Map of Nattia
The Nattian Civil War is over.
Now begins the hard work of rebuilding the nation. The small island nation of Nattia has just emerged from a short but brutal civil war sparked by a coup by General Leo Pekkarinen against the absolutist King Otto II, and his murder of the royal family. Pekkarinen, seizing power for himself as a military dictator, however faced resistance and following an attack on the palace, he was killed in the fighting, and order was restored under the new Provisional Council of State and the Regent, Admiral Paavo Harjula.
The Provisional Council of State, now comprised of five civil servants, Konsta Vanhatalo, August Wirtanen, Santeri Halonen, Lenni Koski, Taisto Nurmi, backed by the Triumvirate the true power in the country, Colonel Elmeri Inha, Colonel Hermanni Raita and Colonel Sami Janhunen have adopted a new constitution, promising seemingly everything to everyone as they reform Nattia into a new constitutional monarchy, introducing new democratic institutions while maintaining the power and influence of the military. Adopting a new constitution written by Janhunen, the Provisional Council now looks to the future, with three goals—
1. Reformation— reforming laws in the kingdom to introduce democracy into the country as well as reconciliation between the pro-military, pro-monarchist and pro-democracy sentiments in the kingdom. Normalize foreign relations, gain foreign aid and investments into Nattia and build strengthening alliances with the international community.
2. Restoration— the selection of a new King of Nattia and the cementing the monarchy’s new role in the kingdom.
3. Reconstruction— the rebuilding of the country which has been heavily damaged by the conflict which saw 173,000 people, overwhelmingly civilians die, and internally displaced 100,000 more people. The city of Foutila and Loupa are entirely in ruins while, The capital Harjukuapunki, and the cities Salosaari, Alajari, Rynkar and Hevanpaa have all been heavily damaged by fighting. 80% of the population is without electricity, while the port of Salosaari is in ruins, and there remains only one airport, in Harjukuapunki. The destruction of roads and nearly all bridges in the country leaves overland travel across the country virtually impossible while the traditional seat of government, the palace is in shambles.
With these three main and hefty goals on the plate of the Provisional Council of State and the Triumvirate, they seek to tackle them both internationally and domestically as they work to secure the future of Nattia.
