We are looking to increase our Moderator coverage for the roleplay forums, and therefore want to add one or more Moderators to the team with experience of roleplaying on the site, and with a desire to moderate in this area. Following a few retirements over recent years, we are aware that we don't have the levels of expertise and representation from the roleplay community on the Moderator staff that we would wish for.
To be clear, we are referring to the Factbooks and National Information, NationStates, International Incidents, Global Economics and Trade, and Portal to the Multiverse forums. We are comfortable with our Moderator coverage for the NS Sports community, having recently appointed a new Moderator experienced in this area.
We are looking for people who meet the following criteria:
- Post regularly in one or more of the roleplay forums specified above. It is not necessary to participate in all of them. However, it is essential that you have experience within at least one of these communities, and post recently and regularly within it.
- Happy to act as a Moderator within those forums. While we don't have time requirements for our volunteer staff, you do need to be willing to invest some time in learning our policies and in responding to reports. It is also worth bearing in mind that being a Moderator may impinge on your posting as a player - if you are an active participant in a particular roleplay thread, then for conflict of interests reasons you would not be able to moderate in it.
- Be at least 18 years old.
- A willingness to use Discord for intra-team communication, as this makes a massive difference in supporting each other with both initial training and also when seeking advice on rulings.

What's the deadline for applying?
There is no particular deadline for applications - when we are no longer looking, this announcement will be taken down. We will look to update people on our progress on a regular basis.
How many people are you looking for?
We do not have a target for a number of people to take on - it depends on the applications that come through, but we hope to appoint multiple Moderators.
I don't roleplay on the forums but still want to be a Moderator - can I apply?
Please do not. It is vital you have an understanding of the culture and communities that roleplay on the NS forums.
I have some blemishes on my Moderation record. Can I still apply?
Yes. This is considered as part of the Moderator team review.
