Bringing the Fight back to Them (MT Semi-Open, ATTN: TGE)

(OOC: Semi-Open, don't join in unless you have 100% sure reason to join and in any case don't dogpile, make sure your entry is only in balance to the machinations of the opposing faction)

A cold wind blew through the muddy island Malvarmo. Since the Crusade against the Glorian supporters this island had undergone devastating civil wars from which it had never recovered, the population lived in destitution, fear and disease, a reminder of the price paid for those under the Imperial banner.

A convoy of three black sedans rolled through the eerie landscape, they finally came upon a grey concrete installation, the glorious scarlet of the Saartian flag puncturing the near black of the storm clouds overhead. The cars rolled into a large hanger area protected by a thick and rusted steel screen which screeched as it began to close, swallowing up the convoy.

Avoiding the cacophony of noise the passengers quickly made their way deeper into the bunker. The walls were dusty and rotten from lack of maintenance, the base had only been re-opened three months ago and that was barely enough time given to install the new War Room computer technology and to synchronise the movements of so many Divisions. The passengers finally made it to the large hall bustling with technical staff and National Guardsmen, they sat at a large table built especially for this occasion, hopefully never to be used again.

"It has been ten years." A lean figure of a man stood at his seat ready to compile the history of this operation for the benefit of those unclear on all the details. "The state of Abascalnia fell to the Glorians ten years ago and we did nothing!" He sounded quite bitter at the lack of activity shown in the past. His outrage disturbed some of the junior members. "We have allowed this rot to fester and build, the Claw Island is all but lost to us should we fail here." A large holographic representation of the Claw Islands appeared on the screen behind the gentleman. "As Commander in Chief I have green lit Operation Barrett after ten years of operational planning. So run me through it gentlemen, what is our avenue of success?"

"Well sir." A General began, his stars reflecting the green and blue lights dotted about the room. "Our biggest threat remains the Glorians Conventional Warhead ICBM program. We believe that our initial strike will remove maybe one third of the Glorian capacity but in consideration of its previous attacks we may face the other two thirds reigning terror upon our civilian population."

"Understood General." There was a pause. "And what is your recommended path of action?"

"It's undeniable that in any case the Glorians will use their Missile capacity to terrorise our mainland, with our without the Abascalanian Silo's. Frankly I think we would all rather face two thirds than both barrels." There were the sounds of agreement around the table.

"Excellent. What of our forces station here in Malvarmo?"

"Intel reports..." Another General began, a dossier in his hands. "...That the Glorians have not shifted the bulk of their naval force since the Abasc war, the West Coast is open to our attacks immediately, our plan is to gain a forward position on the Islands of Buchannon and Guttenburg. From this position we will be able to launch attacks on either the Glorian Mainland or the Abasc peninsula, really it depends on our wish to remove their naval forces or their Missile capacity."

"Missile capacity, definitely." The original General interrupted.

"Agreed. Have your forces ready to move onto the Mainland as soon as the Islands have been subdued." The Commander reported, prompted by the interruption. "Finally, what are our concerns over the Naval Front?"

"As has already been reported, the Glorian Navy is deployed mostly within the Claw Bay, as it has been for the past ten years. My suggestions is that we take Endako within the first strike, control over the terrain nearby will put us in the position to block the Glorian Navy from accessing its Western assets. Beyond that our concerns are with the Glorian Western Fleet, a small Fleet that shall drown on our Brown Water Fleets should it stray too near."

"Good, excellent, though I would feel safer having that fleet removed before it does any damage to our forces. Gentlemen, this is our only opportunity to have an open threat removed, failure will mean our destruction. I want you all to think about what that means." He paused to let that sink in. "Good. To your stations gentlemen!"

Buchannon and Guttenburg Islands

The Saartian bombing campaign launched from Malvarmo islands, several Air Wings began their operation with information gleaned from years of observation and intelligence. The bombers remained high over the clouds between the shortest stretch of the Abaskellix Channel before dipping suddenly at their targets, releasing their payload upon SAM sites, Airbases and threats to the Saartian invasion plan.

