Lake Samer

Chambers Infantry Brigade marched till it reached the Alletton River and then moved southward toward the bombarded enclave of Caraintese land around Lake Samer. Taking advantage of their numbers, Chambers had the artillery and auxiliary support forces cut of. The mouth of the enclave and lead her forces back westward in a wall of armored trucks and 51-mm gun fire, pushing towards the Turandan border.

South Front

Meanwhile Earll and Buckett’s forces joined the fight, striking from the south in order to break Hantounian concentration on the central front. They moved in a pincer moved, with Buckett’s hitting the Hantounians hard from the southerly direction while Earll’s struck from the northerly direction. Corsairs shot over head performing strikes on the Hantounian forces between the two army groups.

Central Front

The Colficoan forces continued their offensive, however they slowed, careful to sweep through the area, they had faced similar tactics before during the civil war, and this was nothing new to them. The soldiers, instead of hunting each sniper with infantry alone, brought up anti-air vehicles and APCs, and used their heavier armor and weapons to help clear them out, or, when that was not possible, would simply call upon artillery or air support to flatten the area the enemy held.

Vardozia

Despite being outnumbered, the 2nd Paratrooper battalion was a crack regiment, well experienced from combat in the Colficoan Civil War, and they were well equipped, and as they fell back into the capital, they used the city to their advantage, using machine guns, howitzers, shoulder mounted launchers, and even anti tank rifles to turn the streets into killing zones, and force the much larger hantounian force to fight them in the narrow, confining streets of the city. They fought with a near suicidal determination, spurred on by the knowledge that there would only be death and suffering if they surrendered.

Southern Sea

The XF-50s were proving to be a nuisance, however, while the NF-1s and CF-7s were somewhat slower, it was the intervention of the much faster CF-11 that helped the fleet to hold out, and even the CF-7s and NF-1s could hold their own, being combat proven machines through multiple wars, and the NF-1 being a maneuverable aircraft in its own right, and this was aided by the use of ship based missiles from both from the refitted Alexander class cruisers, and the CNS Commonwealth herself.

Under the waves, several Swordsman-Class Diesel Electric submarines began hunting their Hantounian counterparts, using their advanced active/passive sonar systems to help hunt them down.

Central Frontline

From all around the Colfico military Hantuonian forces rose out of the grass and what seems to be tanks in the hundreds rolled out into broad daylight, though the Colfico military knew that Hantuonians were indeed setting a trap, they hadn’t known the sheer amount of firepower that was being put into the trap. Bombers could be seen flying towards the Colfico troops, with the firepower of dropping thousands of tonnes of explosives. Snipers fired at the Colfico troops, bombs set up around the area were detonated, the counter-attack back into Caraintos was beginning.

Renato, Caraintos

People screamed as bombs erupted in Tasario Square, the popular plaza in front of the palace of the same name. Guards move quickly, having had to deal with similar bombing plots by Turandans and radical dissenters, they moved quickly, locking down the square as police shut down the city. The docks and its warehouses were placed on lockdown, placed under suspicion as it had been where a previous planted bomb had attempted and failed to assassinate the Princess Regent.

In the square the gunsman was quickly apprehended, disarmed, restrained and taken into custody. As scorched marking scarred the walls of the Tasario Palace and the dead, ten in total with over a hundred injured, the public resolve for the war became paramount. A young photographer, Breyna Piler, who had been visiting the capital in hopes of catching pictures of the palace had been able to catch the horrific sight of innocent Caraintese citizens killed by Hantounians.

These pictures, taken into police hands following the attack, were handed over to Prince Angemar the Elder, who, having experience in enflaming the wrath of a people, disseminated the graphic shots to newspapers not only in Caraintos but via the Lajaz diaspora in Colfico, the Celestial Empire, Genes, Great Hyruke, Narumada and Turanda. The Hantuonians were a Scourge, an enemy, a threat, to everyone.

Almost overnight Piper’s shocking photographs ended any hesitation in Caraintos.

North Caraintese-Hantuonian Front

Hayard’s men, with news of the Tasario Square Bombing spreading rapidly from officers, rallied to break the stalemate that had started to form along the heavily armed front. There was anger and bloodlust in the veins of the Caraintese soldiers as they launched an all out assault in the Hantounians positions, strike north along the Dasorresan border in order to get around the hilled positions of the enemy. Further south a unit armed with flame throwers scoffed the earth along the Genzorga River. The 3rd Regiment marched forwards, pulling behind it the heavy artillery that focused their bombardment on the stretch of lands directly ahead of their soldiers, their muzzles glowing red as they fired round after round.

