News, where to put it...

Postby Rhodmhire » Sun Jul 12, 2009 3:08 pm

I'm planning on doing a weekly post to display my nation's top news in government, war, trade, etc.

The question I have, what's the best category to put it in, once I get like two or three responses, this'll be deleted, I just don't want to make a big thing and get poked at for putting it in the wrong category.

This isn't in character, it's simply a question.

Thanks,

Rob.

I would say factbooks, seeing that it is facts about events in your nation.

I was thinking FB or II, I'll wait for another response or two.

Thanks for the suggestion.

If you want others to engage you based on what you post, put it in II. Otherwise, Factbooks is probably ok.

Engage as in respond and comment?

Or get involved. For instance, if you posted news about a terrorist attack or something and wanted people to send condolences/send in special forces/counter terrorists, etc.

Well, I was thinking more along the lines of engage = starting a role-play session. Usually in II, when I've seen someone posting news or a press release or some announcement, others start chiming in with condemnations, offers of support, criticisms, etc. In factbooks, it's meant to be a place for you to list your country's info and let it be. People aren't supposed to make snarky remarks or threaten to invade you there.

I'll go for II, just for the engagement, conversation, and so forth.

This thread will be deleted shortly.

Thanks.

Do a newsfeed thread and post it in II. It's relevant to II directly, and you should leave it open for people to respond to. It's not a factbook and it's not "national information" any more than any RP involving your nation could be classified as "national information" (which it could, in a certain context. A wrong context, but a context nonetheless). News threads are RPs in and of themselves, even if you're the only person posting in them, and Factbooks is not conducive to that sort of RP.

I agree with Santheres. Put it in II. That's how it was done on Jolt, before we had these new-fangled "Factbook" thing-a-majigs.
