Proposed Nuclear Program

Postby Muratonia » Sun Jul 12, 2009 12:17 pm

My population is 99 million but it'll be over 100million tomorrow so i am making this a day in advance

MURATONIA 24

Nuclear weapons:

Today there have been talks within the royal family of a proposed Nuclear weapons program. General Charles Aldergrave put forward his proposition in parliament today and there have been mix response throughout the countries.

"As we grow in size we need to grow in strength" says Aldergrave. "Sooner or later there will be war in Muratonia, and nuclear weapons are a good deterrent. Using these we can at least stall the threat of war until we can find a peaceful solution. The public have my word that these weapons shall be used with the utmost care and attention so there is a minimal chance of accidents. It also has the potential to save many of a soldiers lives by not sending them into many battles".

"This is *Censored*" says Henry Jones, leader of the Deuces family. "These weapons have the power to destroy and corrupt the lands for thousands of years. They should not be used at all, we can find other, less drastic means of winning a war, even more soldiers have to die.

"I'm not really bothered so long as our own nukes don't kill us" says Bar owner Larry Owens. "If it ends wars I like it. I don't care what happens to the enemy so long as they stop attacking us, just be careful with them".

There have been protests in major cities but most citizens seem to be supportive of the program. The final decision is yet to made by King Rob Rolmus, Long live the king. Aldergrave will not yet reveal the details of the weapons he hopes to create. More on this story as it comes in...

Update

The Deuces family's minister of the Environment has spoken out against the weapons. "It could destroy so many species and plant life and could contaminate the land for thousands of years. The radiation of the blast can be blown by the wind and could even enter our own country. The dangers are too much. This cannot be allowed". This speech has won over some of the public

To respond to this Aldergrave has shunned the minister and his supporters."Open your eyes. This world is dangerous and we must survive. The situations you describe are worst case scenarios and don't you think we would triple check every factor that could affect the launch? My soldiers are not stupid or incompetent so can you please stop treating them that way. We need these weapons to resist stronger nations, it's simple. The crowds cheered him afterwards.

The king is currently undecided. He now seeks advice from other nations.

Design a cold fusion device instead it has ten times the power of a nuke the same size but has low radiation so little it is harmless to humans

To Whom This Concerns,

With a population of 171,000,000--and a rapidly developing, and immense Weapons/Space Industry, Rhodmhire is pioneering in our nuclear development. We are currently studying other nation's utilization of cold fusion, as well as increasing our own supplies of U-238, and other nuclear materials.

We have two very important projects at hand: The RSSDS (Rhodmhire Space Satellite Defense System) and Nuclear Project 1#1A.

The RSSDS is a space satellite design our engineers estimate will hover over Rhodmhire approximately 270 miles above ground level. The main satellite itself will be launced from a base about three miles west of Rhodes, our capital city. It will have on it enclosed missiles that, when activated, will launch and hit a designated target, whether it be invading armies, a missile, or so on. It's sister satellite, Re-22, will be launched from the large island-city of Bituam on the same day. Re-22 is a robotic satellite capeable of sustaining a reserve energy supply and constructing modest repairs over a period of 10-12 years.

Nuclear Project 1#1A may concern you more, we are proposing to create Rhodmhire's first set of ten nuclear defensive warheads, a project we assume will be completed around this upcoming fall. Although we don't have any completed missiles yet, we would like an alliance with your nation. We too believe a strong nuclear defense is necessary for smaller developing nations such as ourselves. Nuclear trade, plans, engineering designs, and so forth may be traded among us, if you agree.

Thank you for your considerations,

Signed,

President Gerald L. Traddixx, and Mark Vincent of the RMC-TC

NEWSFLASH

The king has announced that he has accepted Aldergrave's nuclear program. The announcement was made by the king in the court of the royal palace at 11:00 AM today. There was a mixed response from the public. Some cheered and screamed "Long live the king" while others took to the streets in protest. The rioters have been cornered by trained police into the Gara plaza. No deaths or injuries have been reported yet and the mob is being encouraged to be dispersed peacefully.

We hope that all will be well in Muratonia and that the rioters will disperse peacefully, however we have readied a military helicopter to evacuate the Royal Family if the need arises, and the Republican Guard have been placed on standby if the word is given from the Muratonian government for assitance.

We thank you for the concern but the riot is nothing serious. Most of the dissenters have surrendered their weapons and they have been allowed to leave. However a police officer was attacked with a Molotov Cocktail an suffered severe burns. He is in a stable condition in hospital. The police have remained calm and the assailant arrested. He will appear in court and will probably be given a punishment of 20 lashes and a 200 Rev fine.

To assist the start of you're nuclear program, we have begun shipping 11 nuclear missals and the crew to fire one of them for a demonstration, as well as 10 tons of uranium-238 in the same number of 1 foot thick boxes.
