Mirage's instincts told her to strike the moment the man appeared through the walls, but she restrained herself when the others entered the room, knowing it would probably just get herself and Tanya killed if she started a fight now. So she would try to talk her wait out of this situation, and hope that back up arrived before Rem's friends fled with him and possibly took her and Tanya out on their way. They'd probably already killed the guards, she realized. To her horror, Mirage realized she was beginning to feel genuine panic. How much more of this constant struggle could she be expected to take? Quickly she told herself to get a damn grip. She was a Council member and senior field agent. She could only imagine what it was like for Tanya, who was presumably still new to this sort of situation. Making her voice as calm and cold as she could, she addressed Rem, while keeping an eye on the others in case they decided to attack. Not that she thought she could win, but she wasn't going to go down easily, not if it was her against every damn Super-terrorist on Earth.

"Rem, if you think your friends are going to break you out of here, you're greatly mistaken. I have no doubt that the four of you can kill us both in a fight if it comes to that, but not without making a lot of noise and not without drawing a lot of attention. You think the militia won't shoot to kill when they realize what's happened? And when The White Shield finds out what happened, their won't be a place on Earth you can hide.

Now, if your friends are willing to put down their weapons, I give you my word I won't try to threaten, detain, or harm them in any manner at this time, and perhaps we can discuss the issue of Nighthawk like civilized beings."

(OOC: Mirage has assumed they're here to bust Rem out, obviously, but won't fight at the moment. As for the holographic image sent to Tanya by her ruler, I'm assuming that Mirage did not see it unless Antemyst wishes otherwise. I think it'll be more interesting if their are things going on Mirage and The White Shield don't know about. :) )

"What do you mean?" Titan asked his old commander, quite surprised by this turn of events.

"The Emperor has decided to absolve you of past crimes if you join us again, though I can't actually tell you our mission until you agree, since you are technically a civilian at the moment," Maximus said. After letting Titan think for a moment longer he continued, "And you can't deny that working for the Empire was much better than peddling your skills to the highest bidder, always on the run."

He was right, Titan couldn't deny that it was so, even with the higher pay from his mercenary work he couldn't put the money to good use, he was always hunted, by police, by military, or by the Empire. "Maybe, but why would he accept me back and, more importantly, what do I have to do?"

"He is very forgiving, as long as one seeks his forgiveness," when Maximus said this he sounded like a preacher, but as he next spoke a smile appeared on his face, "And you only have to rejoin your old buddies, not too much to ask, eh?"

Titan thought about it, not that there was much to think about since he had two choices, join them or die. He decided that he'd rather live, "I'm in, Primus."

"Good to have you back, Titan," Maximus said, and then turned to the one person in the squad Titan did not recognize, a man who seemed to be made out of rock, "Silex, you are dismissed, head back to base for reassignment." Silex did not speak, he just left, apparently he wasn't pleased about this, but he didn't dare speak up against his commander.

"So what is our mission?"

"The usual, kill some terrorists. But first there is the matter of this Reaper person who threatened the world, we have to find the person he wants the White Shield to release, and make sure they don't."

Titan smiled slightly, "I know where he is, a hospital here in the city. I can lead us there."

"Well, that is just excellent. Lead on," Maximus said, gesturing with his hands to show that he and the others would follow, "Oh, and this operation is Haud Termino, just thought you should know."

Haud Termino was a code used by the Imperial Army to signify that there were no restriction as to what they were permitted to do to achieve their goal, and it was one of Titan's favorite phrases. He started running towards the hospital where Rem was, the rest of the team following close behind, and it didn't take them very long to get there at the speed they were moving at.

As soon as they reached their destination Maximus started giving orders, "Sharpshooter, take up a position on that roof, Wraith, stand by to do a hit and run, Psyker, you're with me, Titan, you head inside and make sure the target is still there, Shadow, go with Titan, stay hidden, I'll set up a containment field."

They all did as they were told, and as Titan entered the hospital a translucent red forcefield appeared around it, sealing everyone inside with him. He immediately headed towards the room where Rem was, quite sure that his invisible comrade was following close behind.

OOC @Romulan: That's cool with me.

