The Purge (FT/IC/CLOSED)

Postby Telvira » Thu May 14, 2009 3:12 pm

OOC-This is CLOSED to everyone except those who signed up. You know who you are. I've left the OP kind of vague to give Balrogga as much room as possible for his post.

IC-
Zimia
Capital of the United Federation of Colonies

It was the endgame for the Federation. For eight years they had fought this new enemy as it consumed world after world, fighting them for every planet and every bit of space. But it wasn’t enough. It was estimated that some 3.8 billion people had been lost to the aliens, but this was a conservative estimate.

Now the enemy was here. Zimia, the capital world of the UFC, was falling to the aliens. The last remnants of a battered and bloody Army and Fleet battled the aliens to the death for every house, every megascraper. But it was worthless. The enemy soaked up casualties and kept coming.

As the world fell, a last remnant of the Federation’s populace, some 10,000 people, managed to escape, escorted by no more than five warships. They fled as the aliens arrived, hoping to find sanctuary somewhere else. As they fled, the last resistance on Zimia collapsed, and the planet, like the others before it, went dark. For all intents and purposes, the United Federation of Colonies had been wiped off the map. The only hint that it once existed was the 10,000 refugees who had made the warp jump. They headed blindly into the warp, unknowing of what awaited them on the other side...

Re: The Purge (FT/IC/CLOSED)

The Ta’Nar had arrived.

The first indication something was fishy came when radio traffic stopped.

The first to notice this was obviously the ones directing traffic into and out of the ports. The sudden loss caused several accidents as ships collided when they were under control of the local remote navigation designed to guide ships into docking. Many tried to call for help but there was only silence as video feeds displayed the tragedies. Out along the edge of the conflict area there were several 140 meter Infiltrator Cruisersfading into existence. The powerful jamming systems had basically eliminated the ability of the target to communicate with each other and the ones outside. This was to ensure there would be no organized resistance or any reinforcements arriving until it was too late.

The second wave was the Frigates. The Infernal Frigatesfaded into Real Space as they Emerged from T-Space, crossing the Dimensional Veil in strategic locations where they had easy shots at military installations and defense platforms. As soon as the 60 meter frigate appeared, each launched eighteen Grav Torps and then faded away as they Uplifted back into inter-dimensional space to monitor the results of their handiwork. As each of the torpedoes left the sleek alien vessel, they activated. Violet spheres appeared about 5 meters in front of the torpedo. As energy was poured into a single point the violet sphere shifted until it was pure white. Space-Time was ruptured and a singularity formed, drawing the torpedo forward at an ever increasing speed. Defense forces firing at them would only watch in horror as the flack, lasers, or anything else was simply bent in their trajectories and eaten by the singularities instead of hitting the torpedoes hidden behind the event horizons. When they hit they would carve a three meter hole through the target as they passed right through causing decompression on anywhere from exposure to the void. As the torpedo left the target’s other side, it would turn and then make another pass. There was enough fuel in the power core for two hours of operation and each frigate launched eighteen of these.

The third wave brought forth the Interceptor Destroyers. The 120 meter destroyers were as fast as any fighter the enemy possessed and attacked any targets that somehow withstood the barrage of Grav Torps. The destroyers own weapons made short work of shields by irradiating them with electronics damaging Ion Radiation. They then proceeded to slice off guns and engines of the crippled ships using their Cutters, the signature weapon of the Ta’Nar. The thin beam was really only a containment designed to be easily broken by anything in the way allowing the unfortunate exposure to the dimensional ruptures within effectively slicing through whatever it hit as easily as a light saber through a stick of butter.

The fourth wave was the Impaler Battleships. At 160 meters, they were vastly under rated by other ships much to their demise. The small compact ship was designed to take out vessels easily twenty times their size. They got their name by the tactic they would use, impaling the target vessels that were able to resist the advances of the destroyers. They would ram their targets, firing their massive Ion Cannon to take down defenses and shields right before they struck. Once hit, the rams would break off allowing intrusion into the vessels. The living ships would then regrow their spines and turn on another vessel leaving the stricken one to deal with what was placed inside them.

Overseeing the action was the Command Carrier. It would sit back outside the fight and direct the action using either the Space Minus Transmitters or the various group conscious link the living ships shared. In each Battlegroup, nineteen ships worked together as if they were commanded by a single mind, for they were in a sense. This was their idea of a conventional attack, saving their more powerful ones for targets that posed a challenge or simply bringing in another Battlegroup to deal with tough opponents. A single Battlegroup was designed to be able to easily conquer a planet and one would be sent for each occupied planet in the system with an additional one patrolling for vessels in mid transit.

