OOC: Well boys what time is it? War crimes time!
IC:
Lakan state officials did not provide the information of the U-156, U-20 and U-96 joining the war, keeping it secret even from the government they were in fact supporting due to the fear that the possible leaks inside the local government may compromise the whole operation. Sure, they did plan on, through diplomatic mail, informing the locals on the fact that their subs were fighting for the cause, however, only after the submarines attacked for the first time, utilizing the effect of surprise to full extent. After Die Wolfpack been on patrol for merely four days, such an opportunity came.
- I truly love our service, Captain,- sarcastically noted Persephone, drinking a cup of tea,- silent but deadly? More like “boring but expensive”. We’ve been on patrol here for days, and didn’t saw a thing that the HQ considers “a valuable target”. At this point I’m seriously considering the possibility that they’ve send us here just to be “a fleet in being” without telling the other side! God I love the stupidity of The High Command...
- Captain, incoming transmission from U-156! Deciphering... Mam, they’re reporting multiple... No, 19 acoustic contacts! They’ve just entered their sector, heading and speed are already on our screen!- energetically reported Mizette
- Now we’re talking!- enthusiastically said Persephone,- what are the types of the contacts?
- Eh... 12 merchants, types still unknown, most likely freighters or troop ships, 1 Kara-class, 2 Krivaks and 2 Grisha’s. They’re requesting permission to report to HQ!
- Granted... Skinner, sound the alarm, all hands on deck!
- Yes, Ma’m!
After these words, the sub was filled with red lights flashing (it was nighttime) and alarm sounds blaring out of every dynamic, and seconds later- she sounds of two dozens of men preparing for the coming action.
- Ma’m, acoustic officer reporting- we’re now tracking the contacts as well! Bearing [...], speed [...] knots, classifications matching those of U-156, U-196 reporting acoustics as well!
- Copy that... Communicate with U-156 and U-96 and order them to proceed accordingly to the plan. They’re sailing straight into our trap!
- Roger, mam!
*meanwhile at U-156*
“Hurry, hurry! Battlestations, NOW!- shouted Kotor Emmerton-Langley, hurrying the men,- it was her duty to ensure that all of the people aboard did what they were ordered to, as efficiently as possible. Despite her U-Boat resembling a luxury cruise ship of Edwardian age, she neither the less already felt somewhat like her grand-grand-grandfather, a renown German submarine ace, most famous for sinking a British carrier in the opening months of the war. The fact that half of the crew were shouting on not Lakan but German, which was usually viewed as a far more practical language in combat, only helped to further the situation. Running through the corridor to her position as a Tube#4’s chief officer, she banged into First officer, who told her to watch herself- failure in combat will not be tolerated, especially considering the mission Persephone assigned to U-96- they have to guard U-20 and U-156 from possible enemy submarines before and after they launch, so that they could keep the wire for as long as possible...

Laka Strolistandiler wrote:- Admiral! U-20 reporting active ASDIC (basically sonar but in WW2 British sonar was called ASDIC so who cares) pings from Krivak! They’ve been spotted! Reporting single RBK detonation, most likely either a misfire or a warning shot!
- Very well, order them evasive maneuvers. Captain?
- Yes Ma’m!
- Begin standard anti-submarine maneuvers, order U-96 to do the same. We’ve been spotted by an enemy sub!
- U-96 signaling SUB SUB, identification still impossible, most likely a Kilo or Gotland!
- Fuck, we’ve been trapped! Captain, work your magic, we HAVE to kill that sheiße U-boat!
- Yes, Ma’m!
Upon understanding that they’ve been detected, U-20 began performing standard evasive maneuvers- maneuvering while diving, forming multiple knuckles in the process to throw off possible enemy torpedoes, as well as launched a MOSS-type decoy, sending it away in a typical movement pattern for a spotted sub. The plan here was to throw off Islamici ASDIC operators, making them track MOSS instead of the actual sub for a couple of miniature that would be far more than enough for U-20 to dive past thermal layer and escape the Krivak’s ASDIC. Meanwhile, U-96 and U-156 began maneuvering into the Kilo’s baffles, with U-96 releasing it’s towed array to prevent another kilo from getting behind them. The catch here was that exported Kilo’s weren’t fitted with towed array, as well as their passive sonars being not exactly well-responsive.

- What..? Kapitanleutenant, you’re seeing what I’m seeing?
- They’re... They’re chasing the MOSS?
-What?!- Admiral joined the surprised sonar operator and captain, still wondering how and why did the Islamici operators chased the decoy that was supposed to simply fool torpedoes without a wire, but not actual human sonar operators. Still, what happened-happened, and so Lakan officers continue on with operations.
-Ma’m, they’ve fired torpedoes!
-Excellent, now they’re breaking international maritime law! Now we have the legality to attack them in return! Captain!
-Yes Ma’m!
-Order U-96 to fire it’s torpedoes in silent mode. Keep the wire, don’t order it to go active, they won’t see it coming! U-20 should continue its descent, once it gets deep enough their torpedoes won’t be able to chase us down because of the pressure (assuming that the area in which the assault happens is more than 2 km deep). Hit the Kilo where it hurts!
-Yes Ma’m!
-All of the boats, after we loose the wire (or get a hit) on Kilo crash five be,ow thermal. We’re getting out of here.

- Captain, we’ve got a hit! Contact faded, contact breaking up. The enemy sub is sinking! We... We did it, sir!- the acoustic officer’s face was truly a reflection of happiness and joy- that’s what they all were waiting for!
- Well done, major! Steering officer, put us below the layer, will you?- captain grabbed the intercom and said in a gentle yet happy voice to the crew:
- Ladies and gentlemen we’ve just sunk an enemy Kilo-class! Now, you know the traditions of our navy- after we leave the combat area and lie down on the seabed, come to the officers room for “awards”...- all of the crew already knew what he exactly was talking about. In Lakan fleet, submarines usually use a “hit and run” tactic, spending some time after a successful attack lying on the seabed well beyond enemy subs crush depths, waiting for the enemy to abort search operations. Each and every single member of the crew were also able to choose a small award: a glass of whine, half a pint of finest imported bear from Bavaria which was stored in a special wooden barrel, or a special treat from vessel’s cook. After the sinking, everyone was looking forward for this moment...
Meanwhile, while U-96 and U-156 were leaving the combat area, U-20 still had a job to do. The sub was fitted with an hull-integrated “Emergency rescue system”- essentially a glorified DSRV which primary task was saving lifes of fellow Lakan sailors. However, since according to acoustic’s data some of the compartments aboard the Kilo were not breached and still, most likely, contained alive crew leaving them there to die would be extremely unchivalrous and dishonorable. As such, U-20 positioned herself close to the Kilo and released DSRV which took no time in attaching itself to the sub’s outer hull. Soon, the surviving crew aboard the Kilo heard a few bangs- as if someone was attempting to communicate with them via Morse Code! After deciphering it, that’s what they had heard: this with the message repeating over and over again for several minutes. Although, DSRV’s hydraulic system was not the only on attempting to communicate to them- U-20’s radio operator was attempting to communicate to the sub via extremely short-ranged radio comms, so that the enemy won’t deduct sub’s position via ELINT.
Aboard the DSRV were as Lakan submarines who were themselves quite trained in close quarters combat as well as marines, specially trained unit for submarine-based operations, equipped with deep-sea combat suits and dual-environment (can shoot both underwater and in air) rifles. Regular submariners were armed with 9 mm SMG’s.
