Three dozen planes and four of the twelve transports are shot down. 9,850 troops make it to the ground uninjured, but find themselves severely outnumbered and are forced to assume a defensive position. However, their weapons and protection are superior, so the Empire suffers more casualties. The largest frigate fires kinetic weapons and missiles at the anti-air defenses, damaging most of them. Another dozen or so transports are launched while fighter craft divebomb the guards. EMP weapons are hit by frigate-mounted point defense systems and are mostly ineffective at hitting anything of value.
