Raudoyan-Hantuonian Front

As the enemy spread out along the border and shifting frontline, King Ottokar welcomed the arrival of the Tur Company, the ten thousand Imaratian mercenary group he’d hired from the recovering mountain kingdom. Experienced and armed with Patuanian T-23 tanks, and Kuvageegai 27 automatic rifles, the King of the Raudoyans had given them a down payment and promised them land in Hantuounia for their services. Lead by Giga Arziani, they were directed eastward to the center of the line to act as defense in order to push the Hantounians out of the forests Eastern Raudoya. Using their compact force, and used to having to navigate the rough mountains of the Patuanian Alps, the Tur Company launched rapid strikes on the dispersed units of Hantuonian soldiers.

This principle of divide and conquer was further employed by the Army Groups. Group B, choosing to not engage on their own leaving the Hantounians to the Tur Company, backtracked south to join up with Group A. Meanwhile Group C did the same, joining Group D on their push to the sea. Group A & B, focusing their numbers into engagement with smaller pieces of the over all Hantounian forces launched a second offensive southward, no longer towards the river but to meet up the Caraintese coming from the south. Meanwhile Group D & C, suffering under heavy artillery fire did their best to push forward, Group C striking in an oblique movement to further divide the Hantuonians.

Further back the Raudoyans launched the first ever Cermak-1, a two person fighter jet based off of Patuanian designs, with an elongated body and a twin set of four missiles. It took off alongside a group of 12 Veverka fighters, older smaller propeller planes, which while not able to match the high speeds of the Cermak could still flight at over 400mph, and were armed with 14 mm machine guns. The Veverkas, standing out with their mirror finish bodies, were light weight and agile.

Colfico City

The Minister of Defense raised an eyebrow as the princess entered his office, which had been converted into a war room, where Arjun Wes, as well as several other ministers under his jurisdiction, and a few intelligence and military officers, were busy managing things, and talking over a large table with a map of the war, with several figures signifying various units and forces of the participants. With notable attention being given to the sudden opening of the front with Seoya, and it was clear that an offensive had not been planned against the Seoyans, given that one was now being thrown together quickly.

He also noticed the bottle of wine, and the flowers in her arm, and the papers in her other, and already knew that she wanted something.

Central Front

Colficoan forces on the Central front had continued their push, however, they were encountering a fair amount of difficulty, what with the sudden increase in the number of opposing soldiers, however, given the steady rate of advance, morale was still relatively high, although many soldiers were beginning to accept the fact that this likely was not going to be a quick and easy war, as were many of their commanders, and so, their tactics changed, yet again, and this time, with a long, drawn out conflict in mind.

The Colficoan troops began employing a slow, deliberate advance, using artillery of various types, tanks, air support, and even careful fire from infantry carried anti tank weapons such as recoiless rifles and 13.2mm anti-tank rifles, although these rifles had shifted from their original role to targeting lighter armored apcs and trucks.

Bererin, Seoya

Mok Yonghwan arrived in the town of Bererin ahead of the advancing Buanguk and Bongheon Army regiments. Following the events that had played out in Lenikalen the National Cabinet was forced to refocus their attentions to the home front, recalling their harassed expeditionary forces from the Northern Sea and back tracking them back to defend against Colfico and its Celestial allies, official or not, they were proving a threat. Across the southeast of Seoya there was widespread panic. In Pedev and Rechi people had grown angry, but not towards the invaders but instead towards the central government in Pyeongyeon, questioning why they stayed in a nation they felt couldn’t defend them. Meanwhile in Oakburh and Soketonbury hundreds of people were fleeing south to the Celestial Empire’s border wishing to escape into a neutral nation.

The only bright side was that the mismanagement of the front appeared to be going both ways. The National Cabinet had received a message from the National Assembly of Colfico disavowing the Deritain Empress and the Duchess of Hyrea and their actions in their invasion and the Ferevillereau river disaster. The National Cabinet thus came together and decided to see if they could take this moment to end the fighting on the home front and then they could return to their original mission of defending Hantuonia. Three diplomats had been selected, Mok Yonghwan to speak with the Empress, Si Seung-Heon to speak with the Duchess of Hyrea
Paek Kwang-Hyok to speak with Prime Minister Arjun Wes. First up was Mok, sent to Bererin in the south near the approaching frontline to see if he could negotiate a cease fire with the Empress.

Entrenchment

Postby Hantuonia » Fri Feb 25, 2022 8:00 am

Raudoyan Front

With Hantuonian troops managing to form a counter-attack and push into eastern Raudoya, preparations for entrenchment began. The defense force dug deep into the ground and set up artillery within these trenches, barbed wire spread out among the area, the grass that was once a vibrant green was now a dull grey, the effects of war were not only on the people of the nature and scenery as well, clouds formed from the smoke and entire forests were stripped of their color. Machine guns and automated weapons were perched atop the trenches and loaded with what seemed like endless rounds of ammunition.