They were thorough and very few ever escaped their initial attack but sometimes they let one or two badly damaged ships to purposely escape.

This is what happened to Zimia. It was crushed and no prisoners were taken. Prisoners were never taken and all those who fell to them were never heard from again.

meanwhile, planet pacific ,underwater pirate base, the bar

the TV:
this is FTLCL the universes only intergalactic pirate TV station, in the news tonight the Balrogga fleet moved in on the capital of the United Federation of Colonies, no wait news just in the colonies have been wiped out!, people of NERV watch out,in response to this the planet fall ships on every planet have been put on permanent standby by the navy, people are saying that this could be the end of NERV as we know it, maybe even similar to the fall of Pegasus, we have a ship near by the capital patching them through.the news reader said in his accent less voice
that's right tom, im here in the center of the united federation of planets, the balrogga fleet has nearly completely destroyed the planets surface, no survivors are being taken but... holy sh** they just blew up the capital building, its lucky we have our dimensional dampeners or we would be toast, they seem to be using some sort of dimensional weaponry, wait look there its a NERV SNBS battleship, the most devastating ship in the verse, she is launching her bombers, the main guns are opening fire...

"that ship 'll never destroy the balrogga" hammerlock commented
hammerlock was the pirate's admiral he was a war veteran he had beaten the wraith many times , he was the best admiral NERV had ever had he opposed imperialism and when NERV became an imperium he became a pirate.
"whys that?"
"because the balrogga ships use a different shield frequency, also because when i was admiral we had bigger guns than that"
"why don't we mobilize with the balrogga, strike back at the NERV"
"not a bad idea, mobilize all the ships"

planet pacific, surface
a huge shadow could be seen moving under water,it got bigger and bigger until it broke the surface and moved along like a huge submarine for a time then it submerged and suddenly reappeared rocketing into the sky , all over the planet this was happening, huge zeppelin shaped spaceships where flying into the outer atmosphere flying incredibly fast for they're size and apparently very small engines, they where the battleships, with all grand collapse cannons, runways, hangars,planet-buster missiles,star-buster missiles,OOF systems hidden under a thin canvas skin until deployment the ship utilizes an SOD shield recently stolen from a test facility

then came the smaller battle cruisers they where the fastest ships in the fleet, huge engines, huge guns, huge hangars, not built like airships they are the most heavily armored ships in the pirate fleet ,with a full hold full of missiles, drones , any other space-bound explosives they are the most damaging ship in recent history causing more deaths per crew member than any other ship in the NERV

then came the destroyers, the destroyers have one role and one role only-the complete destruction of a solar system with only one salvo of missiles they carry no fighters or guns just missiles or varying size and variety

next came a swarm, developed from wreckage found at the battle for X stolen by the pirates and modified to suit they're needs, no longer spheres but now small crab like creatures that have the amazing ability to replicate by eating any metal even that of a space ship, carried in spherical balls flying through space they have the ability to jump in and out of phases space and even travel through the void.

finally the biggest of all the fleet, often mistaken for an underwater city the great city ship Mokyo, approximately he same size as Manhattan island has multiple skyscrapers on top of its base, she is the oldest of the entire fleet, was found deep at the bottom of the ocean of planet pacific, as old as the alteran race itself, and fully battle modified with grand collapse cannons, improved shielding, OOF drones, OOF planet buster missiles,OOF orbit destroyers(produces a strong gravitational pulse near a sun causing all orbiting planets of that sun to leave orbit)

the huge force left the planet then disappeared they hadn't gone into hyperspace, they had cloaked visually and from all censors, even psychics couldn't detect them they then jumped to hyperspace undetected.

United Federation Colonies throneworld:

The massive battleship rose on its vertical axis and turned to face the invading fleet. A single ship opposed the lone defender, a mere 180 meters versus hundreds of meters full of weapons and armor. A massive salvo was launched at thr Impaler battleship which merely sidestepped the wave of incoming death, literally moving sideways as if it were a hummingbird on massive doses of crack. After a few more attacks it was easy to see the smaller ship was playing with its larger foe for they had yet to fire.

