You have a beautiful country, with, if I might add, equally beautiful food and drink. The weather could certainly be better, but it is summer, not much can be done about that. Regardless, I look forward to seeing our Third Company in action. We are a people very proud of our military, and our parade troops represent generations of tradition and quality..."

Before the ambassador could begin a longwinded spiel about the Asuckian military, one of the Junior Ambassadors tapped him on the shoulder and whispered something in his ear. Ailtrain's eyes widened just a bit and he jolted up. "Of course! How could I forget," he exclaimed, half to the other Asuckian and half to the king. Turning his attention fully towards the king, he continued. "The Asuckian government has seen fit to send us with a gift for His Majesty. I think you'll enjoy it very much." The leader of the delegation motioned to the others, who brought forth a wooden display box.

The box was made with a great degree of craftsmanship; the wood had been sanded down to the point where it was soft and smooth to the touch, the glass face was solid and comfortably set, and the inside was lined with cushioned red cloth. Inside was a bolt action rifle. Its barrel and Mauser-style action had been polished to be nearly reflective, and the wooden furniture had been treated with oil for a smooth, shiny finish. A rectangular brass plate on the buttstock read "Presented to His Royal Majesty David Kashat II, King of Nachmere, in the Year of our Lord 2022 in celebration of his 25 years of faithful leadership"

Having completed his task, Ailtrain smiled once more and spoke to the king again. "It's been a pleasure meeting you. I hope to speak more about our countries, food, and a great deal of other things in the future, but right now," he swiveled his head to look around at the diverse group of ambassadors and delegates from nations across the world, "I'd like to introduce myself to some of the others while we're all still together. Might not be able to find any of these folks again once the parade starts."

"This is an exquisite looking rifle. I am very happy to receive a weapon from you, it is a sign of true friendship. I have my own gift for you but for logistics purposes it was a bit unfeasible to bring gifts for so many delegates to the parade grounds. I can hardly wait for the reception, and I am sure the food and drink will be to your liking! Now enjoy the parade and try not to work too hard..."

Lauzanne wrote:Nataliya Vantcheva had one leg crossed over the other, tapping her foot in time to an imaginary tune as the vehicle moved past a crowd of people towards the venue.
"Certainly beats my earlier assignment." Nataliya commented to the other passenger, Mister Illiesci.
"Well, I suppose working with your organisation has it's ups and downs. Remember, no fooling around."
"No fooling around, no snooping. Turn up for the nice party, watch the parade, check out some boats, leave." Nataliya replied, the vehicle coming to a halt as the pair left the black sedan.

Vasya Illiesci was a man of middle age and fair skin, dressed in an impeccable navy blue suit with a golden tie, his sense of dress as sharp as his features as he stood a full head above the lady accompanying him for the day. As if to contrast him, Nataliya was dressed in a soldier's attire, the breast of her green dress shirt adorned with two medals. On her shoulders were a single gold star, indicative of her rank as a Maior. The pants she wore were blue, a striking piece of attire with a white stripe down the side. She donned her large peaked cap when she left the vehicle, moving up to greet the King before the other vehicle arrived. The pair were the first to approach the King after the others had left, Nataliya saluting the man first, followed by Illiesci offering a hand to shake with both the King and Queen.
"Greetings, King David. This is my company for the day, Maior Vantcheva. How have you been on this fine day?"

The King smiled an amused and friendly smile. After half an hour of polished diplomats using correct language, the direct (if somewhat brash) address of "King David" was endearing. Not every country had a tradition of monarchy, and the King could tell from the tone and expression no offense was meant. Lauzanne and Nachmere had good economic ties at the highest levels of the military industrial complex after all.

" Mister...Illiesci! How nice to meet you! And Major Vantecheva, you as well. Did you know we will be parading the Sea Guardian system today? My Admirals are quite pleased with it, the Prime Minister told me they intend to order more, perhaps even the Army...In any case such things can be discussed with you by people more in the know than I. Please enjoy your stay in Nachmere."

