Nations Decide! Same-Sex Marriage (N.E. Rhodmhire)

Postby Rhodmhire » Sat Jul 11, 2009 8:13 pm

Attention my fellow political leaders,

Recently, riots, and violent protests have risen in North Eastern Rhodmhire. Just yesterday, fire was set to two buildings in the Central District of Pan'theon, the capital of North Eastern Rhodmhire. Police arrested 26 protesters, all of which were commiting these acts in support of NE Rhdomhire Legislation G-156#2, which would allow marriage rights to be extended to all gay and lesbian couples who meet standard requirements of basic marital laws, regulated by the government.

However, a group of 1,200 protesters stormed through 12 miles of NE Rhodmhire, protesting in two towns and one city in oppositino to Legislation G-156#2. Thirteen were armed and of them, six were arrested for carrying stolen weapons.

July 10, 2009:

It appears Legislation G-156#2 is rising conflicts in NE Rhodmhire, the nations' third most densely populated sector.

Legislation G-156#2 was propsed by Senator May Stanson, (L) in April of 2009. The Legislation states the following:

"Legislation G-156#2: All marital rights reserved by heterosexual couples is to be extended to all gay and lesbiatic couples who wish to be engaged in wedlock in North Eastern Rhodmhire. This legislation is valid, as long as requirements present in current heterosexual marital laws are held and resereved by the couples."

Today, Pan'theon was stormed by a crowd of 3,574 people (est) in protest that the Legislation be passed immediately. Of this crowd, many were arrested for setting two buildings on fire in Pan'Theon's Central District. The charge was plausible threats to other's safety and lifes.

Opposing crowds of about 1,500 also gathered. Many were arrested for possesion of stolen firearms.

(Excerpt from the Rhodmhire Report)

A vote will be held in a week to ban or legalize same-sex marriage in this sector of Rhodmhire.

Sincerely,

President Gerald L. Traddixx

It should be strictly against the law.

The government should stay out of the affairs of the church, Legalize it and let the churches decide what to do what same-sex couples come in to get married.
Government of Leavatia:

Leavatia is an absolute monarchy. The Empress has total control over everything in the country, including businesses (only in times of emergency). Then there is an Overseers Council with 2 Imperial Overseers from each state (13 states) in the country. The Imperial Overseers are elected every 2 years. Although they are suppose to be the people voice in the government, they are merely her majesties puppets who have very little power in the government.

Actually, marriage was an institution before any sort of centralized religion. Villages and towns would 'marry' people together to establish which man a woman belonged to. This concept didn't get any better until women's rights millenia later.

North Eastern Rhodmhire has the lowest amount of Freddie Mercury fans--only 65% of their population believe he's the #1 greatest singer of all time, while in most other areas, the numbers are between 97-100% in favor of him as the greatest singer of all time.

A key factor in same-sex marriage being legalized in all other sectors.

You make a good point, but gays and lesbians could get a simple common law marriage from the state. Making the option of going into a church for such things a moot point.

It should be strictly against the law.

I don't know about you, but i find the idea of any religious institution even remotely being able to influence policy to be an affront to freedom and logic. Still, by what reasoning and logic do you feel that it should be strictly against the law?

THE RHODMHIRE REPORT--LIBERTY REPORTS!

July 11, 2009--by Jonas Lee

Today, Parliament has decided that Legislation G-156#1 cannot wait a week for voting, it will now be held on July 14, 2009. Anticipation is high that it will pass, making NE Rhodmhire the final of the nine Rhodmhire sectors to legalize same-sex marriage.

The last two were Northern Rhodmhire (2005) and North Western Rhodmhire (2002).

Prior to 1974, Rhodmhire same-sex couples were wed without recognition by church or government. They were content with this, but in 1974, Governer Riley Smith proposed Legislation Div-1#1, which would divide Rhodmhire into North and South to allow for "government to not have to satisfy needs of smaller towns and cities through larger expanding projects. Governments would be set up in smaller 'sectors' to deal with smaller more local issues, like local economics, schools, agriculture, and so forth."

In 1986, Legislation Div-3#1 was proposed, which would add Eastern and Central Rhodmhire to the sector list. At this point, no sectors had any same-sex marriage laws at all.

But in 1997, Legislation Div5#2 was enacted, making Rhodmhire composed of nine sectors in total, Northern, North Eastern, Eastern, South Eastern, Southern, South Western, Western, North Western, and Central Rhodmhire. Of these nine, six legalized same-sex marriage between 1998-2001.

Eastern and Northern Rhodmhire opposed of same-sex marriage and made it illegal, Northern Rhodmhire since 1981, and Eastern Rhodmhire since 1989. When North Eastern Rhodmhire was created from parts of the two sectors, it immediately held to the same-sex marriage laws of its parent sectors. As of 2001, all sectors but North Western, Northern, and North Eastern Rhodmhire had same-sex marriage legalized.

In 2001, Northern Rhodmhire legalized it, North Western Rhodmhire followed in early 2005.

If legislation G-156#1 passes in North Eastern Rhodmhire, it will break a thirteen year record of same-sex marriage being illegal, and it will make it the final sector to legalize it, attracting more citizens, and destroying North Eastern Rhodmhire's reputation of being a "vacant wasteland" of the nation.

Just bizarre. Same-sex marriage has never been illegal in Fatatatutti. How can you ban a contract between two people based on gender?

Why discriminate against Muslims? Why blow up black churches? Why move away to another nation?

Because people take the slightest of things and blow them up into epic proportion so they can make a big deal about it.

Honestly I'd just say they were bored if some people weren't genuinely afraid of such things.

Actually since Rhodmhire's founding up until 1974, same-sex marriage wasn't legal/illegal. It was only in the 1980s that some sectors considered it illegal, over Rhodmhire's history of having sectors of land, a majority have legalized it. Only the Northern sectors had a history of it being illegal.

The Grand Puerto Rican Palti of Buffett and Colbert fully supports legislation piece G-156#2. We do however condemn the acts of violence commited by Rhodmirians of all opinions. We call upon the government of Rhodmire to in as peaceful manner as possible, quell the violence that has erupted, while also supporting the legislation.

Might the Prime Minister of the Commonwealth of Omega Uliza ask what these basic moral principles are that would deny man his fellow man, so to speak?

His Excellency might ask anything he likes. Campeachy was founded by pirates, and so it may seem ironic to some that we are so devoutly religious, but be that as it may, we are a religious people, and as such we feel homosexuality is an offense to God. The overwhelming majority of our people agree that marriage is an institution which should be restricted by law to a pairing of one man and one woman. You will find no exceptions to the law on this issue anywhere in Campeachy. LGBT couples are protected from persecution, however, as is anybody else in this nation.

Denying a person's right to marry the person of his or her choice is persecution.
