President Una Coombs stared into the distance. She’d finally become president, after the massive split, and the war of independence that lead to the independence of New England. But at what cost? The nation had become divided. Her office was big, too big, and the silence, deafening.

No. She wouldn’t think about that. She had governing to do, and no-one was going to stop her.

“William? Could you get Prime Minister Blanikov over?”

Suddenly, a man burst into the room, knocking the picture of President along over, as he stumbled through towards her. On his suit, a lapel pin that told you what you needed to know. The AUA.

“Mr… Madame President. We have some urgent news from the CDC. It’s from Atlanta, the Airport specifically. You’re going to need to see this.”

The Infected individual had boarded the plane from Wuhan, hoping to escape from the virus and the infection. Unfortunately for him, he had already been bitten and only caused further problems.

The infected had gone into a coma mid-flight, but the people around him dismissed it as flight-weariness. However, their minds changed when he reanimated and caused an outbreak in Atlanta.


China

China had barely closed its borders before the outbreak spread. Unfortunately, some infected had escaped to neighboring countries and caused outbreaks. The illegal smuggling only made things worse. Despite China's best efforts to contain the virus and suppress the media, word leaked from various ambassadors stationed in Beijing. Terrifying reports of the "living dead" were released to the world's countries. Now, the outbreak was beginning...

“ATTENTION ATLANTA CIVILIANS. THIS AREA IS UNDER LOCKDOWN. ANY ATTEMPT TO LEAVE YOUR HOUSE WILL BE MET WITH FORCE.”

The CDC had finally arrived. Thousands would die, they most certainly would, but for now, a quarantine had been set up. For how long? That was another story. The Airport had been cleared, and Patient Zero had been “eliminated” and sterilised. Now, the autopsy would begin.

Socialist India is in a panic as Chinese immigrants flood though the north the infected followed. They over run the city’s of, Kargil, Srinagar and Leh. The military built up trenches and mine fields on the Chenab River.
7,800 troops stationed at the bridge with 122 transport vehicles and 87 APCS. Tanks and other equipment were now being shipped over to the river.

Italy sees the zombie pandemic at China and other nations and responds accordingly by sending troops onto the border between France, Austria, Switzerland, Slovenia, and italy. Broder that, they have to be trained on how to kill zombies, high can take a few days, so they close borders for now, and wait for the troops to be trained. They also send a message to other nations.

World Leaders, please refrain from going to Italy, it's borders are closed.

This is proceeded by a construction of a wall, which is not finished yet and will take a few months or years due to the timescale.

When news of the outbreak(s) in China and Atlanta begin to break out, the Novayan government ordered the Federal Intelligence Service and Special Operations Command to begin anti-zombie operations; the FIS and SOCOM were also given full authority to pull in additional troops. At the same time the Novayan government partially mobilized the Novayan Armed Forces, Federal Police Service, Federal Intelligence Service Special Activities Division, and Federal Security Bureau to help contain any and all outbreaks and shut down and investigate the black markets as well as the countryside, sewers and railways, as well as any other places within the nation which might be host to zombie outbreaks. Airports, docks, subways and railways were partially shut down as troops comb for any potential zombies that might have come to Novaya;

While many nations think of this as a sort of fearmongering, the Novayan government and people had every right to be afraid. While the Novayan military, intelligence and police agencies begin combing out any and all areas for possible zombie infestations, Novayan civilians, having learned from their parents, grandparents and great-grandparents of the stories of the living dead and the ways to fight them, began arming up and created citizen guard militias well-versed in anti-zombie combat techniques as well as ancient and modern warfare. Armed with pitchforks, garbage lids and improvised shields, swords, spears, axes, bows, arrows and crossbows, maces and even guns, the citizen guard militias would scrounge their hometowns, villages and cities for the living dead. They are well-versed on the ways of properly killing them, as well burning the corpses to prevent any and all potential vectors.

