Quest For The Black Keys (OOC/Signups, FanT)

Okay, I want to do something a little different. A mod can move this to Portal To The Multiverse if it’s TOO character driven, but it’s technically an IC thread as characters from our nations. The different part? I want to focus only on one or two characters per nation. Sort of an assembly of everyone’s mightiest heroes... a fellowship of the ring, if you will. Once we have a good dozen or so characters (plus villains provided by me and my puppet The Spiders From Mars) I’ll launch the IC thread.

Story: The Black Keys are keys made from an unknown, jet black metal. They have the power to open gateways to other universes, basically turning whoever is in possession of one into a Planeswalker (but without the immortality). This power can be dangerous in the wrong hands, so The Rhythm Nation’s Planeswalker Wang Chung has been trying to track them down (and is now enlisting heroes from other nations to help). So basically this is an archaeological quest, hunting dangerous artifacts. The secret society based out of The Rhythm Nation, the Union Of The Snake, wants the Keys for themselves and will be pursuing our characters, trying to thwart them usually through subterfuge but occasionally engaging in combat with them. The Spiders From Mars will be harassing the group simply because they deployed from The Rhythm Nation. As we visit different nations searching for artifacts other enemies might present themselves (feel free to throw in stuff from your nation, especially if it’s a little bit spooky).

Introduce your character when you sign up. For example:

Name: Wang Chung
Race/species: Human/Asian
Accomplishments (a brief resume of what qualifies them to be a hero): Slew King Jeremy The Wicked; defeated The Crimson King; defeated the Union Of The Snake twice and the Wu-Tang Clan once; has already found one of the Black Keys.
Special abilities: Immortality, planeswalking, magic, ninjutsu
Equipment: enchanted katana; enchanted shurikens that return after being thrown; smoke grenades; Black Key (may be needed to find the others, no guarantee they’re in this universe)

What’s everyone think? Is FanT NS up for an epic adventure?

Makes sense, considering her royal status it stands to reason she’d have protection.

After a talk with the OP, I'm going to apply to this with a non-heroic character. I'd like to ask publicly if it would be okay if it would be okay if my character was allowed to have a small warband with him (say 50-100 goons for lack of a better word) just to add to that villain feel. Having a small group of marauders on the tail of the heroes might add something to the rp. Also about my factbooks, At the moment I'm just going to use official Warhammer Fantasy material since I haven't the time to write the unique stuff that mixes the warhammer settings together.

Gothian Crimea wrote:Wahammer fantasy, very nice. Besthammer, considering my app at the moment.

I was planning to do more with the nation by combining different aspects of Chaos from across the Warhammer settings. Maybe I might get some AoS stuff in this, not exactly sure yet. I just haven't written far enough to really illustrate that yet though.

Interesting. After a discussion with the OP I was about to introduce villains as well... I can see your intervention making the scenario I had planned much more chaotic, which I think you would probably like. Also, are there vampires in Warhammer?

Yes. Vampire counts, AND vampire pirates.

There are but the kind in Warhammer are pretty fierce opponents to Chaos within their setting. Now there is a demon Vampire from 40k and I may be able to bring that in depending on how the OP answers my question.

Edit: I realized you may be wondering if your vampires may be able to work with Chaos and the answer is a solid maybe. Depending on things like how available they'd be to being corrupted to Chaos itself, what their culture exactly is and how well it meshes with the warband I'll bring, and the behavior of whatever warband I bring, they just may be able to work together.

Yeah, in Warhammer fantasy the undead and chaos are polar opposite. the undead are like "tradition", as they refuse to change, to die. Chaos is like "progress", as they are constantly changing, mutating. They hate each other usually in the setting too. Not always out to kill each other, but often out to kill each other.

Yeah, I’d say with 3 Planeswalkers in the thread make the band of marauders a bit bigger than that, a few of the more elite ones probably stand a chance of sticking around but we’ll likely be going through the lower level goons quickly. Either that, or have reinforcements standing by.

Alright, I can up the numbers. I feel I have a good idea for what to bring for this. It should fit the thread decently enough.

So I take it these are old school Planeswalkers, as opposed to Bradywalkers?

That’s what they meant. I think the My Little Pony fans call it Equus sapiens. And yes, Ponies are allowed.

Excellent. We’ll be coming in as allies of The Harbingers of Chaos. Chaos is a holy sacrament in Hrulgin culture.

by The Harbingers of Chaos
Name: Gilot le Prestre
Race/species: Human (Chaos Mutant)
Accomplishments: Defeated a Grail Knight in combat, lead a peasant rebellion against Bretonnian lords, corrupted multiple regiments of Men-at-Arms to Chaos
Special abilities: Mutations from "blessings" given to Gilot by the Chaos Gods have transformed his head into that of a lion, granted him an extra four sets of arms, and razor-sharp claws at the end of each of these arms. He is also a practitioner of the Lore of Metal which gives him access to a number of spells that he may be able to use in order to achieve his goals. As the leader of what can best be described as a cult, Gilot is a good orator able to convince people who don't know of his less scrupulous activities over to his side, slowly integrating them into his warband.
Equipment: Gilot has a Power Familiar to channel magical energy into him. He wields a Lashing Sword in each of his hands, a living blade in the shape of a snake enchanted by Chaos allowing them to move as they were whips. He rides on a Chaos Steed that he has "borrowed" from the now-dead leader of another Chaos warband.

Total number of troops: 50,000
Infantry: 25,000
Cavalry: 19,000
Artillery: 100
Elite/Special Forces: 5,000
Standard armament: Swords, Bows, Morning Stars, basically normal medieval weaponry combined with whatever they've been able to scavenge from their immediate surroundings
Nonstandard armaments (are any of the elites wielding custom weapons?): Some of the more elite members of the warband have been able to acquire weapons such as Chainswords and weapons forged by the Chaos Dwarfs making them stronger and more deadly.
Other equipment and abilities: Sorcerers are present within the elite forces of the warband.
