THE PROCLAMATION ON THE RIGHTS OF THE INDIVIDUAL

Know ye all men that this document states that slavery is a heinous and cruel offence and must be prohibited, condemned and punished. In the below articles, the rights of the individual are outlined and must be respected and followed by all signatories to this proclamation. Drafted in August 2023 as a response to recent increased activity of slavery and ratified on 2nd September 2023, this document will serve as a basis for the human and civil rights of an individual, aiming to one day fully end the slave trade and create a more civilised, fair and equal society for all.

Article I ~ Defines that all are created equal and should not be discriminated against for any reason. All persons should henceforth be considered as the free, and not as the property of any individual, company, or institution et cetera.

Article II~ Observing that the acts of owning, distributing or purchasing slaves is a crime and therefore should be treated as such and punished appropriately. This varies between state law, however still defines that all slave owning individuals, companies or institutions eat cetera, must be treated as criminals.

The First Amendment: Recognising that the crime of slavery also extends to purchasing materials made by slaves or produced by companies that benefit off of the slave trade, whether directly or indirectly. Also urging those who purchase items produced by slave labour to boycott wares.

Article III- Reinforcing these principles/laws via force if necessary. This includes and is not limited to: sanctioning bodies that benefit from slave labour, and potentially emancipating slaves via force should it be considered absolutely necessary.

The government of the Holy Nifonese Empire wishes to communicate this to the international community; that the government of the Holy Nifonese Empire views this proclaimation as a farce.

Slavery is an ancient institution that has been practiced in multiple cultures, regardless of moral judgement on the issue. The Holy Nifonese Empire does not consider it's mission to make the world a better place, but to provide for the Nifonese interests - and as such it acknowledges that it may have to do business with nations that follow different moral standards. Slavery is one of the areas and the Empire of Greater Nifon has no desire to stop trading with nations involved in slavery, despite the practice being banned in Nifon itself.

The government of the Holy Nifonese Empire holds to a belief that the sole reason why this document exists is to provide justification for the nations that partake in it to invade, conquer and colonies other nations. It is the view of the Kubo-sama that the best way of reducing slavery is to provide healthy opportunities for more efficient ways to labor to develop, rather than pointless wars that do not consider international context and create only chaos.

The Holy Nifonese Empire wishes however to state that it may be willing to reconsider it's stance of the nations in this proclamation make it more beneficial for the Empire of Greater NIfon.
If enough nations offer the Holy Nifonese Empire unilateral access to their markets or access to key resources Nifon nees, the Empire of Greater Nifon may reconsider their stance.