The second wave of naval forces carrying the Saartian ground efforts arrived shortly thereafter, the amphibious assault vessels dispatching teams to secure the islands before counter attack. Infantry and AFV forces landed first to seize beach-heads for the second landing of Armour, Commandoes and other forces linchpin for the invasion of the Greater Empire.

Endako

Cashing in on the surprise of the invasion came the swift movements of the Endako plan. Anti-Shipping Submarines swept into the Endako Harbour with their escort, releasing their payload on the Glorian Fleet waiting in harbour. Behind this movement sat the Saartian reserve Flotilla, Submarine Warfare vessels and Aircraft Carriers ensuring Saartian dominance over this theatre.

All the while Conventional Warheads from Saartian Silo’s came thundering down upon the Abascalanian occupied territories. The former alliance between Abascalnia and Saartie having already flagged the positions of IRBM’s prior to the Glorians expansion into the lands, the assault wouldn’t remove all the Glorians Silo’s but it would knock them surely off their arses.

Barony, 1 hour after first contact
"WHAT DO YOU MEAN THEY JUST SNUCK UP ON US!?" screamed the Emperor "HOW DID THREE INVASION FLEETS MANAGE TO GET PAST OUR DEFENSES!?" he bellowed again.

"Our Defenses along the Abascalanian coast where never fully developed; priority was placed on exploiting the territory and pacifying the natives.” replied an aid whose name the Emperor never cared to learn.

My family’s holdings have not been the victim of foreign aggression since the great trek to the Claw Isle centuries ago. We have generations to exploit the resources of Abascalania! The natives never posed a threat!” the Emperor yelled. He looked toward the captain of his personal guard “Invite Governor Petrus to stay within the Barony, remind him that the invitation is not optional and grant him accommodations appropriate for one whose standing has… rapidly declined.

The Captain motioned to two soldiers, both of whom quickly left the command center. “Where did they land?” said the Emperor in a calm tone.

"Guttenburg, Buchannon, but they also attacked the 12th fleet around Endako" said Piter de Vries, the Emperor’s closest confidant and advisor. de Vries pointed to several spots on the Map "The garrisons of Guttenburng and Buchannon are of a moderate size; they will be unable to fully repel the invasion." Grand Prince Gunseng Harkonnen interjected “If the Islands fall, the Saartians will be able to land on the mainland and cut off our forces in the south; We must send reinforcements.

The Emperor turned his gaze from the display toward his nephew "Other than stating the obvious, do you have anything meaningful to contribute?"

Gunseng studied the display for a moment before replying "mobilize the navy". There was a brief pause before he continued "We must prevent the Saartians from resupplying their invasion forces on the islands”. “They navy is spoken for, we must defend the entrance to the Sea of Ravens, otherwise the Saartians will sail directly into Barony” said Admiral Jan Harkonnen. Gunseng chucked “ah, so we should let them walk here cousin? You’re right, that is so much more considerate. We wouldn’t want them to have to attempt an amphibious invasion in a sea we completely control and the coasts of which we’ve spent centuries fortifying!

The remainder of the Harkonnen high commend anxiously awaited the Emperor’s reaction; a non-Harkonnen voicing a contrary opinion often resulted in an incredibly painful “visit to the Barony.”

Deploy the navy to Abascalania” said the Emperor quietly. Without hesitation, the officers and admirals began carrying out the Emperor’s order.

Gunseng zoomed the display in on Endako. "The Saartians will send their full invasion force through the south. That is why their first target was the 12th fleet” he said to the Emperor “we need to strength then garrisons of Diatt, Endako and place more troops across the central defensive line."

"and ignore the barrier islands?" said Feyd Harkonnen, commander in chief of the Harkonnen Army. "While I agree that the south will be the focus of the Saartian’s attack, we cannot let the islands fall. They will be too useful a staging ground for raids into Giedi"

Deploy whatever forces are necessary Feyd” said the Emperor. Feyd bowed quickly and began issuing orders to his subordinates. The various military branches began coordinating troop deployments and movements while the Emperor prepared to retire to his quarters.

My lord” interrupted de Vries “before you retire, you should be aware that the Saartians have launched IRBMs toward all of the former Abascalanian missile silos. They believe they’ve destroyed a substantial portion of our own IRBMs.” De Vries smirked “In reality, they only managed to destroy a handful of recycled Abascalanian warheads… I suggest that we remind them that there are consequences for defying the Glorious Empire.”

