Agent Felices sat in the security center of the Xeliz headquarters on Xilitia. She casually glanced at the monitors from time to time while she reviewed information on a handheld datacorder. The High Lord was scheduled for his annual visit and subsequent update on all that was going on with their operations. The trip had almost been cancelled when the security leak had occured, but since it had been silenced so quickly it was unlikely the sensitive material had made it anywhere. Besides, with what was coming, it was imperative that this meeting happen.
A buzzing interrupted her preparations. She looked up to see the supply ship had made it. She entered the appropriate security codes and the main doors on the surface opened, allowing the ship to land. No contact with the pilot was to be made. The cargo bay would open, and the Hunters would unload and distribute the supplies. Then the ship would leave, allowing for one last security sweep before the High Lord and his bodyguards arrived.
She glanced for good measure at the prison level. All was quiet, no surprise there. The prisoners hung suspended in the glowing green liquid in their containers, unconcious and unable to move. She finally looked through the rest of the base. Hunters patrolled in their chitonous black armor, in squads of five. 20 more Hunters waited for the cargo ship to complete its landing, so as to unload it.
She saw that Agent Zamoran was practicing in his room, slicing through the air with his cortosis sword in an elegant lethal dance. She also saw, to her mild disgust, that Agent Gelaj was also in his room, but viewing some comedy feature on the GalactaNet. Her disgust with Gelaj was only superficial. she knew that beneath his cocky exterior and boyish looks was a deadly killer with no qualms about completing his mission in whatever way he needed to.
It was then her reverie was interuppted. The screens on the lowest two levels flickered and went out. Felices cursed silently. Xilitia was home to some very interesting and dangerous creatures, but despite their best efforts, the fauna would adapt and get past their defenses. The unfortunate animal to have done so was probably fried or poisoned. She checked in with the Hunters, but they reported no power failures. It was likely nothing else had happened, and the base would regenerate itself.
What she didnt know was that the power-loss the cameras had also caused a power surge that disrupted the alarms in the prison level and caused a few of the prison tanks to burst, causing the prisoners to regain conciousness.