Some citizen guard militias take one step further. While cooperating with government security forces, the citizen guard militias would utilize a unique type of combined arms tactics. A number of spike traps of varying sizes were placed haphazardly and intricately to help slow down the zombies; during this time the gunners would aim for the heads from a distance using slow yet accurate firing. The first row of militiamen were equipped with rectangle shields which comes with long sharpened metal or wood spikes protruding at the front to help stop any and all zombies from advancing, while the second and third rows would use spears to stab or guns to shoot the zombies' heads. Alternatively, the militias could go all out, using controlled firing and precision to help win the day. They may also lure the zombies using strategically-placed loudspeakers into designated killing fields and kill zones that had been prepared.

Already, many residences would be fitted with anti-zombie barriers which would prevent any zombies from entering or exiting homes; daily police visits help make sure the anti-zombie barriers were working. Also, the residences would be fortified as well, with the living rooms doubling as pillboxes, basements doubling as ammunition and/or supply stores or command and communications posts, and attics as gunner nests, command and communications posts, and watchposts. Even church/cathedral towers would serve as watchposts and sniper posts.

The Novayan government had recently established the Inter-Agency Task Force for the Secure Containment and Prevention of Unknown Outbreaks to help secure, contain, prevent and protect. In reality, it is a mask to coordinate anti-zombie operations. Additional plans were made to mitigate and even shatter any potential zombie outbreaks.

Outbreaks in China have almost collapsed the country. While China has a large and formidable military, the sheer number of soldiers doesn't help. In fact, the more soldiers China sends at the zombies, the more zombies there are. As such, China has fallen very quickly, it seems, as is has ceased communication
Neighboring countries now face the billion-or-so infected and reanimated corpses streaming out of China.
North Korea, though, has an advantage: with easily defendable borders and a large military, they are most certainly able to survive the outbreak.

Refugees are also a problem. Large numbers of people quickly spread conventional disease and it only takes one infected individual to start massive outbreaks, such as those in SE Asia and Russia. Fleeing Chinese citizens board ships by the thousands, but only 1-in-100 make it out alive. Even so, some ships succumb to the disease, spreading the virus even more.
A notable example of these "Zombie fleets" is the one heading for Santoak.

In the meantime, Russia attempts to slow the massive swarms in Siberia, to no avail. The swarms now head westward, attracted by the high population density of Europe.

In South America, illegal organ harvesting has caused major outbreaks in Brazil, Argentina, and Venezuela, and in multiple hospitals across the continent. The situation in South America is reflected across the globe, as more and more people succumb to the plague.

A notable example of these "Zombie fleets" is the one heading for Santoak.

The Novayan Navy was tasked to deploy the Pacific Fleet (consisting of the 1st through 3rd Fleet) to ascertain the status of the refugee ships. The Chinese refugee ships would be contacted and their captains instructed to order the refugees to lock down until Novayan soldiers board the ships to eliminate the zombies.

If there are few zombies the civilians are to use their bags to hold off the few zombies, but if there are many zombies the civilians are to hole up in any rooms that is safe, and ensure that no one is infected; those who have been bitten must have their hands and feet tied up to prevent any more infections. Novayan marines and Special Warfare Teams were sent to help clear out the zombies; the Novayan Air Force Security Forces saw action in helping clear the zombies to allow the Chinese refugees to land. No stones will be left unturned.

As for the "zombie fleets", the Novayan Army were sent aboard Novayan Navy ships to help clear out any zombies. The Novayan Air Force Security Forces is also involved in the clearing of the zombie fleets. No stones will be left unturned. If there are survivors, then they would be evacuated after the zombies were cleared.

Due to the dangers of being overwhelmed, Novayan forces were supplemented by regular soldiers, private military contractors, mercenaries and highly-skilled armed civilians. Three to five full platoons were inserted and divided into individual squads, in turn into individual fireteams. In the case of cruise ships, at least two full companies must be inserted to help clear them out; additional full infantry squads were also inserted to augment the two full companies. No stones will be left unturned.

The Majaphit Union closes all borders with outside countries and will kill anyone found entering the country, still some small infections have broken out in the country.

Due to small infections getting in before the borders at Italy were closed, Italy now enters a severe quarantine and lockdown, but gives the population a free gun to defend themselves from any zombies. Sadly, this does not turn well in some areas, and mass-shootings happen in high crime areas. Italy responds to this via getting a stronger police force to detain and control these crime areas. Italy is in a state of both security and chaos.