Rain fire down on Saartie” said the Emperor with a horrifying smile as he once again turned toward his quaters. “Uncle!” said Gunseng “May I suggest a new target?” Emperor Vladimir looked toward Gunseng “Speak boy” he said curtly. “We should level Malvaro” said Gunseng “the Saartians are launching their invasion from Malvaroan ports”. “You would leave the Saartian’s unbloodied?” said de Vries “Every Saartian soldier must know that their families are not safe in their homes! They must know that we spare no one!” he continued. “They will know” said Gunseng “They will see the devastation we unleash on that pitiful island and know that their time will come. Destroying Malvaro also happens to deny the Saartians facilities to attack us from.

The Emperor paused for a moment before uttering “Set that pitiful island ablaze” before turning away from his subordinates and entering his quarters.

Later that day, Imperial Rally Grounds, Barony
Emperor Vladimir Harkonnen XIV stood at a podium, massive red banners bearing the symbol of his house, the intimidating Harkonnen Ram, stood proudly behind him. After pausing for a moment, he began to speak

"Hear me Harkonnen! This much I vow. The history of these days will be written in blood. By crushing the armies of our enemy, by seizing the weapons they thought to turn against us, we were fighting for our very existence from the Floydians who so long ago drove us from our home. We have existed peacefully with these vermin for the majority of my reign, however if there are those in Saartie who would deny us peace; refuse us our rightful place in the world, then we will unleash such terrible vengeance that generations yet unborn will cry out in anguish!

Saartie, the last surviving Floydian power has invaded our beloved land! They come just as the Palixians did centuries ago, intent upon uprooting us and driving us out of this land. THEY SHALL NOT! We will not be forced to submission and surrender! We are a strong people, and we shall not be oppressed by the Floydians any longer! LET THEM COME! LET THE FEEL OUR MIGHT!" he paused as there was a massive cheer from the crowds below.
"The enemy may shatter our bodies, but they cannot break our spirit. Even now they advance on our home, to seize by force what they cannot claim by right. They cannot imagine what awaits them. WE WILL SMITE THE INVADERS FROM OUR SKIES, OUR SHORES AND OUR LANDS! Though they sweep over our lands like the sands of winter; never again will we bow before them; never again endure their oppression; never again endure their tyranny. We will strike without warning and without mercy; fighting as one hand, one heart, one soul. We will shatter their dreams and haunt their nightmares, drenching our ancestors' graves with their blood. As our last breath tears at their lungs; as we rise again from the ruins of our cities... they will know, THIS LAND BELONGS TO HOUSE HARKONNEN!"

The crowd erupted into chants of “Failure is Death!”, The Floydians had come once again, this time they will not be defeated. This time, the Floydians will be ripped from their homes. This time, the Floydians will know true suffering.

The 1st Northern Front, under the command of General Rabban Harkonnen, has launched a small counter attack on the Saartian beach heads on Buchannon and Guttenburg. General Rabban, nicknamed “the beast” had a simple strategy, make the Saartians bleed for every inch of Harkonnen land taken. The Imperial Harkonnen Airforce prioritized attacks on shipping and captured ports, while Harkonnen suicide squads were ordered to delay the enemy for as long as possible. On the mainland, a large Harkonnen force began constructing beach defenses and prepared to be transported to the islands.

In southern Abascalania, General Feyd established his command in Diatt. The considerably larger Harkonnen forces in the area began consolidating to repel any potential Saartian incursions. Harkonnen forces began preparing to reinforce Endako, as the local garrison had suffered substantial casualties in the initial attack by Saartian naval forces. Fearing that the city may fall, Harkonnen forces have begun forcibly evacuating the useful civilian population and executing the rest. While currently the Saartians are contained to the port areas, the Harkonnen will leave nothing of use in the city should it fall.

Two attack submarines, IHS Dominator, and IHS Eradicator, which comprised the only surviving portion of the 12th fleet made their way north to the Barrier Islands, having escaped the battle during the destruction of the Caedus-class Carrier, IHS Conquest. The Submarines where given orders to harass any Saartian shipping they come across and help supply Harkonnen troops on the barrier islands.

