Journalists are now wondering if Khan is trying to lose the election. Fortunately for him, however, the polls have been open for a few hours already and doing it on the day of the election gives it no time at all to sink in with the electorate, so the impact will be much lessened.

People in London, Portsmouth, Plymouth, Gloucester, Stroud, Norwich South, Birmingham and Bradford overwhelmingly vote Labour as do university students and military personnel in Colchester. In Essex (other than Colchester) people overwhelmingly vote UKIP (as they do in Swindon and Middlesbrough). In Luton people vote Labour but in the rest of the South-East people overwhelmingly vote Conservative.

IC: she is well received in Blackburn especially by the Muslim community and NHS employees. She and her husband are known for supporting the NHS. They are also both known as practising Muslims.

(The Mayor both in this and real life openly preached breaking the anti-COVID rules and threatened to do so).
The Tories are also unpopular due to the working-class demographic of the town.