Tanya stood up, ready to fight if necessary. Remembering that mind-invasion was frowned upon here, she hadn't read any of the new party's minds, so she had no idea what to think. Hopefully, they were here just to talk about Nighthawk. If not, well, she'd had good luck with fighting rogue Supers so far.

ooc:let me know if you think this is either unfair or not possible.

The security guard woke up on the roof of the hospital and looked around. There was a helicopter sitting near him and someone was standing next to it looking around. He tried to remember how he had gotten here. He was standing there talking to somebody about something he could not rember then the next thing he realizes is that he is was sitting on the roof... with a massive headache. And then everything hit him at once: he was asking for some clearance when another person had knocked him out. Not wishing to be noticied by the person standing guard of the helicopter he crawled toward a service hatch then climbed down and walked out into the main hospital area. Fearing the worst he took the elevator down to the third floor. One look and his worst fears had been confirmed, all of the guards outside of room 302 were down. The security guard ran to a nearby phone and dialed some numbers. When he reached who he was looking for he stated "Sir we have a situation, somebody has arrived at the hospital and taken out all the guards and entered room 302. No sir they have not left"

*************************************************************
"Good" said the man with the golden ring over the phone "Just stay out of their way and don't do anything to provoke them. Where sending backup with instructions in a moment." With that he hung up the phone and stood up picked up a briefcase and left his office. A few hours and security checks later he was sitting in the congressmens office right on schedule.

*************************************************************

A black car pulled up opposite of the hospital and two men got out and went into the adjacent building and got into the elevator. "Pretty tricky job we got coming up." one of them said. "Got to shoot a tracker onto a helicopter but here's the kicker: we got to hit it from across the street and while it's taking off so nobody notices." he continued. Both got out of the elevator at the top floor and then proceeded to the roof where they set up and began watching the helicopter.

"Hello, sir." Congressman Roberts held out his hand and smiled. "Please, take a seat. Would you like anything to drink? I have water and coffee. Or I can send for some wine if you wish." He waited for the Seacrest representative to make himself comfortable, then asked:

"Now, what can I do for you, Mr...?"

"Two men just arrived in a car, they're on a roof overlooking the hospital. Possible hostiles," Sharpshooter reported to the rest of the team.

"Be ready to take them down should it be necessary, but do not fire unless I order it," Primus responded, it wasn't as if they could get through the forcefield surrounding the hospital in any case.

"Understood," Sharpshooter said, and leveled his sights on the head of one of the two men, finger resting against the side of the rifle until he was ordered to fire.

---------------------------------------------
Meanwhile inside the hospital Titan had reached the room Rem was in, and had found the unconscious security guards outside, which didn't bode well. Though he hadn't actually expected the worm to go along peacefully, so it wasn't all that surprising. Sighing slightly he poked the door off its hinges. He immediately made a survey of the situation, two White Shield agents, Mirage and Tanya, that should be protected if at all practical, and five unknown, probably hostile, people who should be eliminated at the first sign of trouble, also the worm, who was very expendable.

"What's going on here then?" he asked the room in general, and Rem in particular.

Mirage tried to hide her relief at Titan's arrival. Damnit, if someone had told her a couple days ago that she'd be glad to see this guy... but is presence evened the odds if a fight broke out. Still, maybe they could prevent that.

"Everything's alright Titan. Rem's agreed to talk. But if these guys do turn hostile, take them out fast." She remembered the guards in the hall.

"Check on the guards. If they're hurt, will need a medical unit here, fast. Which means," she added, turning back to Rem, "that you only have a few minutes at most to tell me whatever you've got to say."

"Smith" said the man with the golden ring." You can call me Mr. Smith. And i'll have nothing to drink thank you. No my main reason to be here is to discuss your current campaign against super-humans. The upper echelon of Seacrest has been working on a very secret project that we think you would help us out with. It is something right up your alley. All we need is some funding." and with this he picked up a brief case which was handcuffed to his arm and opened it with a key from around his neck. "You see here is what we are trying to do...

ooc:sorry the rest is a secret that I will be tg to Romulan.

(OOC: Maybe, but they have done nothing to warrant that just yet.)

"The guards are alive, but unconscious," Titan said, not sounding overly concerned about their well-being, and he wasn't, they were inconsequential. He doubted that he would have any trouble taking out the potential hostiles, so he wasn't overly concerned about the prospect of a fight, though he wouldn't go and start one.

