Meretica wrote:Despite her lapse in writing and her sudden disappearance, Esther Hornwright (87) has escaped to an undisclosed location and started publishing stories online. She has also taken to doing live streams once a week from an undisclosed location in which she has become labeled a Confederate-supporting conspiracy theorist, dampening her appeal to Mereticans at large and making even the most loyal fans abandon her works. During one such live stream, she brings out a detailed chart and begins sharing the following conspiracy theory:I think that the Empire is just a totalitarian oligarchy that we've all been tricked into supporting. Just think about it for a second. We've abandoned many of our old traditions. We aren't as kind as we used to be. Like I shared in last week's stream, we attempted to rig the Galapagos's elections for Christ's sake! We're not a democracy-- we're fascist oligarchs.
Wilmington is the ringleader. The Senate is mostly made up of her cronies, the so-called Loyalists that aren't loyal to anything other than their pocketbook. Wilmington took over a little too quickly, and the Political Union sure did clamp down on welfare and healthcare spending. The minimum wage went down, wealth gaps have increased dramatically, massive tax cuts are preventing us from moving forward with our lives... I mean, what's with that? The Senator Bonteri that I voted for before the Esterton Atrocity never would have done this stuff, but she is now. She went from being a good far-left LLC voter to a fascist. That's what Bonteri is now, a fascist. None of them are decent people anymore, they do what helps them-- and what irks me the most is that the populace supports them! Surely there's got to be some secretive cabal leading this with Wilmington at the top...
"Gehehehe, sure... Keep dreaming, kid."
So says Laura Ortiz. In fact she'd likely welcome the refugees, but they'd be pushed to work in the mines to keep peace with the current rule, even if Laura was more of an ally in the shadows for Meretica and their current rule. To simply shun them would only bring about ruin, especially after the nuclear genocide that brought them closer together, somewhat.
Laura is still debating internally if she should meet with this Lakan leader, however. She's heard rumors about them, but alas, a duel would be a nice way to get out of the office without having to resort to burning the world down.