Across occupied Absacalania, Harkonnen forces began ruthlessly crushing any real or perceived dissent by the Abascalanians. Entire villages seen as potentially sympathetic to the Saartian invader were brutally cleansed. In Diatt, the streets are lined with gallows, filled with a hung “traitors.” Harkonnen forces also began to preemptively “scorch the earth” in regions High Command believed will be targets for Saartian attacks. The Harkonnen are waging war not only against the Saartians, but also the Abascalanian civilian population.

Across the remainder of the Harkonnen dominions, Harkonnen forces began mobilization. Nearly all of the Harkonnen reserves had been called to active duty, along with an unknown number of private and paramilitary forces. The Harkonnen have also used their vast wealth to hire untold numbers of mercenaries to supplement Harkonnen forces. Outside observers estimate that approximately 10 million soldiers are in the process of being deployed in southern Abscalania, while another 5 million have been deployed toward the barrier Islands.

The entire Harkonnen Navy has been called to active duty; several carrier battle groups have been deployed to defend southern Abascalania, with one additional carrier group began sailing towards the barrier islands.

After a series of, in the eyes of the Harkonnen, sloppy IRBM strikes on older Abscalanian missile silos, Harkonnen IRBMs indiscriminately rained down on the tiny island nation of Malvaro. True to their malevolent, hateful, and brutal nature, the Harkonnen have deliberately attacked civilian targets, hoping to demoralize the Malvoroans and Saartians via terror bombings. Hospitals and power plants have been destroyed, as well as ports and Saartian military installations.

The general population of the Glorious Empire often had little love for their Harkonnen masters, however the invasion by a Floydian power rallied them behind their brutal overlords. Millions of men flocked to conscription stations to be shipped off to training; for the first time in decades, they did so voluntarily.

The armies of House Harkonnen would not only be driven forward by a fear of the whips behind them, but a hatred of the enemy in front of them. Centuries of oppression and rage is soon to be unleashed on the Saartians.

Bucchanon and Gutenburg Beach-heads

The fight for the skies of Glorica had began, the combined force of bombers attacking the Saartian beach-heads and fighters engaging Saartian patrols. The Air Force mobilised to combat both lines of assault, priority engagement over the Glorian Fighters attempting to secure Air Superiority, the Bessant FWV04 dancing with the equally skilled Glorian fighters, blocking the sun with the number of airborne vessels swarming the meager Glorian attack.

Forces on the ground were struggling with the enemy forces puncturing the Saartian shield, Air Strikes had forces held back from their objectives across the islands. The valiant efforts of those not pinned down had the Saartian beach-heads reinforced with Armour and punching forwards with the invasion, creeping ever closer to the total domination over the Glorian frontier islands.

Malvarmo

A light haze had settled upon the cold island, the flush grey walls of the concrete capitol Styx resident to the misery of the Malvarmo, reminder of their deceit. The Saartian flag asserting control over the machinations of the downtrodden dominance over the civilian airfield occupied by the Saartian Air Force for the duration of this operation.

Through the fog and glassy rain tore a fireball witnessed by few astute, rivalling the sun it tore into the ground impacting upon the ashen ground of the airfield and spreading a fireball across the open area. The misery of the Malvarmo grew wiith the only hope of exit falling under a curtain of flame, tearing men and children asunder into splintered marionettes.

A cloud of dust spread across Malvarmo as the situation repeated itself, harbours, airfields and bunkers occupied by Saartians and Malvo' both falling to the terrifying Glorian counter attack, obviously the hasty plans to remove the Glorians IRBM capabilities had backfired.

Endako

Despite the misery of the attack in its current stage, the emotions at Endako were elated. A swift victory against the Endako naval garrison had boosted morale. Decisions needed to be made, assaulting Endako would not be as swift as defeating the naval forces, without the open space of Buchannon and Gutenburg an immediate landing would not be possible. The presence of Abascalanian survivors would leave a general bombardment out of the question. The deployed fleet remained blockading the city of Endako and taking up its positions about the coast of the enemy city.