"Titan, Why have you brought friends into the equation? Rem asked. As he pulled back the curtain they could all see a red wave of light blocked the window.
"I refuse to talk about Nighthawk with Titan or his friends in, or around this building, they threaten my well being." Rem said with a small smile on his face.

"Oh Vera, about the men they are perfectly fine maybe knocked out and a little dazed, Fisto could have easily killed them but I don't want more unnessesary deaths." Rem said

Mirage shook her head.

"No deal Rem, Titan stays. But if he or anyone else starts anything, you have my word that I will not permit them to harm you without cause. Is that clear?" She glanced at Titan, wondering what he was up to and weather he really had something to do with the mysterious red light.

"Understandable," Rem said "But these men are not here to bust me out, but to act as body guards. God only knows if Reaper is going to keep his word and send people after me, and quite frankly I don't want to be rescued by a vampire." Hunter handed Rem a briefcase, Rem opened it and pulled out a small tape recorder with a tape inside Rem pressed play. It started with

"Are you ready to comply?" Rem asked

"Yes, yes." the man sobbed "7854 N. Santa Reid street, it is an old warehouse there is a staircase behind the vending machine but it requires a finger print scan." tears streamed down his face and he was shivering "There are cameras all around the North side but there are none on the south."

Rem stopped the tape, "their you have it the location of one of Nighthawk's cells, I can get more out of the prisoner later if you would like Vera." Rem smiled "Are you ready to go?"

There was a knock in the door to the congressman's office before it slowly opened, revealing a woman in the doorway. It was the same woman that had plucked the congressman's aide off of the street earlier that day, only her makeup was less gaudy, her clothing less trampy and her hair was longer and a completely different color.

She smiled a coy smile as her eyes scanned from the man with the golden ring over to the congressman. "Congressmen Roberts? I believe we have an appointment."

The woman gently closed the door behind her as she walked across the room, her high heels clicking against the floor. She sat down in an empty seat near where the other two men were sitting, crossing her legs as she did so. Her hair was well over shoulder length and a warm caramel color. She was dressed rather conservatively in a business suit that, while still looking quite professional, managed to hug her body in all of the right places. She bore next to no resemblance to the woman that had escorted the young aide to the meeting earlier that day, but not that it mattered. Neither of the two men had seen her before anyway.

The woman looked at Roberts before she spoke again. "Oracle sent me on his behalf to finalize any details concerning your contract with Fulcrum. That and I'm here to fulfill your requested need for security."

The woman's gaze drifted over to the man with the golden ring briefly before she looked back at the congressman. "I hope this isn't a bad time..."

His name was Rage and he was the hidden leader of the most powerful super terrorist organization, he had hid in the shaddows for years as he built the ravaged carcass of the Nighthawks into a real power, no longer shall he hide in the shadows, no longer will he lay in wait, his time was now. He had spent the last few years consolditating his power and authority and had brought with him men that would serve his purposes well. Hate, and Lightning were ready to take their aggresion out against the filthy "normals" that had tormented his childhood, and now that he had a country that could shield him he was ready to take his revenge.

"Lightning, Hate take our fight to the filthy White Shield and their allies on Marda, make certain they will NEVER FORGET YOU. We are the future of this world and if we are to claim our rightful future we must make sure that the these useless supers are out of our way. Who are they to stand in the way of our rightful claim to power, WHO ARE THEY TO GAURD THE USELESS." Rage was quite literally in a rage and he was ready to let his hate and anger spill over onto the normals who would dare to challenge his infinite power.

"Yes my master" was the response from the two who stood before him. "we are your pawns our lives our yours" continued Hate, "the future belongs to those who will take it" continued Lightning. "FOR THE NIGHTHAWKS FOR THE FUTURE!!" they finished in unison.

And so begins a new chapter in the story of the Nighthawks.

The rooftops of Marda

He sat there on the roof for some time. Thinking. Contemplating. Wondering.

He thought about the creature and the lives that had been lost by it's hand. He thought about his first encounter with it at the White Shield's base of operations and his confrontation there. The creature coming from above, killing all that he could find. The one known as "Rem", with a captive in hand, slithering his way up from below. It made no sense, their reason for being there. The creature's motivations were obvious; it was an ender and existed only to destroy, but not Rem. No, the pair of them fought that deep into the White Shield building for what? A confrontation and an exchange of words? Rem had nothing to gain but a sword through his stomach. There had to be something more.