Imperial Haiti wrote:"No problem, says the Emperor, me neither. Yes, I get the thing, it is nice to see how everything has evolved from feudalism to busniess, isn't it? I will, with much pleasure, will you please go hunting with me, my lady? Yeah, I agree, shooting animals just for fun is something barbaric in my opinion. Now, changing topics, as you already know, there is a reception after the parade, so, would you please be so kind so to attend it with me? I really enjoy your company, and your beauty iluminates my day, and I would love to dance with you, says the emperor, kissing her hand again"

Aziza was not actually invited to the reception. Actually her mother was supposed to go with her father. But hey, why not? She has only been to the rose palace half a dozen times her whole life, and going as the date for an emperor seemed like an interesting time.
"His Majesty I will be happy to accompany you, certainly."

Great!-says the emperor in a cheerful way, so now, could you tell me a bit about yourself? He can't stop looking at her, it has really been, at least for him, love at first sight, however, he thinks he must behave himself like an emperor, and while he keeps greeting other arrivals and looking at the parade units ready to go, he thinks, however, that being used to hear people talking about him because politics or economy, it will be a nice change for him to hear people talking about him due to something that could make him as happy as he has ever been in life. Then, he looks to Aziza again and tells her, if you ever become my empress, will you be agree with having to choose a royal name, which by the way, would have to be in French, due to it being one of our two official language and the language of the Imperial Court and the elite/educated people? You, on the other hand, will have to learn Haitian Creole too, because even if people knows French and speaks its fluently, Haitian Creole, which is based on French, is the most spoken first language.

"Well certainly one can not expect to be an Empress of a nation and not speak the native languages. My French is not so fluent right now but if I need to I am sure I can greatly improve it over time."

OOC: @all I suggest we proceed with the parade this evening or tomorrow.

Agree, can I post about the parade already on evening?

RP: Good, otherwise my subjects will get angry, he says, and with reasons. So, my lady, as a token of my interest in you, let me gift you this pure gold necklace with pearls and diamonds. It will fit well to you and enhance your already heavenly beauty, says, while giving him a big and expensive necklace with pearls from the sea topped in a small, pure gold christian cross. Will you please make me happy and wear it?

As King Dough made his way to meet the Janpians and Joyeans, the Nachmerean King happily turned to discuss the Bornian Battleship with Admiral Roland.

"Admiral it is a pleasure to meet you! Tell me a bit about this KBS Hope of yours, if you will? My Admirals decided to put our old battleships in mothballs, so our largest surface combatants are destroyers."

"Your Majesty, it is good meeting you. Well, The KBS Hope is the First ever Domestically Produced and Designed Battleship of our Country. It is the Kordan-Class Battleship, it has survived many battles and even sunk multiple enemy ships. It has both Naval Guns of which is 9 naval gunson 3 turrets, which each turret having 3 naval guns and Missile Launching Capabilities capable of launching ICBMs so it is quite flexible as it can do both long and short range battles. It has Torpedoes on both sides of the ships and Radar and Sonar packed together. It also has 18 CIWS put in strategic places to provide maximum protection against Aircrafts, Helicopters or Missiles. It is designed to look like a WW2 Battleship so from a far it would look like an outdated WW2 Battleship which is easy to sunk by just firing a missile. One of our main strategy is to use on this design to trick the enemy to fire their missiles so that we can pin point their position as the CIWS destroyed the missile. The Ship is manned by 2200 or so seaman, while also have a top speed of 32.6 Knots thanks to our powerful engines. Armor of the Battleship is thick and can get from 340-400 mm of protection on the hull. Yes the whole hull, while the deck gets 160mm protection. The reason our ship does not sink from over weight is that, it is made from alloys that are light and strong. It also have a small enclosed hanger on the back of the ship capable of holding 2 helicopters and 4 UAVs.” said Admiral Roland as he drinks a sip of wine before continuing

“Perhaps you would like this battleship? Or our bigger Zipan-Class Battleship? I heard that you can also take one of those ships heavily in the Royal Warehouse” continued Admiral Roland

Admiral Roland then leans near King David Kashat before speaking “Don't tell anyone but, you can really get a Ship of any class in the Royal Warehouse, but just one of them though and only in the First Royal Warehouse. To see which warehouse you chave access to, just look at what number the key is, number 1 can open all warehouse while higher number can open those warehouse of the same or higher number. All of this came from the King, don't tell him please.”

Rep. Ulyaka:"The Party tasked us to attend the Nachmerean Jubillee celebration. Though I'd like to see you all in your best formation, and enjoy yourselves. Remember, we represent Janpia and the Party."

