The News Of Gracefall - Updated Whenever The Hell

Gracefall Daily News
The GDN Network

"Hello, shalom, good morning, Navarilo!" Spoke the broadcaster in a strangely friendly, yet manner-of-factly tone. He spun in his chair to face the camera, and below him a subtitle clarified "Solomon Traes" as he let out a goofy grin towards the camera with well-trimmed black hair and a slightly-above average face, tanned and subtly wrinkled from years of stress, adorned in a buisness suit with a notable coffee stain on the tie.

A camera pan slightly to the right revealed a petite, small, and actually rather short female in a red, long dress, her auburn-tinted hair falling down to her shoulders as she let out a similar faked grin towards the camera, a similar subtitle on the lower-right corner of the screen in white text reading "Lulu Kaynlyn".

They spoke simultaneously and loudly, with a strange flair of simply not caring betraying their strange aura of over-the-top happiness...

"And welcome to Gracefall In The Morning!"

Solomon grinned at the camera as he turned his messy pile of papers barely stapled together, opening it up and quickly snapping his eyes back to the camera.

"We're broadcasting to you live from Navarilo, Gracefall, the capital city, where recently elected Grand Leader Alex Raymond resides! But enough of the old news..."

He rambles on and on, subtly gesturing to his right, prompting the camera to turn it's lens onto Lulu with a slow rotation.

"Right now, we're going to be sending to you live, Chad Matthews, our field reporter, covering the protest region in Gracefall and one of it's rather large... problems. Chad?"

The camera cuts into another unit quickly, with a double screen slowly appearing with Chad in front of a street of immolated/ing men being blown down with firehoses with a mix of contempt of gratefulness from the protestors on the right of the screen, while Solomon and Lulu sitting patiently on the left. Chad is brushed with a spray of water, and brushes the area quickly, murmuring something most likely obscene before turning to smile at the camera.

"Thanks Lulu! As we all know, following government action, protests are now centralized in an area in the city of Loagahano, famous for it's high-security and thus it's safety. However, though a policeman was killed in a previous protest, safety of government officials is no longer the problem. Instead, the problem is of the recent legalization, also, of flag-burning."

He nods, and the camera cuts to a beautiful view of the Gracefall flag, underneath it as it sways and tosses in the wind.

"It is a symbol of both freedom and a decent society, with, according to a somewhat recent census, a nearly 100% literacy rating. Flag-burning has always been legal as a symbol of protest, but never has it been so big as it has recently been declared perfectly legal."

Cuts back to Chad.

"These protest districts are relatively tight with protestors, and if it's large enough, the government will usually listen. But today, unfortunately, the flag-burning protestors and protestors over tax rates, the illegality of cannabilism, and the salary of high-ranking government officials, got a bit too crowded, and some immolation has occured."

Chad steps slowly to the side, allowing the viewer a better view as the camera zooms in on the various pained bodies, labored or, occasionally, no breathing.

"And now we have an account of a protestor of salaries of government officials... thank you."

A burnt face appeared on the screen, his voice scratchy.

"It was terrible," said the man. "Flames crawled all over this huge wave of people, people were screaming, punching, kicking. It was like a mosh pit of death. Everyone was falling all over, their faces burned and they would get stampeded. I was a lucky one."

A sudden cut back to Chad.

"Terrible. The casualty rate is being investigated, though it is assumed that Gracefall census-takers may put a low priority on it due to their rather hard bias. One has to wonder what Alex Raymond will do with this controversy so close to his position in office. Will flag-burning be illegalized for the first time in the history of Gracefall? Only time will tell."

"And now, for the weather!" Said Chad, slowly regaining his faux-happy tone.

A map of Gracefall appears on the screen, a large man appearing with a stick in hand. Unfortunately, he also chose to bring a green tie onto the green screen, which results in a rather humorous touch of a tie filled with pressure and storm movement markers.

"Well, right now we have some serious pressure waves coming towards Marito, which, be it as that is the buisness capital of Gracefall, could do some serious damage if any major tornadoes kick up. We're issuing a storm warning for west Gracefall, as well! Some serious danger as Hurricane Yaga brushes up against the shore, and it's already done some mild damage as a tropical storm to Hoshonalo, the area of most vacations in Gracefall. We're hoping it won't do much else, however.

"In Central Gracefall, right here in Navarilo, the seismic forces seem to be brewing up a mild party at the plates - that's right! We may be having a little earthquake on our hands! Nothing to worry about, however. Scientests say it won't rank higher than a 4.0 at most.

"In East Gracefall, some tiny winds are picking up, probably 'cause of those massive rains! Good thing, those Easties were going through some major droughts right then! Overall, it's getting cold for our summer, so you may wanna put on an extra jacket or two! Haha!"

The camera cut back to Solomon, who smiles and begins to talk again.

"Up next, we have reports of nuclear testing being initiated once more, due to the production of both... get those folks - stratospheric and underwater nuclear bombs! It's amazing, I know. But right now, we have a message from our sponsors and than the leading television show of Gracefall, Stormy Night! Thank you!"

(OOC: Trying to improve roleplaying. Anyway, leave constructive criticism, and if a news story ICly interests you, just make a post. Thanks.)

Yeah, you've really got to worry about those vandettas.
