This is a recruitment thread with the intention of forming a coalition of future tech civilizations who are either located, or control sizeable assets within, the Galactic North quadrants of the Milky Way galaxy (I.E. the Norma and Crux-Scutum arms). The Imperial Republic of the North (Hereafter referred to as IRON) will by objective be primarily in the interest of mutual security, defense and survival of member-nations. Furthermore, the formation of this coalition shall encourage Northern economic prosperity, introduction to foreign and independent cultures, a sense of brotherhood amongst nations of common astrographical location, and technological development.
IRON shall function upon a classic Republic system. Member-nations shall each have a say in the direction IRON takes. As founder, Trailer's only executive power shall be the right to final say upon a nations admittance into IRON, and final say upon a member-nations expulsion from IRON in the event majority member-nations call for a Vote of Excommunication. Furthermore, Trailers shall temporarily fulfill the role of IRON Diplomat, and shall handle trivial relations with foreign alliances. All major matters shall be put to an open vote before the Assembly. Other than the above expulsion exception, Trailers shall have but one vote like any other member on all issues, foreign and domestic.
In order to be considered for membership, the applicant nation must hold sovereignty over at least one celestial body, be it planet, moon, or inter-stellar asteroid field within the northern arms of the Milky Way Galaxy (Hereafter: The North).
All applicants must hereby accept and sign the IRON Charter as follows in order to be considered for the coalition.
Free Charter of the Imperial Republic of the North
Article One
Statute 1.: All member-nations of IRON (Hereafter: members) shall swear under penalty of perjury to dutifully respond with military force to any foreign power that threatens the sovereignty and independence of the North and their fellow members.
Statute 2.: In the event that a non-foreign power (I.E. member) undergoes a forceful change of ruling caste or regime (I.E. a coup) his fellow members shall under penalty of perjury dutifully respond with military force to preserve the original ruling caste or regime that signed this charter and brought their nation into the brotherhood of the North.
Statute 3.: No member of IRON shall seek to overthrow, subvert, or threaten the independence of his fellow member, either openly or covertly. Breaching of Article One, Statute 3 shall result in the immediate expulsion of the aggressor-member who will then be declared a threat to the sovereignty and independence of the North. See Statute 1.
Article Two
Statute 1.: All member nations shall take part in a General Assembly (Hereafter: "Assembly") who shall be charged with the duty of deciding upon all issues that effect IRON as a whole by way of popular vote. Issues may be raised by any member of IRON at any time. Once raised, general consensus will decide whether or not a vote is called.
Statute 2.: It is the responsibility of the Assembly to decide upon the admittance of an applicant who has had past negative relations with any current member-state. This shall be referred to as an Vote of Exemption. It is the responsibility of the aforementioned member-state who has had negative relations with the aforementioned applicant to raise awareness of said relations and call this vote into effect.
Statute 3.: It is the Assembly's duty to with just cause, call for a Vote of Excommunication, in which a member is non-violently removed from the Charter, IRON, and all assets of the excommunicated member are removed from the territory of the Galactic North. If said assets are abandoned, surrendered, or refused, the North shall then be forced to use arms to enforce this statute.
Statute 3.: The Assembly shall have the power to with popular vote make adjustments, reforms, and additions to the IRON Charter, which upon conclusion of a Vote of Amendment all changes shall be effective immediately. However, the original three articles of the IRON Charter shall not be subject to a Vote of Amendment and are in effect permanent.
Article Three
In the event that a disaster, be it natural, internal, or economic, befalls any member-state it is the duty of all other members to offer assistance necessary to preserve the survival and independence of their brethren.
This concludes the Charter of the Imperial Republic of the North.