Though in Ulyaka's mind, he kept questioning himself, why did the Party sent him to a monarchial celebration? Perhaps for formalities, or maybe new ties? Nevertheless, it is the people's will that got him there.

"As perhaps, maybe to meet other guest?"

He thought to himself. Looking ahead, he kept a good posture, and a decent manner, since afterall, he is the leader of the Janpian delegation.

Representative Ulyaka was not the only delegate from a nation with strong anti-monarchy ideologies, and the King of Nachmere was highly aware of the strange mix of countries Nachmere befriended. A lot of it was down to trade, Nachmere's arms trade made her a valuable friend, and of course, his people were highly dependent on this trade for their prosperity. It was his role as monarch to try and keep good relations with all nations, for the sake of peace and trade. He personally, like many Nachmereans found socialism in its various forms an ugly ideology - but also like many Nachmereans believed firmly that each nation has a right to pick its path.

The king approached Ulyaka with a friendly smile, offered his hand and greeted the Janpian:
"Representative Ulyaka, welcome to Nachmere. I hope this visit is both useful and enjoyable." |

-My lady, I love middle eastern food! I hope I can taste it here and you can tell me more about it!-says Charles I Legrand. Whatever hobbies you have will be no problem, because as an empress, no one can tell you how to spend your free time or not. Also, who says that hunting is not a lady-like hobby? It is quite popular among the British Royal Family, for example. On the other hand, do you just like horseriding or you do artistic equitation like in the Olympic Games? I have never hunted, but I love olympic shooting, it is an extremely precise sport. On the other hand. It is strict, but not tiring. 8 hours a day, from Monday to Friday. The work is as decentralized as possible so everyone can enjoy their days off and holidays. In case the heat is too much for you, you just can head to any of our beaches and sunbath or take a bath in the sea. As an Empress, your duties will be to accompany me to all the official acts, to visit places by yourself like schools or hospitals and indeed, if I am not avaliable, to receive foreign monarchs and dignataries, however, do not fear, if they are just kings, queens, or princes and princesses, they will have to do a genuflexion to you, or to show their respects, anyway. Does that make you blush?-says Charles I Legrand, seeing that Aziza has a nervous smile in her face.

"Oh I am not nearly that talented a rider. We own a large estate, a rural one you see? So father and I...And my brother before he joined the military...We ride horses around and visit the farmers that live on the estate - a far cry from meeting royalty! But we depend on each other, us and the farmers. In the old days they relied on my ancestors for protection and they relied on them for tax income. Now its a far more business like relationship of course...You should come visit us and hunt some ducks. We only hunt what we intend to eat or give our farmers to eat...It's not quite as precise as target shooting, but it requires - I believe - a similar level of patience and control. It took me ages to learn to hit them in flight, and it's poor form and sportsmanship to shoot them on the ground!"

Rep. Ulyaka takes a respectful bow, warmingly grabbed his hands for a handshake. and smilingly answered the King,

Rep. Ulyaka:"Indeed your majesty! Our visit to Nachmere is indeed enjoyable"

Though of course, in his trip as a delegate, he was always taught that he must be honest on such occassion. Nearly forgetting the gift, he tapped one of his fellow delegates, and handed out an intricate box, with a carved gold tree sticking out of the lid

Rep. Ulyaka:"Your majesty, we are pleased to present to you this gift- a wonderful box of chocolates, made from the finest and rarest cocoa tree only found in the Chikali mountain range. The tree on top of the box is a matured Janpian maple tree, with carats of gold on it. We hope that you will accept it"

He holds the box with his two hands, reaching it out to the King. The box is colored in red and gold, filled with symbols of Katyechinci regional locality, which is the chocolate's origins.

Long live the Janpian Union of Revolutionary States!

ooc: lets move this along, continued chit chat and romancing (looking at you haiti) can happen at the reception or naval review. please only post stuff regarding the parade itself (reactions, extra descriptions, etc...and then we move forward. Sorry for being somewhat of DM on this but it is needed due to the ammount of players on thread)

After the King greeted and chatted with the guests for a while, the announcer's voice boomed on loudspeakers near the grandstands and along Palace Avenue. The King took his seat, followed by the other VIPs.