The small ship danced around its larger partner attempting to use its weapons salvos to strike several fellow defending ships until the gunnery crews adjusted to not fire in those directions. With a safe zone established where the Ta'Nar battleship would be least fired at the vessel stopped dancing. The gunnery crew were unsure if they could fire for fear of possibly hitting their own ships and tried to get permission to fire.

This was long enough to seal their fate.

The tiny battleship activated its main cannon. A beam of pute ionizing energy brighter than even the sun lashed out at the uncertain vessel followed by a surge in its engines. The tiny ship leapt forward ramming the massive battleship through the weakness created by the massive ion burst. Striking at an impressive speed, the sharp rams would easily impale the vessel and then break off as the attacker withdrew to watch what would happen next. The reporter would then hear screams of people dying be broadcast from the defender as areas of blackness spread from the wound in the side of the stricken vessel, almost like an Infection. Suddenly the broadcast was cut off mid word, replaced by static.

Watching the Holoscreen a figure dressed in the White and Gold of the Warlord sat. Nhur-Galladu was expressionless as his servants reported to him.

"Sire, we have let the transmission through as you have ordered. Nothing of significance was allowed to be seen but the footage will cause their morale to falter and prevent others who view it to hesitate coming to their aid."

"Lock the system down and have the Battlegroup finish operations. Move the Fist to their sun so we can get what we came for. Make sure there are no witnesses."

"Of course My Sire." The officer vanished as he left.

Warp ripped open depositing the strange pirate fleet in a system littered by black hulks of wreckage. They drifted in seemingly random patterns and there was no electromagnetic communications anywhere in the system. To all appearances it was a dead battlefield they arrived in.

"yo, im here with a huge pirate armada to ally with whomever made this mess"said hammerlock over all frequencies"also i have a possible target for your next conquest"

In T-Space the Fist floated there, a sheath of energy leaping back and forth between her shields and the inhospitable extra-dimensional space. If it was not for those very same shields the energy discharges would have obliterated the Fist as easily as they would a moon. The 7th dimension was not very forgiving of matter.

"Sire, what do you want to do with this new fleet?"

Nhur-Galladu thought for a few moments. "If this is any sort of trap it is not well thought out. Have Decoy 14 approach them and make contact, it is closest."

"Right away Sire."

Real Space:

Silence followed the message sent out by the pirates for what seemed like just this side of forever before they got their reply. The officer monitoring the dangerous drift of the nearby wreckage noticed it first.

The cloud of fragments surrounding the blasted battleship began to drift toward the wreck until they made contact and liquefied and was absorbed into the blackened metal. More pieces converged in this same way until the wreckage was once again whole. The black metal of the battleship seemed to grow and flow over the gaps in the hull until the whole vessel appeared pristine again. Sensors began to show increasing power levels as power was restored to different sections of the ship, all within seconds.

By the time the vessel spoke to them power levels were immense.

"This is Shipmind, what do you propose?"

"Interesting indeed." Shipmind paused for a second or two before continuing. "What do you get in return? We find it hard to believe you would risk your entire fleet out of the good of your hearts, what do you expect to gain?"

Shipmind, the sum composite of every Kython making up its current bulk was certainly psionic. It was composed of thousands of minds, all adding to the whole identified as Shipmind. Their individual psionic abilities were also contributed and Shipmind used these to passively scan the fleet in addition to its technological sensors.

Ri, Federation of Bavin

Captain Valler of the Herald of Victory was rudely awakened by an ensign sticking his head through the door.

"Sir! Multiple unidentified warp signatures inbound," the ensign said.

"Action Stations!," Valler ordered into his portable comm as he strode to the bridge while pulling up his pants. The crew was scurring about, as the electric gong rang throughout the Valhalla Class cruiser. He walked into the bridge, and was followed in by Vice-Admiral O'Shara. Valler sat in the command chair, while O'Shara stood.

"Report?" O'Shara asked.

"We've got a large number of inbound ships, looks like about twenty, sir," the sensors officer reported.

"Are they hostile?" Valler asked.

"No way to tell, sir," the SO replied. They stood there on the bridge for several minutes, watching the UFC fleet draw closer.

