It seemed to be a normal day for the 100 million people of Golyna. As Fall Equinox approached, many prepared to decorate their homes and apartments by shopping at holiday markets across the country. "It was just a normal day" said longshoreman Daron Whistler of Newport. But others were not planning on a normal day. Across the country, many domestic terrorists planned on taking as many lives a possible just before the grand day of independence of the Great Stalarin Republic. One of their targets was a holiday market in Newport, the same market where Whistler was shopping at. At 3:30 local time, a bomb went off in the market, killing one and injuring dozens. Soon after, the words "Les esprits sont avec nous!"(the spirits are with us in French) were heard in the market, followed by nine gunshots. Along with a sniper in a nearby bell tower armed with an SKS, there were three other shooters armed with AK-47s who entered the market, shooting at anyone. "Once the bomb went off, I thought I was gonna die" Whistler said in an interview, "I didn't think they'd shoot though. I saw Boston and thought that's what would happen". in total, 33 people died in that market, and another 102, including Whistler, were injured. Many other attacks across western Golyna were carried out on markets just like this. just hours after the attack, a terrifying video would be published on Youtube(the video was soon taken down) in which the radical Stalarinist of Eastlake declared the "Great Stalarin Republic" an independent nation and declaring war against the "evil nation of infidels known as Golyna". The Golynan Defense Force has dispatched military force to fully regain control of Eastlake, placing the entire province under martial law. The rest of the country is under "Federal High Alert Status", meaning police checkpoints, banning the carry of any firearm in public, and constant police and military presence. It is unclear when this conflict will end.

The government of Aristoria sends it deepest condolences to the victims of the Holiday Market Attacks in Golyna. The senseless violence committed by Stalarinist extremists is reprehensible and we stand united with the people of Golyna. Terror and homicide is not the path forward for political and economic rights.

To that effect, the Stalarinist independence movement has been labelled a terrorist organization by Aristora. Assets in Aristoria belonging to known Stalarinist leaders have been frozen. The Aristorian Security and Communications Agency (ASCA) is now devoting resources to signals intelligence in Eastlake with the hopes of picking up valuable intel.

We are also reaching out to the government of Golyna and offering assistance with emergency medical supplies and transportation, if need be. We will also be sharing information we have so far about Stalarinist operatives active within Aristoria in the hopes that their social, political, and communication networks lead to a number of arrests.

Aristoria is advising all citizens and permanent residents staying in or visiting Golyna to exercise caution. Those currently in Eastlake Province are encouraged to leave immediately. Extra flights out of the area will be arranged.

The Golynan Defense Force (GDF) has made great gains today against the Radical Stalarinists by capturing the port district of Riverside, the only large scale port in the Eastlake Province. Another major victory was achieved, this time on the high seas, when the Golynan Coast Guard seized a boatload (see what I did there?) of weapons. A 32 foot sport boat attempted to violate the blockade of Eastlake and was pursued by a Coast Guard lifeboat. The chase ended after a coastgaurdsman fire a 12 gauge shotgun slug into the outboard motor of the vessel. Nine people were arrested for the chase and the vessel, the weapons, and other miscellaneous goods were seized and impounded. However, the war is far from perfect for Golyna. Fort Willard, home of the 33rd Cavalry Division, is under siege. There have been high casualties during the surrounding skirmishes. Information about the siege is highly controlled.

Hostage crisis update

The Hostage crisis in Port Wilcox started off like a normal fall day. However, as Alex Darrowson, a politician opposed to radical Stalarinism, was visiting the Port WIlcox Holiday market, The Stalarinists struck. A shooting followed by an armed unit taking Darrowson to a bar and holding him hostage. 15 minutes after the hostage takers entry, all the workers and patrons were released. Soon after, the police and military set up a perimeter around the bar. The military send in negotiators and set up a telephone line into the bar. For four hours, no updates were provided. The situation was under control by the morning, however Darrowson is still in the custody of the hostage takers. Plans for forced entry are unknown at the time.
