Military shops?

Postby Skylar Ferguson » Fri Jul 10, 2009 12:44 pm

Hey I haven't been on in a while and im wondering if you still manage your own military by buying equipment from military shops. I understand the military budget is your GDPpercapita X taxrate X population......right?

You can buy from storefronts in the forum below this, Global Trade. Don't buy from Anghele, though -- that's just advice.

As for budget, that calculation would mean your entire budget is put into military, which means chances are your nation is a horrible piece of crap no one wants to live in, unless your tax rate is extremely small (2%, maybe) and everything is privatized. The military budget will be a reasonable percentage of the calculation you gave.

I agree. I think it's best to grow with national relations than preparing for a war that will happen because you've spent your budget on equipment that MAY of needed.

Actually that is not necessarily true. The private market can handle stuff like education and health care well enough that if the military is merged with the police than a minarchist nation could put the whole budget into their military. Of course, I recommend going to NSEconomy and putting in your nation. It will give you a reliable military budget. NSTracker isn't very good, IMO.

That's why I said your tax rate would have to be small and everything would have to be privatized. For all the education, healthcare, transportation, etc. stuff to be handled privately, you'd have to leave the private sector with as much money as possible, i.e., having really low taxes.

I have a tax rate of 100%, yet I'm listed as either a Corporate Bordello or Capitalist Paradise.

NS does some retarded things sometimes, yes.

It's a satirical game, so you can probably blame that.

100% tax rate, and Civil Rights are good lol. 100% would be closer to Communism than Socialism I spose lol, but meh. Good thing the Arms Industry is my biggest money provider. Makes sense to, wih Anghele buying from Universal Defence so much.

Anyways, buying from another person is done for fun normaly. Also if you really like a design of theirs, then you buy a crapload of that weapon so that you have enough to equip the entire army. Or design your own weapons if your into that.

What's so special about Anghele?

I mean, it could use some improvement, still a lot of RL equipment there and a few prices are off. But it still beats noob and most newb storefronts by a lot, and maintains a solid degree of realism, especially concerning firearms. Not high end, but a solid overall storefront. Now, Phoenix Milita, DMG, various noobs - these I would indeed be wary not to touch.

There is a line most people say they will never cross. It is usually something they have done long ago when they thought no one was watching.

But short design writeups, stats often highly unrealistic, and the prices tend to be way off in either direction.

If you really want the best stuff, look for individual design threads with long description posts. Post length is no guarantee of quality, but it's a start.
I'd particularly look out for stuff by - here goes... Sumer, Third Spanish States, Questers, Crookfur, Lyras, Jeuna. I have a few designs too. There are a few other good designers, but I haven't seen their storefronts here yet.

Aim for quality, not quantity (as in number of designs). You can always use a RL design if you lack something for a particular role.