"Send a report to Fleet Command..." O'Shara ordered.
The Earth is a very small stage in a vast cosmic arena. Think of the rivers of blood spilled by all those generals and emperors so that, in glory and triumph, they could become the momentary masters of a fraction of a dot. Think of the endless cruelties visited by the inhabitants of one corner of this pixel on the scarcely distinguishable inhabitants of some other corner, how frequent their misunderstandings, how eager they are to kill one another, how fervent their hatreds.- Carl Sagan

The HMS Imperio and two Destroyer-class ships dropped out of hyperspace.

"Sire, there are a lot of ships in this area. Are you sure that you want to proceed?" asked the sensors officer.

"Of course I do," replied Lord Emperor Xeaphiel. "Broadcast a message:"

This is Lord Emperor Xeaphiel of Gaiaton. We have detected some fighting, and want to know if we can join in?

"Power shields and weapons" he ordered.

Zerus...

The Overmind spoke constantly, though not always to the same Swarmling. It was a rare occurrence for The Overmind to become silent. However this time the cause of The Overmind's silence was obvious, for all The Chaos Temples built by The Swarm had suddenly ceased all activity, and all The Zealots and Prophets lay dead.

Time passed, and somewhere far far away, a system had begun to be raided.

Then, The Overmind spoke once more, to all Swarmlings.

"Harken my Children and attend unto my words. Know that by the combined will of all four Gods of Chaos we are to set sail this day for The Balroggan warfleets and join in their battle, assisting them in any way we can, as only we can. The Will of The Gods is not to be argued with, no matter who might disagree.
Zerus is to be left with minimal defenses, while The Entire Extended Swarm enters The Gateway between The Spheres.

Minutes later, The Swarm was gone, having entered a layer of space many thought to not exist. They were on their way.

“You only wish to get what you deserve? Then we shall assist you.”

Shipmind caused the commandeered battleship to turn its bow away from the NERV ships.

“Please relay all the information you have. There are also two other allies who should show up very soon. When they arrive I would like you to choose a representative to meet with the Ta’Nar. Each nation will send one so we can work together in the most efficient manner. Our first objective will be the removal of your enemies.”

Shortly afterwards the Warp tore open and vomited the Swarm into the immediate area as predicted. Another nation showed up with their forces.

“This is Lord Emperor Xeaphiel of Gaiaton. We have detected some fighting, and want to know if we can join in?”

“I am sorry the battle is over, unless you wish to fight us. If not, send a representative over that can not only speak for yourselves but also able to issue commands to your forces. There is a great battle not far off and we need to coordinate together first.”

Shipmind waited a few seconds to see if they understood correctly before continuing.

“Please approach the black battleship near the large navy, this is our meeting place.”

"We're getting a reply," the comms officer told Xeaphiel.

“I am sorry the battle is over, unless you wish to fight us. If not, send a representative over that can not only speak for yourselves but also able to issue commands to your forces. There is a great battle not far off and we need to coordinate together first. Please approach the black battleship near the large navy, this is our meeting place.”

"Pilot the Imperio towards the meeting place," the Lord Emperor ordered the pilot.

The ship flew towards the black battleship, followed by it's guard of two destroyers.

"Teleport me onto their ship" Lord Emperor Xeaphiel said.
"Sire?" questioned the pilot.
"They want a representative who can speak for us and issue commands. That applies to me. Don't worry, I can take care of myself." He teleported onto the ship, into an empty room.

Left back on the Imperio, the officers looked at each other in anticipation. He could take care of more than himself.

Shipmind waited for the others to arrive and to send over someone to participate in the planning stage of the battle. So far the NERV has relayed the requested information over in a data burst but there was no sign of them sending a Planner over. The other force had sent someone and they were currently standing on the bridge of the ship looking around with a bewilder expression on its face due to there being no crew aboard the entire ship.

Shipmind caused a door to open leading off the bridge and began to dim the lights of the room as an indication Xeaphiel should use the exit. If he complied, a series of door openings later would find him in a comfortable conference room. Everything inside the ship was black, black walls, floor, ceiling, and the furniture and it all seemed to be made of the same metal. Even the “leather” seats were made of a fine mesh that felt like the real thing. A tabletop replicator unit had created several dishes and a wide array of drinks for the Planners.

As soon as the NERV and the Swarm arrived, things would begin.