As the first waves of refugees arrive from China, SE Asian countries find themselves overwhelmed by the sheer amount of people. Over 400 million people had fled China, looking for refuge from the zombie virus. Thousands of cruise ships, fishing boats, private yachts, and tankers swarm the coasts of the countries. However, some sink on their voyage, sending thousands of people into the inky blue depths of the Pacific Ocean. These thousands of people will eventually become a significant problem, zombies do not need air to survive. In fact, nations across the world may find the undead rising out of the waves like something from Pirates of the Caribbean.

However, refugee swarms are not limited to Asian countries. Hundreds of ships cross the Pacific, hoping to be accepted by the Americans. America will soon find the West Coast being polluted by hundreds of thousands of Asian ships.


In Europe, the massive Siberian Swarms have reached Chelyabinsk and have taken down Kazakhstan. And while the Russian Army tries to keep the Swarms away, they cannot stop them from approaching major Russian cities. Evacuations to the West have begun, but Russia may find that the massive tent cities cause more of a problem than they solve. And already some Russian generals support the notion of launching nuclear missiles to stop the Swarms.

Meanwhile, the United Kingdom has almost fallen. London has plunged into chaos as the undead crawl through the streets, devouring anybody they find. However, the British find refuge in old castles which have been restored to their former glory. It is in these castles that the British fight off giant sieges consisting of hundreds of thousands of zombies from the cities.
And in a similar fashion to those fleets of the East, refugees flee in the thousands to mainland Europe and Regnum Alea...

Michael Rockefeller wakes from his slumber, getting up. He does his daily routine, just like every day: Shower, Brush, Deodorant, and Clothing. He goes to watch TV, to see what he missed over in the East, specifically his mortal enemy, China.
He hears different news today.
“This reported, Around 400 Million Chinese flee their country to go to the countries of Southeast Asia, known more commonly as Indochina. There appears to be a new plague of some sort. There have also been outbreaks in Atlanta, Georgia.”
Michael begins to panic.

He turns to a local news channel in Norfolk, Virginia.
“EMERGENCY BROADCAST SYSTEM
Today, a horrid day has descended Norfolk. The Zombies have arrived, and it’s not long until they reach Washington. Flee to the countryside, specifically the Appalachian mountains. It is I advised to head towards New England, since the Zombies appear to be headed that direction.
I REPEAT, FLEE NORFOLK.”

“Oh no…
GET ME JAY, NOW!”
Jay hears this echo throughout Kykuit, and quickly rushes to reach Michael.
“What is it, Rocky?”
“The Zombie Apocalypse has begun.
China is Collapsed, if not already.
Norfolk has fallen.
The Zombies are going to Washington next.
New England is after.
Get those borders closed, NOW!”
“Of course, sir!”
“Send the military to the border.
Try to line as much of the border with America as we can.
I’ll ban immigration, Emigration, trade with the outside world, anything to isolate us from the rest of the world. Finally, I’ll have construction of bunkers begin.”
“Of course, sir.”
Jay runs out, and heads to his helicopter. His destination: Boston, where the Army, led my General Douglas MacArthur Jr.
“Big Mac, send the military to the border with America. If you must, do the same with the Canadian border.”
“What so?”
“The Zombie Apocalypse has begun.”
“Got it, sir!
MEN! Go to the American border, NOW!
Our survival is at stake, so you must!
The Zombies have arrived to our plane of existence, and is not a case of fiction.
These Zombies began in China, and spread FAST.”

Meanwhile, Michael heads to Congress.
“Sirs and Ma’am’s, I ask for your full attention.
You probably know of the Zombie Apocalypse that has begun. We need to pass legislation, and fast to preserve independence from the Fear of the Zombies Hordes. We bave the power of the Army, one of the most competent generals seen ever, the son of legendary MacArthur. We have the safety of isolation.

The plague arrived on our doorstep when it is believed that a British man hopped into a boat in London, and fled over to Norfolk, this beginning the plague.

