Hal quickly nodded, and led the group past the head researcher and his assistant. As they continued, the smell of fresh air, including the smell of fresh rain, became stronger. The hallways were mostly empty, with occasionally a doktor hurrying past with the distinctive red and black pin attached to their coats. Even more rarely, a Legionnare would walk by, EPEP rifle's at the ready and shoulder-armor emblazoned with paint identifying them as coming from the 3rd Legion, Delta Battlegroup, 23rd squad, and in a variety of units, from A to Z.

Reeder laughed. "I wouldn't doubt if you had a watch that read that, Sir Nigel," he said, as Hal motioned the over. They passed by a corner....and could see the loading bay.

The door was open, exposing the outside of New Amerik and revealing the source of the fresh air. Sillouhetted against the night sky were three cages grouped together, and one off on it's own. " ring of Legionnaires ringed the cages, and dark figures could be seen lurching inside, sticking their hands out the bars and trying to grasp their wardeners fruitlessly.

A doktor wearing the familiar pin on his coat hurried over. "Ah, yes, that individual species does not, apparently, wish to play nice with the normal infectees.....you've met Dr. Wesker already, correct?"

There was movement inside as the exposed brain and red flesh of some massive beast appeared screaming at Nigel. A long, saliva dripped tongue reached out fast as a whip and snapped around his head, drawing him closer to the bars.

The soldiers all had their weapons raised now, at the cage.

The tongue writhed like a snake caught in the jaws of a lion, then with a slimy wriggle slipped out of Zoe's hands and plunged it's barbed end through her mouth, not injuring her in any way but making a dreadful mess of things. It pulled her down, towards Nigel, and rewrapped itself around him, trying to shove his face into it's maw, teeth gleaming as they scissored wildly.

Hal had raised his rifle also, and an officer was saying, "Upon my word, fire at at will."

Zoe Nodded and Her hands began To Crackle With Electricity, She Discharged the High Voltage into the Tounge

The tongue writhed in pain as the thing ran forward, throwing it's considerable bulk against the cage as the Officer shouted, "Fire!"

Immediately, eleven bolts of green EPEP energy zipped towards the two people and the cage, fairly cracklying and burbling as it flew. A second volley was launched soon after.

When the bolt of EPEP energy hit Nigel's face, the sheer heat of it blasted most of it off. The tongue danced as it avoided this new boiling hot spot as his blood began to rise as steam from evaporation. Meanwhile, it continued eating through, leaving almost a third of his head gone.

The soldiers did not hesitate at this, as they fired again. And again. And again. All at the general commotion, though hopefully at the Licker.
