For the first time Kanatus smiled as they fought, seeing Hojin’s unbalanced state. He saw the flash of blood and felt like a shark in the water. He closed in on Hojin, his eyes on the king’s feet. There was not much more conference rooms left for Hojin to continue his linear retreat. Not that the Paras intended to let Hojin retreat a step further. Kanatus lunged forward, sweeping his left leg behind Hojin’s foot, while he shot his left hand out like a viper, grabbing Hojin’s bloodied hand.

With a spiteful cruel yank, Kanatus pulled Hojin forward. For a spilt second there was a moment that he and Hojin looked like twisted bloodied version of a dance as Kanatus tried to sabotage Hojin’s stance. Fire blazed in Kanatus eyes as he considered what he might tell the Seoyese what had happened to their king when he had to present them his broken corpse. And there were movement again as he pulled Hojin towards his waiting fist.

“Fuck!” Hojin hissed as he experienced weightless, falling only for it to be interrupted. Not for the better however. Just as it stopped, pain, searing pain, crackled from his hand and up through his arm like lightning. Then he was being punched in the face. All in all, not a great few seconds. He tasted blood in his mouth. He tried to get out of Kanatus’ grip, but quickly realized that that was a mistake as he felt more pain.

But Hojin still had his free hand. He briefly thought of trying to grapple with the Paras but that idea was quickly knocked out of him. He lifted it up to cover his head, pressing his face into his forearm as he shield himself. He slack out a glob of spit and blood and sacrificed what little balance he had to jerk his knee up to connect with the Paras’ groin. In doing so, Hojin placed all his weight on Kanatus’ grip, which provoked another gritted teeth grunt of pain.

Kanatus dropped Hojin, half-throwing him backwards as he’s own knees buckled. “You bastard!” Kanatus shouted as his body folded inward on itself. Kanatus blinked staying on his feet, if just barely, as he fell back to the far side of the conference room, the two men like spiders in a jar. Kanatus shook his hand, his fist was covered in bruises and bloody, his and Hojin’s mixing in a on his skin. More blood was on his chest from where Hojin had spat at him.

Hojin hit the floor. He rolled across the cold tiles of the conference room as Kanatus fell back. The King of Seoya, just as quickly as he had hit thf floor, scrambled up to his feet. He laughed at Kanatus’ outrage. He wiped his mouth with the back of his forearms, smearing blood across his arm and lips, his teeth an unnerving red as they peeked through his smile. Hojin flexed his fingers and took up defense stance again as he and Kanatus circled each other.

Kanatus breathed in and out through his nose, huffing like bull about to rage. An sentiment that Kanatus found himself unexpectedly sympathizing with. He lowered his fists slightly, safe with the distance distance between them. He took another breath. Hojin’s laugh was infuriating. He shouldn’t be laughing. He watched as Hojin smeared the blood, the look in his eyes taunting him. Kanatus charged, tackling Hojin.

Hojin’s eyes widen every so slightly as he, too late, saw the blurred form of Kanatus crashing into him. Hojin grappled with Kanatus, his feet loosing contact with the ground as he slammed his fists down on the back of his openers back. He struck again and again, digging his knuckles into seams of muscle along Kanatus’ shoulder blades.

Kanatus hissed in pain through gritted teeth at Hojin’s onslaught. He felt bone hit bone and strain muscle, a blow tear flesh. There was the warm sensation of blood on his back, the metallic scent invading his nose, the pain searing through him. Kanatus steadied his feet, roared in a cocktail of anger and pain, and not non-existent amount of excitement. The rush of a fight. The bit of bloodlust that he felt.

Wrapped his corded arms around Hojin’s waist, Kanatus heaved, lifting up the smaller man. He lifted with his legs, planting his feet firmly, but that didn’t stop Hojin from hitting him. Every spot he’d hit rung like a burning bell, but his mind wouldn’t let him focus on it even as his body screamed for it. The next part would. Kanatus slammed Hojin down against the top of the conference table, throwing the Seoyese king and the Paras’ weight against it.

Hojin’s mouth opened to scream, but no sound came out as all the breath in his lungs was knocked out. He was too shocked for a moment, his eyes going wide as his back hit the table. It didn’t break, neither the table nor his back, but it felt like it, it was at that moment that he realized that he may have underestimated Kanatus’s intentions of actually killing him. And perhaps his ability to prevent that in a fair fight.

Starbursts filled his vision again. He’s hit his head when Kanatus had slammed him against the wood. The world was turned inside out and upside down, all in a blur. He tried to move but his body protested. Air. He needed air. His whole body aches, and he was bruised and bleeding from all over. His hands were slick with his and Kanatus’ blood. Hojin did take some satisfaction in that. Wildly, Hojin swung an aching fist, and kicked at Kanatus.

Kanatus scowled as he caught Hojin’s wild flailing kick, gripping his leg tightly, his fingers digging into flesh as he held the projectile away from him. Unfortunately he was so focused on trying not to get kicked in the chest he didn’t see Hojin’s fist. It struck in across the face, splitting open his cheek and spilling crimson blood. Kanatus cursed as he belatedly grabbed Hojin’s wrist and wrestled with the man.

The Paras forced Hojin’s aside and pounced on the King, pressing close against him to avoid being hit again. His entire vision ran red with anger as a single thought preoccupied Kanatus’ mind. Killing Hojin. True, a small part of him raised the alarm that murdering a foreign leader with his bare hands wasn’t ideal, but the rest roared louder. Kanatus leaned over Hojin, reached for the king’s neck and squeezed.

Hojin gasped, though only for a moment as Kanatus forced the air out of his lungs. Okay. Hojin May have seriously miscalculated the situation with the Paras. As well as Kanatus’ strength. That was okay. Hojin just needed to rethink his approach. Which first and foremost was the issue of not dying by Kanatus’ hands. Hojin grasped at Kanatus’s wrists, attempting to pry them free, but when he found that impossible, and slammed his hand on the table as his eyes rolled back.

Kanatus hesitated as Hojin’s hand hit the table. For a moment the blood didn’t seem to taint his vision red. With a snarl he released the King of Seoya’s throat and pushed himself off of the monarch, flexing his fingers, stumbling back as he tried to return to some sense of rationality. Killing Hojin would be in fact a bad move. Not something easily covered up nor unlikely to cause an international incident on a grand scale.

“A deals a deal,” Kanatus growled, his chest rising and falling with heavy breathes. He stepped away from Hojin, starting to feel the ache and pain that had been inflicted upon him by the thrashing Seoyese man. “You’ve lost. Now. Get. Out.”