So, we need to protect ourselves as much as we can.
First, we need to prevent immigration. To keep out anyone with the plague.
Second, we need to ban emigration. We need every man we can.
Third, we need to ban trade with every nation out there. Our economy can survive.
And that is all I ask.
So, can you please do this?”

Congress passed the “New Stonkopolis Survival Bill,” dubbed “The Anti-Zombie Bill.”

The East Coast outbreaks caused major panic across North America. Until then, the outbreaks had been small and contained and the Americans believed they were safe. However, now that the virus had taken a hold of a large group of people, the zombie virus could not be contained as easily.
But that isn't all. When news of the New Englander outbreaks reached the American household, widespread panic ensued. Previous containment procedures were now irrelevant as the common American was reduced to robbery, rape, and riot. Major cities such as Chicago, Atlanta, San Diego, and Seattle were now in flames, not because of the virus but because of mass panic.

But America did not just face rioting in cities. On the West Coast, thousands of zombified refugees from Asia swarm the beaches and coastal cities, consuming every living thing they encounter. A futile attempt in San Francisco to slow the spread resulted in the collapse of the Golden Gate Bridge, which was turned into a refugee camp where people would be airlifted out of the city. However, decades of weathering weakened the bridge, causing the tens of thousands of people packed on the bridge to be killed when the entire structure gave out under them.

Meanwhile, the order in Russia was given: a thermonuclear warhead was dropped on the Siberian Swarms, which disintegrated thereafter. During the nuclear blast, people facing the direction of the explosion reported that many reanimated corpses were flung when the shockwave reached them, resulting in a dim, dark ring receding away from the mushroom cloud at high speeds. However, this may have caused more problems than it solved: hundreds of miles around the center of the blast, remaining dust particles still carried the virus, infecting any who enter. Furthermore, hundreds of thousands of zombies were flung further into Europe, causing even more outbreaks to begin.

The Novayan Commonwealth fared better, however. How did this nation fare well? It was easy to know that sports/tournament courts, malls, supermalls, hotels, civilian ships, motels, plazas, and even some offshore platforms were used to help house the refugees. Citizen guard militias helped maintain watch to prevent any zombie infections. Of course, the tournament/sports courts, malls, supermalls, hotels, civilian ships, motels and offshore platforms would require refugees to sleep in the lounges, cafeterias, reception rooms, and even hallways and corridors. But bathrooms? Nah, that shit ain't worth it to smell the terrible smell AND destroy someone's privacy, y'all! That's really disgusting, y'all!

Cars, vans and buses were also used alongside trucks and sometimes planes to help the refugees sleep; said vehicles however mustn't cause traffic, by the way. Even airports, docks and shipyards would be home to refugees. Open fields, especially those up high in the highlands, and the mountains were also used to house the refugees, resulting in the creation of tent towns, villages and cities, which were temporary until prefab shelters were built; highlands and mountains, as well as any valleys and jungles, must be purged of all potential zombie threats. These prefab shelters will still have windows, but such windows would be either vision slits or even barred to prevent the zombies from entering or leaving. Regardless, the Chinese refugees would be taught how to actually kill zombies safely, simply just buy shooting them in the head with guns, cut the heads off from their bodies with blades, or even poke spears into the heads. For proper disposal the bodies must be burned, and the heads must be either speared or grabbed while using leather to protect the hands and arms before said heads get thrown into the pyres.

Many refugees would thought the Novayans to be utterly scared and superstitious, but what the Novayans did defy everything the refugees thought they would. Upon being asked about it, the Novayans made it extremely clear that they already know how to fight these monsters. Even before the Spaniards arrive, the pre-colonial Novayans had recognized that the only way to kill a zombie is to destroy the head or cut it off from the rest of the body. Even after the Spaniards colonized the Novayan archipelago, the Novayans had provided the Spanish colonizers ways of combating the undead; muskets were good, but also unreliable as they are single-shot unlike spears and swords. And even after the Germans and Americans took over, zombies were still kept at an all-time low.

