung onto Anduin.
Matthew Meanwhile looked slightly startled

Adela was startled for a moment before she rationalized her fear. It was quite possible that she was somehow being tested although she hoped she needed not prove her abilities to counter an assasination attempt. She had never been a good apprentice at the Imperial Inquisition, which she ideologically opposed, and had resigned the second it could be done without causing dishonor for herself or her house. She looked around at the rest of the group camouflaging a certain nervousness.

Anduin, who gave Fenchurch a comforting squeeze, didn't think as far ahead. He had, unlike his cousin, completed training that made him able to seize thinking when a potential threatening situation arose. His only thoughts went to the fact that he could not really reach his sword while holding Fenchurch, much less wield it. To his surprise he also briefly noted how nice it was to hold the princess. Without even thinking about it the prince gracefully swung around slightly so that Fenchurch was turned away from the ice. "What is that?" He asked the prime minister.

"I don't know" Sir Nigel said, leaning over the rail to look at the frozen river and the large shadow beneath the Ice. "But I have my suspicions"
Matthew meanwhile had taken up a position in front of Adela.
Fenchurch, though still nervous, thought how nice it felt to have Anduin hold her and protect her.

Something smacked against the underside of the ice again and this time broke through it.
A large Red Dragon Leapt from the river and over the group, landing softly behind them, Towering over them. He looked down at the Princes and Princesses and smiled as excess water dripped and steamed off him.
