Well, I would assume that, statistically, no one tried to leave. Perhaps around 100,000 tried to make a new life, but that is easily searched. The US conducts immigration reviews of more than 47,00,000 a year, and this is a country of 16 million. They likely have the public infrastructure to search out at least that number. Doing math on population, they can do the immigration, now emigration, process for 2 million people.

I didn’t make the joke. To be fair, I feel bad for you. Quite a few of my (albeit, somewhat old) relatives, and even a pet of mine or two, alongside a friend all passed away from cancer.
