No what I mean is that my part in this is the struggle over colonialism and I would follow with you all no matter what you did. But I'd create a side thing sort of to create my own nations history for my self to clear up, but also showing the troubles that people faced bac then. So basically what you all are doing i am gonna do to, but i am also doing a side thing as well.

I could throw in some Eugenian pirates into the mix as well...
If we're operating during the "Scramble for Eugenia" then pirates would be par for the course.

If we go with that, I think I would be making wide use of them as privateers, if you don't mind. As in handing out letter of marque like candy.

1780s works for me. The latter half 18th century in generally just perfect for me since it's the period in which my country evolved into a kleptocracy, but isn't quite far enough that I've stagnated so as to completely remove me from the international stage (which happened around 1830-1860).

Well...

I suppose for the first point... Officials from Jimanistan and Telvira could meet (in either country, I don't think it would make much of a difference) to discuss an end to their squabbles over their colonial posessions in Outer Eugenia. They could conclude that they would be better off allied (through a political marriage, esentially an exchange of hostages), with both of their colonies being jointly run.

This would make Santheres nervous, considering their possessions in the area would be endangered by a shift in the Balance of Power... Suppose their colony was relatively untouched by foreigners, because the Telvirans and Jimani were busy fighting one another.

At that point, Santheres could begin aiding and funding the resistant Eugenians, who decide to try and kill off as many leaders of both contries as possible, by exploiting the forthcoming event. And then we've got pirates in there, disrupting trade and military supply lines.

After that, I don't know... I'd suggest letting it roll from that.

But I just pulled all that out of my ass as I was writing it... Other thoughts are good, too

I thought that we were going to kill the monarch of one of the nations in such a way as to lay the blame on the other nation and thus cause an international incident that would intensify the conflict between the two nations rather than settling it in a dynastic marriage.

If you don't mind, I'll be setting the native hazards (human and otherwise) on the Eugenian terrain. Remember- Outer Eugenia is a patchwork of mutually contested colonies with perhaps an insurgent slave-revolt republic here and there.

I wouldn't mind the King of Jimanistan dying, I plan on playing him out to be a jerk... I just wasn't sure who we really wanted to die.

Doesn't have to be a monarch. Just someone important- someone whose death would cripple diplomatic relations with the suspected perpetrator. I don't see the point of hitting officials on both sides in what is essentially a false flag operation. The very fact that one side's people were hit and not the others would be an important point of the ruse.

That's true, I suppose I didn't quite think that through completely.... Still, if the king of Jimanistan were to die, I think Telvira would immeadiately be blamed, considering that the Jimani don't really trust foreigners anyway... And it'd really piss off whomever succeeds the King, and so it would probably initiate hostilities in short order.

Hmm... I think I'd like that idea even more... So a Eugenian kills the heir to the Jimani throne, and blames it on a Telviran somehow?... Maybe poison, actually, that would make it harder to tell who actually did the killing, and lead any normal person to assume it was whoever you were just fighting with.

Okay, I have something to add. My nation is supposed to be known for having people who develop really nasty poisons. To the extent that they're still used, albeit rarely, in MT. I could easily provide something that acts in a good way to get around tasters and such -- I figure this way, we don't have to handwave an excuse nearly so much, and just need to come up with interesting poison effects.