"How shall we approach this, Sazta?" Corporal Vitz asked, his face was stained brown from dirt and smoke.
"I am unsure of the outcome at this moment, corporal," General Sazta replied, looking out towards the mist and advancing Raudoyan troops that could be seen from miles away,

"Yet I believe that this war is still in our favor, even if we must retreat from the Raudoyans, our soldiers by the central front are managing to repel the Grand Alliance military."

With entrenchment close to complete and artillery being set up, the Hantuonian military was preparing for a long, hot Summer.

Colfico City

Crown Princess Marie smiled and clasped her hands together as she saw not just the Minister of Defense but the prime minister and other officials as well. Not what she had expected but she could work with that.

“Hello ladies and gentlemen.” Marie said as she walked over to the table, looking at the map. Seoya had been as unexpected of an entry into the war, along with Amelie and Marijani’s assault to her as to the rest of them. “I hope to join you all. I have a few ideas on how to help with the war effort. I wish to run them by. After all, the more heads the better?”

Bererin, Seoya

The Mother Empress and a small entourage of guards arrived in the Seoyese town with some unease. She did not yet know enough about the Seoyese to know who they were as a people. But she was willing to negotiate a reasonable, though preferably advantageous position for herself and to a lesser extent the Grand Alliance.

Dresss in all white, still in mourning for her late husband, the Mother Empress, despite being in the midst of a war zone, conducted herself as if she were parading through the avenues of Gaosa, perched on a white palanquin, the drawn curtains decorated with the emblem of the Aurelains family, the star of vergina, her walking in formation behind the bearers.

Mok Yonghwan bowed politely as the Mother Empress arrived. She certainly had an interesting display around her. At Mok’s direction a table and tent had been set up for them to speak in. He rose from the bow and gestured to it.

“Your Majesty, I, Mok Yonghwan, diplomat empowered by the authority of the National Cabinet formally invite you to join in a parley to discuss terms of an armistice between our forces. Shall you care to join me?”

The Mother Empress after a moment of looking over Mok Yonghwan, descended from her palanquin with the grace of a springtime breeze cutting through the heat of the summer. Marijani d’Aurelains was tall and dark, and her eyes studied Mok carefully. After a moment, having come to the decision to go along ahead, waving off her guards as she was sure she had little to fear from the Seoyese man, and confident in her ability to handle matters if proven otherwise, she walked past him.

“Very well. Let us talk. Though I warn you, I have terms of my own,” Marijani said as she swept into the tent.

Mok nodded. “I would expect nothing less Ma’am.” With that he followed the Empress into the tent. He closed the canvas flap behind him and sat down across from her. He pulled out a brief case with a set of papers, for reviewing, for not taking as well as several maps of Seoya, Hyrea, Colfico and the Celestial Empire.

“The National Cabinet is prepared to come to a reasonable agreement for the end of hostilities. What would be your terms?”

Marijani d’Aurelains considered Mok’s words and began looking over the map. She had left her home months ago on a mission to fight a war, install a friendly monarch and deal with the Duchess of Hyrea. She had, perhaps not in the way that she and her husband had planned, done each of those things mostly. The fight that her soldiers had been itching for had finally come, and Marijani could be satisfied with key points. She had the blood of the Conqueror in her veins yes, but the Aurelains had always preferred more subtle, modern waves of holding power.

“First and foremost We demand Seoya’s immediate withdrawal from the war and the end of their support, politically, financially or militarily for Hantuonia.”

“That is certainly quite the large demand. Hantuonia has been our first and foremost ally and trading partner in my country’s young history. The National Cabinet moved heaven and earth in support of President Krotzka. To abandon Hantuonia in the midst of this war, it would be a betrayal of grand proportions.”

Mok took a note on a piece of paper.

“Seoya would need to have some form of compensation not only for the loss of face that such a move would deal to us but as well for the vast destruction that your forces have caused.”

If this deal goes through, expect ties with us to deteriorate quickly, the leader of Hantuonia was given up for Seoyese entry.

Undisclosed Military and Research Bases in Hantuonia

The research and creation of the "Bluz-9" bomb continued, the plan for its usage was to drop it on the capital of Caraintos, the fireball it created could potentially span 1.82 square miles, however, the bomb would be very inaccurate. The draft within Hantuonia continued, and at least 75-thousand new conscripts are to be deployed within the next few days.

Raudoyan-Hantuonian Front

The Tur Company continued their rapid-fire campaign, turning south to strike at the Hantuonian units closer to the border, the mercenaries leaving the forces closer to entrenching to the Raudoyans.

In the North Army Groups C and D had reached the Hantuonian coast. Two of Group D's brigades launched their part of the larger overall offensive operation, with the mechanized brigade rushing in a motorized narrow offensive along the inlet while an infantry brigade spun southwestward to aid their brothers in Army Group C against the Hantounia, attacking from the rear in a pincer movement.

In the south speed was prioritized as Army Group A and Army Group B skirmishes with the Hantounians as they raced southwards to the advancing Caraintese forces aided by the support of their unlikely ally's air support.