In short, the refugees were told to adopt the typical Roman and later Novayan attitude toward the living dead: no fear, no superstition, just another problem requiring a practical solution. Oh, and the Novayans were great teachers, too! Even the tribal natives were asked to help teach the refugees the way of the zombie killers. Oh, and evacuation protocols were made to ensure the refugees were evacuated. Additional security measures were also prepared to ensure that the zombies don't come from anywhere. At the same time, forests and mountains were to be cleared of any zombies; any places that had even a single zombie must be cleared in order for the refugees to feel safe. Even unused mines and cave networks would be used once cleared of any and all zombies.

At the same time, Novayan divers and submersibles were sent to ascertain the locations of zombies underwater. Novayan Navy ships, especially submarines also contribute to the search for any zombies that were underwater. Novayan divers would be assisted by the Novayan Navy's Special Warfare Teams, and they all use underwater rifles to protect themselves from the zombies. Fortunately, they were given strict orders not to get up close within 5-10 meters of the zombies; they are only to take pictures and provide footage. If possible, their orders will be changed to begin eliminating the zombies before they ever become a majestic threat. The best way to engage the zombies underwater is to shoot them from at least 30-50 meters. They must only shoot with precise, controlled firing - that is, firing on the heads one at a time.

This way, the number of zombies that would come underwater would be lower, allowing the Novayan National Security Forces to respond strategically, tactically and operationally. Also, the ships and planes the refugees arrived with must also be cleared of any and all zombies. Those that were utterly filled with zombies must be cleared and the survivors evacuated.

Italy saw the cameras of other nations searching underwater for zombies and or creating a system of underwater laser buoies that send A type of beam down that can melt the ocean floor, piercing the water. The government has also issued gas masks so that the debris from nukes does not get in the noses and cause infections. As trade decreases, Italy sought to become self-sufficient, and created farms in the north and industrialized the south. This is a project that can take years. The lockdown is still in place.

With national collapse not seen some the 4 year government shutdown under Reagan, it was decided to create safe zones. The Safe Zones would be military bases, distant well guarded farms, and government buildings. Everything else was left for dead. Despite the best efforts, much of the Central United States had collapsed, as had significant portions of the West. The only saving grace was the stretch from Pennsylvania to Texas was safe.

The Siberian Swarm had been scattered far and wide across Eastern Europe and Asia. With the swarm gone, the remnants of the Russian military could easily defend against the stragglers coming in from Asia. However, the fallout from the nuke spread west, zombifying millions of Russians and Ukrainians. Now, Europe had to deal with another horde approaching their borders.
The remaining Russians fled North into Scandinavia, bringing the infection there. However, winter was now beginning to set in, and a particularly harsh blizzard swept across Europe, temporarily protecting them.

Meanwhile, refugees from Asia had arrived in Africa, causing outbreaks along the eastern coast. As many African countries had ongoing civil wars and poorly equipped militaries, Africa fell in succession. However, South Africa resisted. A clever plan designed by (the one and only) Paul Redeker allowed South Africa to survive the swarms coming in from the north. Following the success of the Redeker Plan, information detailing the specifics of the plan is sent to all surviving nations.

The Novayan government, learning of the situation at Africa, began deploying three marine brigades as well as four armored cavalry regiments and three airborne (helicopter infantry) brigades which would be transported by air and sea. These military units were tasked with clearing the zombies as well as provide safe zones for the refugees. To increase the success rates, the Novayan Special Operations Command deployed seven to ten special forces groups to clear out any zombies which might linger; they would be backed by the 4th and 5th Novayan Naval Fleets, sent to ensure that no refugee ships have zombies, and that any remaining survivors onboard the zombie-infested refugee ships were rescued. Additionally, the Novayan government would send military advisors and equipment to South Africa to train the peoples there on how to actually kill zombies while suffering few casualties.

Meanwhile, the Novayan Space Agency was directed to collaborate with aerospace companies and corporations to construct a small SSTO (single-stage-to-orbit) spaceplane and/or a reusable launch vehicle necessary to transport a team to and from the International Space Station. It wasn't really easy but not that hard, since they know how space vehicles were made; if anything, it's gonna be a slow walk in the park.