Nothing ever truely ends, but only begins. There are no endings, only ellipses, and that meant there had to be a loose end that still needed to be tied.

Ven didn't break his gaze from the sky as he rooted around in his pockets for his watch. Without looking he pressed the button that released the cover's latch. His watch helped him in many ways, possibly the most important of which being that it gave him direction when he had none. Whether or not it could help him here was iffy. The only reason it had led him to the creature was because it was a wave and was negatively effecting the balance.

With a degree of hesitation Ven pressed the top button on the watch with his thumb, watching the clock hands spin around for a brief moment. He stopped looking at the sky and righted himself where he sat on the rooftop, sitting up strait as he held the watch parallel with the ground. The hands spun for what felt like an eon before the lined up and came to a rest, pointing off to the west.

He had to return to the White Shield building at some point, if only to talk to the Lady Mirage to fill her in, but he wouldn't do it now. No, he would make sure he had finished what he started before he returned to her. Ven didn't know where he would be heading or what he would find once he got there, and there was only one way to find out.

Ven slowly rose from the ground and walked to the center of the rooftop, to the creature's remains. In the widening pool of blood there was want looked like an amulet or a necklace of some sort. It was old and tarnished, it's origins completely unknown to him. Ven reached down and picked up the heavy chain, depositing it into a pocket. He would take it with him as proof of death to show to Mirage later on.

He looked off into the distance, to the west. Towards his destination, wherever it was.

Ven is now headed towards the Shade building wherever the hell Reaper and Melody went after the White Shield attack to confront Melody (even though he doesn't know it yet) and to free up Rose so she can enter the storyline/game world in earnest.

If you are aware of how to thread your needle without tearing the thread, you might get the idea to do your sewing elsewhere, and this little spider would not like that, no she would not."

Rose blinked, the hangover headache still getting the best of her. "So you basically just said 'stay put', right?" Her voice heavy with resignation. "Alright, I guess I can work with that for now. What exactly are we supposed to be doing?" She had the sinking feeling that she'd just gone from waist deep shit to neck deep. "Or rather, what are you supposed to be doing as I was just told to stay put?" She closed her eyes for a moment, still feeling the fringes of Reaper's mind, or rather, the end of the fringes of his mind.
"Melody, I think Reaper is dead. I can't feel him anymore."

EDIT: I reread a bunch of what I missed, and it occurs to me an event occurred elsewhere which effects Melody and Rose, and we need to know of it. So please excuse the asspull.

Titan doubted that this information would be useful at all, unless Nighthawk was full of bumbling idiots who failed to notice that someone who knew of their location had disappeared. Chances were that they would find the place empty, and if there were still people there then Nighthawk was full of bumbling idiots and therefore much less of a threat. So either find the place empty and prove that Rem was useless, or find the place still occupied and get to kill some Nighthawk idiots, neither sounded all that bad.

Seeing as how it was basically a win-win situation he saw no reason to not come along, though the final decision would obviously be up to Primus, him being the commander and all.

Marda

"Let this world burn before the might of the Nighthawk organization" spoke Lightning as he got out of one of the organizations helicopters, "And let those who oppose us have a violent trip to the next world" continued Hate as he followed Lightning. "May the oceans of this world drowned in the blood of our oppressors we are Nighthawk" they finished in unison. These two had become as close as brothers during their time with the Nighthawks, and now under Rage's direction they were ready if need be to give their lives in the name of a better future for Rage and his organization. They walked into the city and were undoubtedly going to make sure that death followed them on the way out.

OOC: I know I said I was going to intro Smiles in with Shade, but with Reaper's death and Rem's capture that is becoming increasingly difficult so I think I'm going to intro her as a test subject of Nighthawk.
God's a homophobe, or secretly in a space closet, why do u think he made Mary have a virgin birth? He didn't want to touch a girl...Also notice how all of god's main pals are men(arch angels) coincidence? I think not.

"This is Mr. Smith, representing the Seacrest Shipping Corporation. He has a proposal for me which is classified at this time, but which with his permission I would like to share with you in the future."

