"An airliner with three hundred people aboard doesn't just vanish. Find it."
- Adm. Harry Haida
It happened in an instant. In the early pre-dawn hours of March 27, 2040, Volksnord Flight 117 on a route from Himmelsdorf in the Green Union to Schwannsdorf in Auersten suddenly dropped off of radar. There was no distress call, no report of mechanical failure, no warning of any kind that something was wrong until, in an instant, the plane and her hundreds of souls, many of them from nations outside of Markion, disappeared without a trace into the swirling vastness of Markion's Central Ocean.
But this disappearance confounds normal explanation, because Volksnord Flight 117 was not alone. Among her ordinary passengers she counted a full delegation of Green Union officials flying to Auersten for an emergency summit, a precious cargo which necessitated the flight be escorted by two modern fighter jets. These jets, too, have not been heard from again. What could have caused three planes to disappear in an instant? Is it related to the horrific events which rocked Markion just one week ago, and the emergency summit those delegates were rushing to attend? Or is the rationale more mundane, like a freak weather event? Whatever the case, one thing is certain: Hundreds of lives are now on the line, some of whom may be from your nation. There isn't a moment to delay.

Rules:
- Avoid one-liners
- There is no OOC thread; keep OOC chatter to a minimum, and use TG or Discord to resolve confusion
- Always quote the post or portion of a post you are responding to; keep the many storylines cohesive
- Keep it semi-realistic. This means:
- Have a valid reason to get involved, such as . . .
- Your nation having citizens on the plane?
- Your navy ships already patrolling in the area?
- Your investigators looking to improve their own aircraft safety?
- Sidestepping the government entirely, such as roleplaying a fishing boat
- Other creative motivations not involving the deployment of huge military contingents
- Markion is a far off region for most, so extra-regional players not already flagged as friends of Markion are limited to two ships of any type
- And finally, focus on the narrative. This isn't a competitive roleplay. Everyone is on the same side, so working together is the best course of action