Ostrovya, Dobuzh Province, Raudoya

The small city of Ostrovya, perched in between Lake Male More and the Hantounia was evacuated as thousands of women and children were loaded onto boats and sent westward to the city of Dobuzh while the men of the city were impressed into the military, armed, and took up defensive positions in the city as Captain Tibor Korinek, in charge of an artillery battery assembled the able-bodied men of Ostrovya intro a thousand man militia while word was sent to Dobuzh for reinforcements against the invading Hantuonians.

Perev, Perev Province, Raudoya

General Felix Horvath, at the direction of King Ottokar mobilized reservists and conscripts alike, forming them into Army Groups E and F, preparing to deploy them to uproot the entrenching Hantounians in the thick and now burning forests of eastern Perev.

Marijani’s face was a serene mask of calm for a moment as she considered Mok’s words. A part of her, that part that flowed with the blood of the Conquer wanted to explain to him that their compensation was her not setting their entire country ablaze or drown it more floods. That she suspected that would not get her far in the long run. And she had always been taught to think several steps ahead.

“Mr. Mok, I suspect that you and your National Cabinet are far weaker than you are letting on. I think that while you were willing to support Hantuonia, you were not fully aware of the burden that your nation itself would have to bare. A burden your country’s shoulders are not yet strong enough to hold.”

The Mother Empress rose from her seat, placing her palms on the table and looking down at the Seoyese diplomat.

“I admit you buff very well. But your willingness for peace? It betrays you. It is not idealism, it is desperation. I am willing to beat that you need peace more than I do. So why should I even consider compensating you?”

Mok matched the Deritain empress’s placid face for one of his own, though there was no small alloy that of him that felt uneasy by the woman’s confidence in her readings. He however took a breath and reached into the stack of files and pull out a small piece of paper stamped with CLASSIFIED on it. He carefully slid the document over to the empress.

“This is why.”

Marijani raised an eyebrow but toon the document, standing up straight and unfolding it and letting her eyes scan over its words. She paused and read them again. They were not perhaps the smoking gun the Seoyese thought it was. Not to Marijani herself at least. But it could provide a thorn in her future ambitions. She looked back at Mok.

“This is a complication I admit. But I could, I have, survived worse.” Marijani set down the document and considered her options. She was silent for a while.

“I will not grant Seoya compensation.” Marijani said, sliding back into her seat. “Instead I willing to make… an investment into your nation. Seoya is young, but luckily for you I believe in uplifting rather than subjugating. Here is the deal. Seoya leaves the war, cuts ties with Hantuonia, and ally with me in blissful… neutrality.”

The Mother Empress waved her hand. “I want all Seoyese ports opened to Celestial trade, ships, military and civilian, a Celestial Envoy to Pyeongyeon, and the Duchess of Hyrea appointed administrator of everything east of Lake Bacray. 40 acres and a tractor for each of my men who wish to stay in Seoya, and a small port for myself. In exchange I promise to defend Seoya from any who may wish to threaten it, whether they be Paras, Emperor, or National Assembly. Along with,” Marijani did some mental calculations in her mind. “54 million dérrals to reconstruction and stimulus along and for those effected by the… incident.”

Mok hesitated for a moment. It was a lot, but it could have been worse. The southeast had always been a troubled spot for the central government and he imagined that the Duchess would be met with a rude awakening in her attempts to govern the lands east of Lake Bacray. A small smile broke through his neutral face at the thought. The harder part to sell to the National Cabinet would cession of land for a port for the Empress.

“The port would have to be no larger than 30 square miles.”

Marijani nodded without hesitation. The size of the land allocated didn’t quite matter as much as what she intended to do with it. And she was certain that she could achieve much even with just thirty square miles.

“That is acceptable.”

If this is Seoya ending Hantuonian assistance, expect trade between us ending. The fighters assisting Seoyan ships in the Northern Sea are leaving Seoyan ships to be destroyed, this will be the end of our alliance as it is grave betrayal and loss of face to the Hantuonians.

With the Treaty of Bererin as of July, 2134 Seoya officially exits the Great Eastern War having lost several thousand soldiers and civilian lives. All Seoyese officials in Hantuonia are recalled as formal diplomatic and trade relations between Seoya and Hantuonia breakdown and dissolve.

Krotzka called the Seoyese government pathetic in a press meeting,

"They barely lost land and felt pressured to leave the war, yet here we are, the Hantuonians, fighting for every last nanometer of land we have, I thought that we had a good ally, however, I was proved wrong, I wouldn't even be surprised if the Seoyese were closely related to the Vardozians, both of them are pathetic groups and nations.

( don’t take that personally, sorry if it comes off mean)

North Caraintese-Hantuonian Front

Continuing their push as part of Operation Summer Green, Hayard and the 3rd Regiment made their last final push north to finally meet up with their Raudoyan partners. With the departure of Seoya from the war had boosted Caraintese moral and pleased the higher up in the government as it meant Hantuonia now stood alone, further justifying the war against them as an enemy to international peace.

Meanwhile the 10th Regiments along with the Amphibious Anti-Tank Group moved north and met up with the 9th and 11th Regiments. Locke, seeing an opportunity, turned his forced back south, encircling a section of the Hantuonians forces. Together with the 5th regiment from their defensive line across the Genzorga River Locke’s meet crushed the enemy forces between their ranges of fire.