3rd Glorious Army Command Center, Northern Front
General Lente hovered over a large map, His forces have been fighting with near fanatical devotion, however they had only been able to slow the Saaritan advance.

"There are simply to many of them sir" said a Colonel "our air forces are out numbered and the Saartians are slowly gaining air superiority"

Lente didnt move, he was planning something "When are our reinforcements?" he said calmly

"The full force will be arriving in one week sir, 5 million men total" said the Colonel

Lente said nothing, still looking over the Map have "our forces continue the attack" he said " Start arming any Glorian Settlers on the islands, they are to be tasked with defending their homes, as well as Guerrilla duties" there was another pause

The Colonel spoke again "what of the Absacalanians? there are few left, and they are for the most part in slave camps under our control, however should the Saaritans find them.."

"Massacre all of the Camps, and any Abascalanian Village that has not currently been occupied or enslaved, and ensure that-"

"My men can handle that task" said a mysterious man in the corner of the command tent

"who the hell are you??" Lente said as he aimed a pistol at him

"Nero Stonewood" he said "I have been sent here by the Dark Lord himself to assist you, i have a small force of Elite Black under my command, and well Mogial Massacre has always been a hobby of mine"

Lente lowered his weapon, "I've heard about you" he said "Very well, your men can conduct the massacres, i cannot spare the men to conduct the massacres, so you will be the ones to do it"

Stonewood's eyes glittered "Excellent" he then turned and left the tent. As several men walked into the room "My Name is Commander Stylus and this is Commander Kakarov, We command the 12 and 56th Airborne units we just arrived from the mainland"

"Ah excellent" said Lenete "Get your men to the front, immediately! you will receive orders once there" the two men saluted and left, Lente smiled, with these reinforcements he would be able to hold out long enough for the main force to arrive, then drive them out once and for all!

The Front
A small force braced itself for the impeding Saartian attack on the small village they had occupied. The residents where Abascalanians, killed as soon as the Glorious Garrision arrived. Glorious troops hid inside of buildings and along sandbags placed across the street StA-32 machine guns could be seen creeping out of windows along with VnS-10 Scyllas mounted on the windows of some of he larger buildings. Glorious Propaganda could be heard playing throught the city "NO ONE CAN TAKE OUR BIRTHRIGHT...GLORICAN FOR THE GLORIOUS....THEY MAY BREAK OUT BODIES BUT THEY WILL NEVER BREAK OUR WILLS... CRUSH THE CRUSADER" could be heard blasting across the city, giving the Glorious troops a reminder that if they lose this war, they lose everything, they are in-fact now fighting for their very existence"

A small Saaritan force approached, the propaganda was shut off, not wanting to give their position away. The Saartians into the Village, and the Glorious attacked. The Glorious in the buildings began firing on the Saartians in the streets killing several infantrymen. But the Saartians had brought APCs and tanks, something the Garrison of the Island had very little of. Propaganda blared once again, screaming across the small village. Glorious began attacking APC's with VC-9 Rocket Launchers destroying several. The Glorious Fell back to the Center of the Village, holding up along previously prepared positions. BLR-06 Hydra Launchers where fired at the tanks destroying and damaging a few, however it seemed not to be enough, they would need to retreat, every man they lost was one that could not be replaced for some time.

However just as the Glorious Commander was going to issue the retreat, Reinforcements arrived from the airborne divisions. The Commander smirked "WE CAN TAKE THEM NOW BOYS! ALL UNITS ATTACK!" he screamed as the Glorious began to retake the village with the help of their reinforcements. Small battles like this one erupted across the island, some where victories for the Glorious Defenders, while others for the Saartian invaders

Meanwhile Black Serpents conducted the massacre of the Abascalanian population with a sadistic glee. Villages where found brutally murdered, their bodies strung up in humiliating positions while the Dark Mark lingered above the village thanks to a Large Flood light in the center of the Village

Endako
Glorious Forces still began fortifying the areas around the city, launching land based anti-ship missiles at any Saaritan vessel that got to close. Glorian Airpower was dedicated to ensuring control of the skies and attacking any Saaritan ship that dared to get to close to the city.