Central Caraintese-Hantuonian Front

The 5th Regiment, having heels onto the defensive chose this moment to once again forded the Genzorga River, mirroring their Hyrukian allies as they attacked the flank of the enemy. They moved as quickly as they could in north and south pincers while their antitank mobile guns shifted up and down the front, their low aiding them as they struck before falling back.

Meanwhile thre 4th Regiment refused to be pushed back, supporting the Colficoan forces as they fought to hold the line. Here the fighting turned bloodiest as men started keeping score of enemy combatants were killed. Commanders began setting quotas. They were not to give an inch. The regiment’s light artillery focused on gelding the Colficoans and their shell replaced, as their northern counterparts had been, with incendiary ones to light the Hantuonia grasses ablaze and their forces within them.

Further back heavy artillery was directed to act as anti-air, firing at the Hantuonian Air Force. They supported the Air supremacy jets that moved to intercept the bombers, climbing in sharp slopes to high altitudes above the bombers and then performing falcon maneuvers to strike down the enemy aircraft.

South Front

Chambers Infantry Brigade, with control regained over Lake Samer, turned its attention eastward, moving out of the enclave and moving across the arid landscape to the southeast along the Turandan border.

Central Frontline

25-thousand reserves are called to the war in the central front, with Hantuonia desperate and reserves running low they begin pushing back the invaders inch by inch, though not gaining much land it was some progress. The defense force was now composed of 250-thousand infantry, 94-thousand of which were at the central frontline.

North Caraintese-Hantounian Frontline

The 3rd Regiment started to see that’s slash and burn tactic was working. Hayard saw this and ordered a them to double down on their efforts. The professional forces funneled their units of takes into V-formations on the left and right flanks of the enemy. Using the Genzorga River and Dasorresan border respectively as shields to protect their own flanks.

Central Caraintese-Hantuonian Frontline

The 2nd Regiment started to regroup forces around the Roccioro River as the Hantuonians seemed to throw everything they had at them. The 4th Regiment two was forced to take more defensive positions as the frontline straightened out under the counter assault. The 5th Regiment head it’s ground as it fortified the stretch of forest between the bends of the Genzorga River.

The Amphibious anti-tank troops, searching for a gap in the enemy lined moves southwards and made a daring crossing once more across the large river, losing one of the personal carriers in the process. Once on the other side they moved back north to assault the Hantounians from the right in order to aid the 5th Regiment.

Southern Frontline

Hantuonians prepare for another counter-attack, in the midst of the fighting bombs are placed under the soil on the other side of the river, the gunshots and sounds of artillery cannons offered as great distractions, once the bombs were in place the Hantuonian defenders retreated a bit, inch by inch and eventually mile by mile, waiting for the attackers to step a bit to them. If the plan goes smoothly the Southern frontline collapse and allow the Hantuonians to reclaim some territory.

North Caraintese-Hantounian Frontline

Hayward’s men continued their large scale pincer movement on the Hantounian forces, their own numbers starting to spread thin as they moved eastward to encircle the enemy. That was until the arrival of the 9th and 11th Regiments lead by Ronard Celtigar and Brunn Charlton respectively. With thousands of fresh troops arriving at the front, they decided to press their advantage in the far north funneled their increased numbers there with a two hundred strong collective force of armored vehicles leading the charge to break the line and move past the front and swing back around to attack the Hantuonians from the rear.

At the same time the main infantry force of the 3rd Regiment feigned retreat by a mile while the Air Force launched a bombing campaign over the North Hantuonian forces’ southerly flank. They pulled away, the ground they left behind was littered with blood, blacken and cratered by enemy artillery shells and bombardments, and razed by friendly grass fires leaving only sight like a the fields of hell.,

Central Caraintese-Hantuonian Frontline

The 5th Regiment continued to hold its position, unable to advance, but slowing their retreat to a snail’s pace while the anti tank units continued harassing the sides of the Hantuonians’ forces. having made their successful if dangerous and costly crossing of the Genzorga, the anti-tank units had made proof of concept and thus came the arrival of the 10th Regiment which, using rope guards and wooden pontoon boats, made their own crossing of the Genzorga River in a plan to strike at the chink in the enemy’s armor between the main North and Central fighting.

Pyeongyeon, Seoya

The National Cabinet, after quietly making a deal with Nathan Krotzka, advisor to the hospitalized President Michael Corvu— who they had seemed as too much of a threat and an international pariah to work with— gave them green light for a nighttime coup. Michael Corvu had been handed over to Seoyese Ambassadorial Security, placed into a drug induced coma and flown out of New Bozia to Seoya. Hours later the National Cabinet officially recognized Krotzka as the new President of Hantuonia, and as promised pledged to defend Hantuonia from its invaders.