2107 Hours Dentar Prime Standard
HIMS Throne of Dentara, Orbiting Planet Dentara
Dentara System

Within the darkened bridge of the Imperial Flagship, the Holy Emperor of Dentara and her Colonies, His Holy Majesty Emperor Aramius II, sat in the 'Throne' - a slightly more ornate version of a normal Command Chair - staring into the depths of space. Or, rather, at the streaming video of space - naturally, the bridge was well away from the peripheral edges of the hull, protected by metres upon metres of heavy armor and weaponry. Three hundred and sixty seven years young, thanks to the joys of Dentaran medicine, the man's troubled eyes examined the apparently tranquil sea of stars that was the cosmos.

He faced a conundrum. Everything about the state of the Galaxy, and the state of his Empire, said he should be content, or even pleased. Rebellion was all but unheard of. Piracy was slowly being crushed by the newly deployed 6th and 7th Flotillas, as they operated in the Thaniel-9 and Xanti-6 systems, the newest systems colonized by the Empire. Meanwhile, the Naas, Jarez, Loki and Rannos systems continued to exceed expectations, with efficient mining equipment churning out raw materials and clean industries refining them into components for use across the Empire. From all appearances, the Empire was flourishing with a glory it had little right to. And yet...

Focusing on the screen again, Aramius II could not help the slight shudder that ran down his neck. He'd already heard the ever-conflicting theories - that it was simply apprehension or stress, or, on the flip-side, that the genetic enhancements worked into his DNA had unlocked latent powers of the psyche. He didn't know, and until they had a concrete conclusion, he didn't care. All he knew was, something was coming. How he knew, why he knew, was unknown to him, and justifying his belief would be impossible. Still, he knew it.

Abruptly, he stood gracefully - a feat in and of itself for a man measuring two metres and twenty seven centimetres, again, thanks to genetic enhancements and the so-called 'Warfighter Passive Augments' - and strode up to the communications station. Keying in a private frequency, he spoke six words, before cancelling the connection and walking from the room toward his chambers; "Bring the Guard to full alert."

A pink and blue Sphere appeared out of nowhere, multiplying many times over and swelling into a single massive gas cloud larger than most nebula. Within it lurked the sigils and seals of Chaos. Seconds later, the cloud disappeared, leaving behind The Entire Extended Swarm.

"Irene, I have received guidance. Go to the ship I will show you, and speak for The Swarm." The Overmind said.

Irene nodded, and exited the ship, flying over on her own wings. She flew up to a set of external doors where a ship could dock, and took the time and trouble to knock politely at the door, before someone inside simply teleported her into the conference room.

"send me to the conference room"
"alright boss, teleporting now"
the admiral of the pirate fleet appeared inside the conference room

"okay, if we attack NERV directly we wont get far, so we attack the civilian junction points, canary junction would be the first, the next would be Daedalus, hackney, Camden and serenity, once these are taken out we can start to decimate the populated planets one by one, the NERV navy would be alerted immediately but thanks to my pirates having a foothold on there EWS computers we can do as much damage as we want before getting detected"
he said as information streamed into the different consciousnesses through a psychic link from a small black box in his pocket

As the last person arrived for the meeting, a form rose out of the floor, literally. The black metal bulged upwards and features developed. First indentations for the face, then a torso with arms until finally legs formed. A being stood before the three seemingly made out of the same metal as the rest of the ship. When it spoke, the words just found themselves into the minds of the others.

“I am Overmind. No, not the one we are fighting to save but an older one created by the Ta’Nar long ago. I am the Avatar of all Kythons, the sum consciousness of each and every one of them in existence. I will be your Host for I have the ability to command my children directly so we can efficiently impose our will upon our targets.

Overmind gestured for the NERV officer (you have not named him or introduced yourself yet) to begin his briefing. After it was over Overmind turned to speak to the others.

“What do you think of this plan? We want to get on with our fun.”

"I can erect The Shadow in The Warp, cutting off all forms of communication and FTL travel. This is why no one has known where we were attacking until we attacked and left, and why no one has ever gotten reinforcements to our targets."

OOC: Xeaphiels now in the conference room listening to the other's plans. I didn't write him getting there as going through a few doors wouldn't be too exciting.

Overmind looked around the room before speaking.

“Yes, that will be useful but occasionally we need to let one think they escaped to bring word of the terror to the others so they will flee in fear when we show up. It seems this strike may not be the case though. Does anyone else have anything to add? Do we all agree on the strike or does someone object?”

"Yes, I have one thing to add. If you want certain targets to think they escaped, we can designate targets and not have The Shadow in The Warp affect them. They might be a bit more difficult to fight, but all the same, it can be done."