"Dear guests from around the world, citizens of Nachmere, we are gathered along Palace Avenue in Nachmeriya, the old capital of Nachmere, to honor His Royal Majesty King David Kashat, King and Defender of Nachmere, on this - his 25th year of reign!"

The crowd cheered and waved flags.

"General Bazak, the Chief of Staff of the Royal Army, will command a parade of Nachmerean and foreign troops, as they march past and salute His Royal Majesty and the other dignitaries"

General Bazak approached the seated King, who stood up, and gave a sharp salute. His voice now also sounded on the speakers, thanks to a microphone attached to his lapel.

"His Royal Majesty, your Own Horse Guards are ready to lead the troops, to offer their salute and be inspected!"

The king saluted back.

"I am ready to inspect the troops General, please march them through"

The parade was an impressive affair. It began, as mentioned, with the King's Own Horse Guards. Riding on white horses and wearing their 19th century style blue uniforms and chest armor, 50 they presented their sabers as they passed infront of the king. The spectacle was enhanced by the following foreign cavalry, and the street trembled as Nachmerean heavy armor rolled by, flags flying on antennas, the tank commanders exposed from the waste up. The missile launchers of the Sea Guardian system were quite an attraction for the media and crowd, as this system was made in Lauzanne rather than Nachmere and only recently entered service.

The Parliament Guards, wearing their 19th century style uniforms and armed with older style, wood furniture ARI-72 rifles, led the foot element of the parade, leading a dumbfounding array of Nachmerean and foreign units the like of which Nachmeriya has not seen in decades. The crowd was ecstatic and only cheered more as the Slacarian, Alfordsherian and Nachmerean aerial units flew over and performed aerobatics. Last to parade were the teenage cadets of the military boarding school, somewhat smaller statured compared to all the adult soldiers marching before them, but their faces beaming with pride as their commanding officer saluted the king and their heads turned right towards the stands. The army band then followed them, playing the farewell march.

The Emperor is impressed with the parade, specially with the parliament guards, their 19th century stile uniforms and the older rifles look dashing, so brilliant that if it was not because their shape is evidently old, they would seem new. Also, the Emperor seems particularly interested about their marching style, and therefore asks Aziza and her father:

-Is the drill and the marching style of this army based on Prussian ones? You know, the parliament guards look so, specially because they have an excellent coordination. I wonder if I shall make my soldiers to put a bit more of effort on parading, because they are a quite effective army, but we have an extremely practical approach so we usually do not parade, but, I have to admit a proper military parade is one of the most beautiful displays of discipline and precision one can see.

After that, the Emperor asks those present if Nachmeriya sells motor material to other countries, because the motorized divisions seem of good quality too.

PS: If you want, it is not necessary to RP the whole romance thing and we can just announce a compromise after all of this has ended and several fictional months have passed, if you are OK with it.

Sit Khuri was far more knowledgeable on military issues than Aziza, and was happy to answer:
"His Imperial Majesty, the Parliament guards and King's guards spend a lot of time parading, which is why they look so sharp. The other units usually don't really parade this well, but because this has been planned for a year now they managed to get them to this level. Personally though I love a good parade, I have to say when I was an officer I hated the parade drills because they truly waste time that could be spent on training for combat. As for the vehicles, indeed Nachmere exports them! Those are WUAP series vehicles. Very handy things they are! All logistics shared in the family! In my time we had so many different vehicle types just sorting the spare parts was a hassle."

ooc: Oh i don't mind RPing the romance Im just amused because i never have before. Unless someone has anything left for this I may speed forward to the dinner? Because i think the naval review is much the same as this?

His Imperial Majesty thanks Sir Khuri for the explanations and mentally writes all of what he has said, and after that, tells Sir Khuri that he would like to discuss with the king about the sale of some WUAP vehicles to his Empire.

Ooc: Yeah, let's dine.

"His Majesty I will be happy to accompany you, certainly."

Vasya nodded his head, continuing to smile even as Nataliya's own turned into a smirk.
"I was somewhat aware, it was a point of pride for many that we co-operated to make such a system. I will definitely enjoy my stay."
As the pair moved off to allow the King to see others, Vasya looked at Nataliya, a little confused.
"What's got you so smug?"
"I thought a diplomat would know that your highness is the preferred term." Nataliya commented, causing Vasya to scrunch his eyes shut.
"Gods damnit..." Vasya cursed, while Nataliya chuckled
"It's fine, he laughed it off. Let's go sit down, Your Highness."

