At 11:27 EST (Ethyrican Standard Time), a nuclear explosion completely engulfed the island of Bonibana in the Ursivana Archipelago off the coast of Ethyrica. Even now, a large mushroom cloud can be seen rising from the presumed epicenter of the blast, the Bonibana Air Base. The devastating effects of this explosion are now visible across almost the entire nation as people all over Ethyrica gaze in utter shock at the towering cloud. The government has not even begun to estimate how many could have perished in the blast, nor can it until an investigation of the materials used begins. If current estimates are correct that the blast originated from the air base or the nearby Bonibana City, at least 9,000 could have perished, only from the initial explosion. Thousands more could become sick should winds blow the fallout radiation across the whole island chain. But the most cryptic question remaining is who is resposible. The Ministry of Defense has released this official statement:
"Although we are not sure of the specifics of this disaster, such as the type of weapon or how it was deployed, the people of Ethyrica can be sure of one thing-that the government and the military shall do everything in their power to determine the cause of this terrible catastrophe and take appropriate action. That being said, those responsible for this carnage and loss of life can also be sure of one thing-that retribution will be swift and will be be undertaken without the slightest hint of mercy. And that the fury and rage of this nation burns hotter than the flames of the weapon that you have deployed."
The government has also sent out a distress call to all other nations, desperately asking for some form of assistance.