The woman nodded an extended a hand in greeting to Mr. Smith. "Names aren't important right now, but my Fulcrum-assigned handle is 'Harem'... not for the reason that you think," she added as an afterthought. "I've heard... 'interesting' things about Seacrest and I'm sure my employer would be interested to hear of your involvement."

The woman that identified herself as "Harem" looked over at Congressman Roberts. "If the two of you are discussing things that you'd rather not have me know about I can make myself scarce for a while until you need me. However, before I do that Oracle wanted me to pass along that our operation is ready to commence per... "I have no problem with it" said the man with the golden ring briefly shaking her hand. I will let the congressman fill you in.

ooc: I might not be able to pay attention to this for a few days due to the activities occuring in general which I am somewhat concerned by.

The Congressman smiled.

"I think that it would be for the best if both your organizations were working together at this time and on these specific issues. I will pass on the details of the operation to Fulcrum's representative presently."

(OOC: I will send the details by telegram to maintain secrecy for the time being.)
"Our progress in degeneracy appears to me to be pretty rapid. As a nation, we began by declaring that "all men are created equal." We now practically read it "all men are created equal, except negroes" When the Know-Nothings get control, it will read "all men are created equal, except negroes, and foreigners, and Catholics." When it comes to this I should prefer emigrating to some country where they make no pretence of loving liberty -- to Russia, for instance, where despotism can be taken pure, and without the base alloy of hypocracy." - President Abraham Lincoln.

39 Finlayson lane, 10.30pm

The van rolled up the pebbled driveway of 39 Finlayson lane. The area was the top cream of the rich of Newport. If you wanted a large fortress of a house with a private security guards and no one that could bug you like door to door salesmen, Finlayson lane was the place. Number 39 looked like it was something out of colonial times, with a large wall surrounding the mansion to keep people from looking in.

The only way into the place was via a gateway with reinforced steel gates, and a single guard booth with a plastic-like bullet proof window to stop anyone from simply trying to ram the gates open. Basically the perfect place for some of non-legal interactions.

However, for the hired private security night guard sitting the booth with a thunderstorm about to break, it wasn’t the best job in the world. Sure it was quicker to pay of the mortgage this way instead of joining the police force, but at least it would be more excited than forcing salesmen away for some rich, uptight, and most likely paranoid man.

So when he heard the sound of a vehicle coming up the driveway he was actually pleased, at least tonight he’d get some human contact. The white van that rolled into view, the blood red words of ‘Devito’s Pest Control, The leader of The War on Pests’ could be seen clearly on the light of the booth. The van slowed to a stop, the guard flashed his torch into the front, the torch-light picked out two people in orange chemical suits and grey gas masks looking at him. The appearance of these two people sent shivers down the spine of the guard, it was unnerving to not see something that showed that these two people were human.

“Who are you two?” the security guard asked, an obvious question, but a necessary one as he needed to relax the tension a bit.

“We here about a pest problem,” the passenger said, his voice barely heard through the gas mask, the bullet-proof plastic and the sound of the van’s engine.

“What pest problem?” the security guard asked, anything like this would have been told.

“Hold on. Franco! Get the little bugger out for the gentleman to see!”

Another man clambered out of the back of the van the bold black words of Franco on the back of the suit. The man was carrying a box, and clutching it as though he was trying to keep something inside of it. The man placed in front of the air holes in the glass and opened it. The security guard looked in, and saw the end of a small leather hose. He was reaching for the panic button when a loud hiss sound followed by a choke stench filled the booth. The guard collapsed on the floor trying to breath, but no air entered his lungs.

Stubbs watched the man struggle in agony as the poisonous gas filled his lungs. An unfortunate death, but a necessary one, besides he’d seen worst and at least he would die by the time they were leaving. He opened the door to the booth, and stepped over the still twitching body of the guard, pressed a single button and the gates swung open mechanically.

“Poor bastard,” the driver commented.

“Don’t worry Edgar,” the passenger commented, “At least he doesn’t have to take the blame for this.”

“But, Robert…”

“What did I just say.”

“Fine let’s get over with this, I don’t want to spend another minute idling next to a corpse.”

“You talking about him or me?”
Stubbs asked.

“Never mind let’s just do this and get home.”

Stubbs climbed back into the van, and proceed up the driveway. In the booth the guards eyes stared blankly at the pale blue ceiling, a gaze of peace in his eyes.