Nataliya watched intently at the parade going by, smiling as the LDF soldiers marched past. The unit colours depicting a leaping panther blew in the wind, escorted by two soldiers up front grasping swords in their hands. The rest of the soldiers followed, jackboots hitting the ground in synchronisation as their heads turned to face the King in salute. The officers brought their swords up, and Nataliya was impressed. As good a performance as the 40th anniversary independence day parade.

She also noted the planes flying over being very familiar due to her colleague talking about them a lot. Known here as the "Lavi" and "Patish", they were Lauzannean birds, unmistakable in their design and lines. She smiled even more, knowing she has new ammunition to tease her friend with.

Once the parade was over, it was time for the reception. Vasya was no doubt talking to more civil personnel, but Nataliya thought of a new strategy. Seeing a Nachmerean air force officer, she closed in, friendly smile.
"Greetings, I was wondering if I could ask a question or two?"

The Allanean parade box was modest in its own way – a single group of Airborne Infantry officer cadets, by tradition their parade uniform was merely a cleaner, more pressed variant of their dress uniform, moss-green camouflage with the shirt unbuttoned, the blue stripes of their telnyashkas standing out against the green. Their berets were cocked slightly, and the bayonets on their carbines gleamed in silvery chrome.

Doubtless the young cadets were suffering – the heat was punishing, and even the men and women watching the parade were discomfited, much less the men and women marching down the parade ground. Nevertheless, they gave good show, their feet rising and descending in unison, their knees almost entirely straight as they marched. A tropical uniform could have been issued, but it was decided that it would be almost silly to issue one for what amounted for a brisk, short walk.

Watching from among the crowd, King Alexander and Prince Rudolph almost envied the cadets – they at least were marching with purpose rather than milling about in a crowd, and of course they had light uniforms, rather than the royal red and gold, or the black-and-silver dolmen of the Life Guard Hussars!

They had seen many military units come and go, and as they did King Alexander whispered side comments to Rudolph – those were the Nachmereans, expertly and brave, over there – the Strolisandilers, whose Queen has bested a slavelord in valiant sword duel, over there the Joyeans, honest trade partners of Allanea, and there went the Royal Haijing Regiment of Hintuwan, where Allaneans recently started building a bridge.

And so, the parade ended, and from there Alexander and Rudolph went on to the task, that, to be absolutely honest, Rudolph disliked the most, the mingling. Alexander went about it with practiced ease, shaking hands, introducing Rudolph to this or that VIP, “Good day – very much a lovely performance by that aerobatics team – exceptional – those Lakan Hussars are really something, do you think we could get some of those horses or is that a secret Lakan breed – pleased to meet you as well, madam…”

Chairman Goodchild and the remainder of the delegation began watching the parade. Watching each unit march by in there countries own unique way. They saw hundreds of troops march by until the Joyean Honor Guards goose stepped there way down the parade field. There uniforms were impeccable everything down to the smallest detail was perfect, every medal was straightened, every molecule of dust removed. There rifles and attached bayonets shined as they were held in front of them. Justice Ford placed a cigarillo into his mouth and lit it as the Joyeans marched down the parade field and into the distance. The whole delegation had been commenting on the foreign and Joyean troops with mostly pleasant statements as there were no real complaints, aside from the sweltering heat.

"—Oh look, Darin, those must be the Allaneans! Very stern and disciplined as always," Lakan Lontok remarked to his Foreign Minister. "As they should be - theirs is the most battle-hardened nation in this whole parade. We ought to make our presence known to them at some point."

"As you command, your Majesty, I'll put in a good word for you later."

The Lakan looked upon King Alexander and his soldiers with more envy than he did other countries. While the current Hintuwani government did not share all of Allanea's ideological principles, there were a great many men whose opinions the Lakan deeply respected that believed Hintuwan should pursue a similar course in economics, politics, and foreign policy. And regardless of whether such men are correct, in the Lakan's mind, Allanea has definitely prospered because of them.

