Her Majesty’s Ship Longyearbyen, an aging but well maintained and functional Whippet-class light cruiser, cut through the blackness of space, on approach to the now desolate territory of a deceased state. IFS Navy outposts had been receiving hysterical transmissions recently from a largely unknown nation some distance from Imperial Federated Systems territory about an invasion of some kind. While far, the nation was not so far as to make a possible new threat of no real concern to leaders in the IFSR. As such, offers of communication and help were made…and apparently ignored. Before too long the Empire had begun to suspect the worst, and had now dispatched Longyearbyen to investigate. Properly, the old ship was really one of a squadron sent to investigate, but she was the squadron commander’s forward reconnaissance scout. Commanded by an experienced officer, Captain Hazel Devine, she progressed slowly in-system, probing with her sensors to find likely risks and threats…and finding nothing, hailing in the open to the local authorities…and hearing no response. This was most unusual, and so the ship began a pronounced zigzag approach pattern, sweeping widely one way and the other, to broaden her close-range sensory findings and make a more difficult target. She also sent a Condition Orange (All is clear…but be careful anyway) signal to the squadron CO, still some days out behind.

OOC:

I'm quite rushed at the moment, or else I would post more.

If you RP with me, you are choosing to acknowledge The Shift by default. No negotiations.

Facts and Figures of Life

The facts, although interesting, are irrelevant.

The careful application of terror is also a form of communication.

Someone who thinks logically is a nice contrast to the world.

Things are more like they are today than they ever were before.

Anything worth fighting for is worth fighting dirty for.

Friends may come and go but enemies accumulate.

I have seen the truth and it makes no sense.

If you think there is good in everybody, you haven’t met everybody.

RIP Tanaara: 1/17/10.
