Strategic and Geographic Map of Estheria and New Cambria

1874, Franzburg (Now La Fayette), Estheria
The people of Estheria, have by their words and by their actions decreed, that by violation of the United Provinces Constitution, the Federal Government has forfeit their right to claim leadership over these Provinces of New Vazandia, Apalachee, Sevier, Klamath, La Fleur, Ithaque, Caddo, La Forge and River Forge, who by the course of this struggle have proved their separate and equal place among nations. Where the respect of the right of self-governance for Provinces be maintained with. Seventy and two years ago these United Provinces declared, in the same way we declare now, that the right of the Provinces and their peoples to independence and liberty shall not be infringed. As the bonds between the United Provinces of East Antigonia and the Acronian Empire were dissolved completely, so such, are the bonds between the United Provinces and the Estherian Confederation severed.
Hereby, as God is my witness, I and the Estherian People decree from here in Franzburg, New Vazandia, to the United Provinces and to the World, that we are a sovereign nation, free and equal to any other, after our victory in this war, which shall thus be known as the Estherian War of Independence.

- President Lorenzo Guevremont
Of course, many things have changed since those dark days of the early nation of Estheria. Where those days were marred by slavery, discrimination, apartheid and subjugation, Estheria today serves as a beacon of liberation and self-determination for all peoples. Not all see it that way however, the worst of these reactionary forces are our northern rivals of New Cambria. Those traitors who upheld the institutions of slavery and apartheid when they had every opportunity to dissolve them, so called 'Liberals' they allow themselves to be ruled by their own blindness and ignorance. Estheria has a long and sordid history, and our time in the sun will not be sullied by one sociopath in Donvichy who styles himself President.
Ninety years past, Confederate Estheria and New Cambria fought to a bloody stalemate, after which, the New Cambrians forced a humiliating peace on Estheria, which not only guaranteed to maintain the systems of oppression already in place, but signed a 90 year lease for the Estherian lands of La Forge, a lease whose deadline has now come and past. If not for the pig-headed ignoramus currently in the Donvichy State House, Estheria would right now be returning to its legal territory. However clearly, this President Beauregard has no intention for any peaceful transition into the way things should be. If a peaceful transition isn't possible it becomes the responsibility of the Estherian People's Army to liberate the Estherian people from the corrupt robber barons and would-be monarchs of Donvichy.

5th August 1927, Donvichy, New Cambria
Since the dark days of the Civil War, the Republic of New Cambria has forged its own destiny, and it is my hope that with this peace treaty the peoples of New Cambria and Estheria can once again come together in brotherhood, and although we will forge separate paths, may we do so amicably and without further bloodshed. This latest war has been but one of many since Estherian independence, and although New Cambria emerges victorious, we have no need for Estherian re-integration, for New Cambria is not the United Provinces, the great Antigonian experiment was a failure, and we do not seek to repeat the failures of the past.

- President Obed A. Wayland
New Cambria continues to forge its destiny, and we have achieved many wonderous things, including hosting the OCN global headquarters in New Astonbury, and being a leader in art and culture across Atlas despite our small size. Despite all we have achieved, the mutual wounds we share with our neighbour to the south have never truly healed. Animosity between Estheria and New Cambria only seems to grow as the march of time seems to only bring détente, and then an even greater chilling of relations. Although it has been over 60 years since gunshots were exchanged between our two countries, The idea of war has never felt far from reality, while at this point, unification between Estheria and New Cambria seems impossible, that does not mean that surrender and compromise is the only path to peace.
For there will be no capitulation, and can be no compromise with totalitarian states, especially ones which pose an existential threat to the future freedoms of all New Cambrians. The people of La Forge are scared and relying on the Army of the Republic of New Cambria to protect them, the idea that bureaucrats in Donvichy should abandon them in the name of a 90 year old piece of paper to a nation which no longer exists is laughable. The hordes of Estheria are vast, with a near reverence for firearms and near total ideological fanaticism. Such an enemy is one of the greatest we could ever face, and if war is to be waged against them, we must be prepared, and should war be waged with them, we must be prepared to vanquish this threat entirely so that we can ensure safety, liberty and peace for our children and grandchildren.
The Estherian politburo right now is divided. As is the New Cambrian parliament, newly elected President Romain Beauregard ascended to his position on a platform of virulent nationalism and revanchism, although this election was far from concrete, as the Parliament remains divided, with Labour Party politicians still retaining the majority of seats in the House of Representatives, leaving Beauregard little room to manoeuvre or push through his extensive agenda without significant backlash. In La Fayette, the situation is little better, the death of General Secretary William Davis Scott has thrown the Communist Party into disarray. His nominated successor, Tucker Daley, has adjusted poorly to the role, and internal factions in the Communist Party seek to supplant him, particularly the more authoritarian Rykovist factions of the Communist Party led by Edmund Poutier, President of the People's Assembly.
The fate of La Forge only further complicates matters. Without the House's consent, Beauregard cannot reliably oppose the handover of the region legislatively, and provoking a crisis may just be the only way for Beauregard to force his agenda through Parliament. Similarly on the other side of the conflict, Rykovist factions in the Communist Party have long called for the reclamation of La Forge by any means necessary, and for Daley's political future as General Secretary, it becomes necessary for him to recover the territory to appease the dissident factions of the Party.
ARNC tanks and infantry regiments have begun to pour into La Forge, to dissuade any attempt by the Estherian People's Army to reclaim the region. Seeing these aggressive troop movements, the Estherian People's Army remains on high alert, with reserve troops already being partially activated in preparation for war. If war should break out in East Antigonia, may god have mercy on us all.