The Royal Haijing Regiment did not have the flamboyance or colorful decoration that other armies boasted - instead exalting the style of citizens-at-arms. They wore a tightly-fit grey uniform with few medals (if any) and presented, as their weapons, FN FALs from almost half a century ago. Rather than berets or feathered caps, the heads of the Hintuwani soldiers donned farmer's straw hats folded into the shape of bicornes: a good 'ol fashioned tradition adopted during the days of the civil war that reminisces the Commonwealth Army's guerilla origins.

ooc: we proceed to the reception dinner. please continue the mingling there.

The Rose Palace, Nachmere City

In the past, before Nachmere City was built, the monarchs of Nachmere ruled from Nachmeriya. Following the civil war and the signing of the constitution, the kings of the land wanted a new, more modern, more modest capital, to reflect their new relationship with the nobles and the common people. No longer were they absolute rulers living lavishly (well, at least not too lavishly). The Rose Palace was a rather simple palace built with this mindset. The rectangular white building was by no means humble, being quite large and well furnished, but it was nothing compared to the old palaces in Nachmeriya. The front of the building faced a huge garden with decorative pools and many roses of different colors. Not all were blooming currently, due to the time of year.

As the foreign and local dignitaries walked the main path of the garden they entered the palace from the main entrance, a pair of large metal doors each decorated with golden Nachmerean lion figures. Inside the main hall the seating arrangement was a combination of Nachmerean tradition and concessions to practicality. The foreign delegation heads and the Nachmerean prime minister and generals were seated in a large table with the king at the head. Other guests were seated in smaller tables around the hall. Each delegation was greeted by a Royal Guard, who would escort them to be greeted by the King and Queen, where the king presented them with arms. The arms were presented in their display box held by Royal Guards.

Image

After meeting the King the guests had time to mingle as music was played and aperitifs were served by waiters carrying trays. The sparkling wine or Arak were meant to start up one's appetite, and small Amuse-bouche dishes were paired with them - Stuffed Grape Leaves, Falafel, Olives in oil and spices and Grilled Halloumi. This was just a start of the evenings menu which was designed to interduce the guests to the finest Nachmerean cuisine, with a touch of modern interpretations.

As in the parade, the Nachmerean nobles were in their finest clothes, many choosing to wear dress uniforms. It was a rare exception for a Nachmerean nobleman to no hold some sort of commission (at least in the militia) but those who did not wore suits. Standing out were some of the more traditional clan leaders, wearing their traditional robes and white kufiyahs with gold akals, and sporting curved Arab swords or Shibriyah's rather than the more in fashion straight bladed sabers. The women nearly all wore dresses, but of course it was not unheard of for a noble woman to hold commission, and several ladies chose to wear their dress uniforms and arms.

The Emperor of Imperial Haiti, Charles I Legrand, offers his arm to Aziza Khuri, and she takes with a stunning smile. And both of them enter the reception dinner together. She, as most other women there, wears a dress, a passion red night dress with cleavage both at front and at back. Both of them thank the waiters and waitresses for their service and, after drinking the offered wine and eating a bit of everything, they are the first ones to dance. The Emperor puts his right hand in her waist and they start to dance a tango.

"The world could just end and I will not care if could keep dancing with you, with one hand on your waist and the other holding your other hand"-says the Emperor.

Aziza looks pleased but brings a finger to her lips saying "shhhhhhh": Don't say anything, just hold me close. I think we may have lots, lots of time to tell each other this kind of things-says Aziza.

"Reminds me of the Chalet Rojo," Lakan Lontok whispered to Minister Sariwa.

"Ah, but they do not have the pool out front, your Majesty," the Minister responded.

The Hintuwani delegation took a seat at the table that had been assigned for them. The Lakan, who was quite fond of alcoholic beverages, began drinking as soon as they were served but the Minister reminded him to preserve his temperance as they had more schmoozing to do with the other delegates.

The Emperor of Imperial Haiti Charles I Legrand asks the Hintuwanese delegates if they know anything about party hoster, the King of Nachmere, and he starts to worry about somethinhg happening to him because he has not seen it since the beginning of the reception.

PS: Edited. After personal talkings with the King of Nachmere and Aziza, the Emperor Charles I Le Grand of Haiti has asked for the hand of Lady Aziza Khuri, to which she has said yes, and they are therefore engaged and later, married. All of that while Imperial Haiti starts to become a democracy again.