Henamseo, Seoya

The 1st Seoyese Fleet, though technically the only fleet, left port from Henamseo with two battleships, the Deog and the Jeongjig escorted 22 smaller troopships, each holding 550 Seoyese soldiers, totally in 12,100 of the promised 30,000 soldiers and a sixth of the tanks and artillery set to arrive in Hantuonia in six days time. Admiral Sin Yonghwan was appointed in charge of the fleet as it embarked on its over two thousand mile journey. General Na Sungjin joined, planning to stay in Hantounia while the fleet went back and forth to ferry their men through the Northern Sea.

Volya, Raudoya
May 2134

King Ottokar stepped out onto a platform before the Main Street of the capital city of the federal kingdom, adjusting his glasses has he prepared to speak. Thousands had gathered as the royal guard paraded down the street and now stood in their marvelous glory in front of their leader. Before becoming king, Ottokar had been a military commander and mercenary, having gained experience in fighting across the continent in various conflicts. His military attitude had only grown since he had seized power for the sake of the Raudoyan people. His regime, brutal and unchallengeable thanks to ethically questionable state secrets, was fiercely stratocratic, a military with a state rather than a state with a military. And now it was time to inflict that military upon a foreign enemy.

“Citizens of Raudoya, a great betrayal is afoot! Hantuonians, the Scourge of the East, are coming you!” said the King with fierce seriousness. His speech was inflammatory, having been inspired by the terrifyingly effective propaganda pamphlets from the Paras of Patuania. A few years ago must Raudoyans had no strong opinion on Southerners. Now many feared them as unnatural monsters bent on their destruction. And Hantuonians fell into that same category now more than ever. “For families, your wives and your children, their depravity knows no bounds. Nor their expansion, save for the guns of brave Raudoyans! Only you, brave citizens, can stop this scourge before it spreads. Let the Northern cold freeze them dead! For their crimes, against peace and humanity, we declare war on Hantuonia and any and all who support them in any way!”

Cheers rippled through the crowd.

Raudoyan-Hantuonian Border

Thirty minutes before the King’s public announcement of war on Hantuonia, the Federal Army was already launching its attack across the border. 40,000 soldiers 500 main battle tanks (Raudoyan and Patuanian built to withstand the frigid temperatures and harsh mountains of the Borean States) along with 150 pieces of 150 mm self-propelled heavy artillery comprised the initial mobilized force sent into Hantuonia. The force was spilt into four groups: A, B, C, and D.

Group A, the largest and the most southern of the groups was comprised of four Infantry Brigades and three Mechanized Cavalry Regiments pushed southwards into Hantuonia, the MCRs leading the way, their mission objective to reach the long river that ran through the north of the federal republic.

Group B, the smallest and located along the border just north of Group A was comprised of two infantry brigades and pushed eastwards across the border, planning to provide support for Group A and Group C as was deemed necessary.

Group C, comprised of three infantry brigades and one mechanized cavalry unit was further north along the border and like B pushed eastwards, though their goal was designated as being to push to the inlet and mouth of the river.

Group D, comprised of four infantry brigades and one mechanized cavalry regiment pushed eastwards crossing the border, meant to push towards the coast and then follow it southwards. One of its infantry brigades however was for the meantime stationed at the Raudoyan end of the Strait of Hagena in order to help uphold the blockade of Hantuonia with the Buvarians.

Over Northern Hantuonia

Flying ahead of the various army groups came similarly assigned wings of Raudoyan Radula-3 fighter-bombers, each armed with two thousand pound bombs and autocannons.

Strait of Hagena

With rising tensions across the continent between Hantuonia and its neighbors, Grand Duke George of Buvaria had grown unsettled by the expansionist attitude of President Michael Corvu, a sentiment that he shared with his fellow Borean leader, King Ottokar of the Raudoyans. Together they had gone to Gosataborg, where, meeting with Grand Duke Sakarias decided that their entry into the war was necessary for the safety of the Northern Sea states. Thus was formed the new alliance of the Borean Tripartite, one that while not friends with the Southerners of the Grand Alliance, had the same goal of dismantling Hantuonia.

The Borean Tripartite had begun mobilization, though Raudoya had done so weeks before, but had held off on public announcements as Buvaria moved to catch up, calling upon its Reservist forces and sending them into active service. Then they had waited for the perfect time to strike. The sudden shooting of Michael Corvu and the Seoyese entry into the war had been deemed the last straw. As the Seoyese sailed into the Northern Sea, Buvaria and Raudoya moved to blockade and embargo Hantuonia.

In this geography was on their side, and at the Strait of Hagena, the narrowest point of the long inlet that ran south into Hantuonia, the Buvarian battleship, the HHS Gunther patrolled the 24 mile wide gap of water between Buvarian and Raudoyan shores. To the south of the Gunther’s position sea mines of varying heights were placed in alternating lines to keep both any ships or submarine from going in or out.
