On the military front, Stormtrooper training was expanded so that stormtroopers became accurate with their shots and new recruits were giving hand to hand combat training so that if they lose their blaster rifles then they would still be able to fight. Star Destroyers and Super Star Destroyers were giving additional armor around the bridge and the engines.
