The Emperor spoke before Reeder, "A pawnshop. By an old man. I'd bought from him before, and this was another aquisition."

He looked around the darkness, at the experiments surrounding the group. "Doktors....bunch of loonies, they are."

"If that made even less sense then how about this why do people here see and others not from here cannot. Don't say denial cause some people can't denial even when they want to." Iris said hopefully making it easier to understand.

In the Kipperite nation, they have dog-people, cat-people, and others, yes? So do you. However, we don't. It is a possibility that instead of them becoming accepted like in our universe, their anscestors were feared or hunted and so they instead evolved ways to disguise themselves, or our human ansectors couldn't handle it and evolved ways to hide them from our sight. Thus, they evolve seperately than in your universes, and become different from what they might have been. That work?"

"May plan something herself for you three along with Iris' mother's help." Kali said
"Thanks for the heads up." Mikan sub-vocalized ending the conversation

Vasquail laughed ruefully, "Why, the King in Black. A leader....but a leader even when being one requires doing terrible things to ensure the survival of your followers. As for the story...I will tell. It was about 2013 or so, and Tabitha and I were attempting to stop the fated Apocalypse from happening. Aside from a variety of other factors, at one point Tabitha....she was killed. I could do nothing. I was powerless....so I fought on, trying to save the world even at my lowest. Then.....

...It was one of the Five Riders: Death, War, Famine, Plague, and Terror. I had bested the other four, with tons of help from every person or being I had ever met, and it was the final one needed to stop the Apocalypse. Do you know what it is like, seeing the physical representation of Death in this world? It was fucking terrifying. All the sadness, all the entropy, all the knowledge that things end, that there is almost nothing in this universe that can reverse or prevent Death from eventually taking it's due......there is nothing like it. You see everyone you have ever known, friends, enemies, even people you just saw occasionally, everyone who has died behind it. I faced it down. I saw Tabitha, behind that monstrosity, with it's skull, it's two large scythes, it's hood with the alpha and the omega.....and I stood. In that instant, I defied Death. I defied the end of everything, I defied mortality, I defied death! And I.....I was foolish. I was in the grip of loos from Tabitha, and I was in my youthful foolishness determined that by fighting this avatar of Death I could get her back. And I did....but it was horrible.

It was skilled at hurt and pain. It had learned from every creature, every thing, every atom that had been involved in causing the end to another atom. I was broken, physically, mentally, and psychologically. Even now I cannot remember exactly what happened, only that when I remembered fully waking up I was in a hospital bed, Frank was hovering over me, and Tabitha had buried her head against me. Other's were there too, but..... I had stopped the End. I know not how, or why I am still alive. I should not, I reckon, have won that fight. Nonetheless, I walked eventually back to where the fight had been, alone. I remember walking there, and then seeing it....a glimmer of steel in the grass. I took a closer look, and found the scythe. And after getting some friends, I carried it back....and it stays with me to this day."

"If they do, then that other scythe would be still firmly attached to Death's hands. I don't know why it was left, but I prefer to think of it as a trophy gained in battle. Now, I merely wait for Chazicaria to answer and then I should go."

Reeder said, "Damn, we might be here a while."

They had already started as they waited for the wayward people to catch up. Already Brant was winning this time. How long they would play would be determined by how long it takes before the others catch up.

"Playing go fish caused the house to smell like smoke. Sound like those cards don't like to be used wrong. Nah, probably not." Iris said while place her carded down.
